El deseo de Eddie Hearn era que el británico Derek “War” Chisora 33(23KO)-12(3) sumase una victoria ante el búlgaro Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev 29(14KO)-3(2) para seguir utilizándolo como carne de cañón para sus boxeadores con aspiraciones. En las cartulinas de muchos observadores Pulev hizo suficiente para vencer ante un Chisora que tuvo una vez más gravísimos problemas de fatiga y recibió golpes desgastado, pero aunque uno de los jueces dio un 116-112 para el búlgaro los restantes dieron 116-112 y 116-114 para cumplir los planes de Hearn, darle el triunfo dividido a Chisora y seguir encaminándole hacia daños permanentes.
Con más de una decena de clinches en el primer round, las cosas no empezaron bien. En cualquier caso, Chisora llegó con ganchos diestros abajo entre agarres, y algunos curvos arriba. Los clinches continuaron en el segundo round, pero entonces Pulev conectó peligrosos uppercuts y ganchos antes de que su rival continuase con su trabajo al torso. Llegados al tercer asalto Chisora empezó a dar sus habituales signos de cansancio temprano, así que “The Cobra” pudo impactar derechas rectas, cruzados diestros y uppercuts de esta misma mano.
La pelea seguía sin ser nada brillante, abundando los agarres y los golpes toscos de poco recorrido, pero Pulev empezó a crear una cierta ventaja con sus ganchos zurdos, rectos de derecha y uppercuts ante el desgastado Chisora, que con más voluntad que energías trataba de seguir golpeando con sus hooks. Sus curvos llegaron con contundencia en el séptimo asalto y parecieron dañar un tanto al búlgaro, que tenía un corte en torno al ojo izquierdo, pero en el octavo round un uppercut diestro estremeció duramente y tambaleó a Chisora.
Con su característica garra a la desesperada, Chisora aguantó los golpes de Pulev y lo movió con hooks en instantes emocionantes en el noveno asalto, pero estaba muy cansado y no podía presionar, así que, más allá de eventuales abiertos curvos, Pulev le pudo golpear con frecuentes rectos en el décimo y undécimo round, en el que el británico quedo estático en las cuerdas prolongadamente. En el asalto final Chisora tiró lo que le quedaba con abiertos hooks, pero no tenía fuerzas para separarse de las cuerdas y volvió a ser alcanzado por rectos en el ensogado.
Como lo mucho que ha explotado a Chisora hasta ahora no le parece suficiente a Hearn, ahora la idea es situarle a continuación ante un boxeador de élite. Evidentemente, el promotor sabe que su púgil se expondrá a una grave paliza y que seguramente pierda, pero el multimillonario Hearn podrá llenarse sus bolsillos un poco más y moverá unas posiciones una ficha en el gran tablero a costa de la salud de un boxeador muy valiente pero que un día se arrepentirá de todos los golpes de más que se ha llevado en su carrera.

In the scores of many observers, Pulev did enough to win against Chisora, who once again had very serious stamina problems and received many punches worn out, but although one of the judges had 116-112 for the Bulgarian, the two others gave scorecards of 116-112 and 116-114 to fulfill Hearn’s plans, award Chisora with a split decision win and keep him heading towards permanent damage.
With more than a dozen clinches in the first round, things did not start well. In any case, Chisora landed right hooks down between holds. The fight was still not brilliant at all, with many grabs and rough blows at close range, but Pulev began to create a certain advantage with his left hooks, straight rights and uppercuts against the worn-out Chisora, who with more will than energy tried to keep landing his hooks. His punches hit his rival hard in the seventh round and seemed to hurt a bit the Bulgarian, who had a cut around his left eye, but in the eighth round a right uppercut rocked hard Chisora.
With his characteristic grit in desperate situations, Chisora took Pulev’s punches and shook him with hooks in exciting moments in the ninth round, but he was too tired and couldn’t put pressure, so aside from his occasional hooks, Pulev was able to hit him with frequent straight shots in the tenth and eleventh round, in which the Briton remained static on the ropes for a long time. In the final round Chisora threw what he had left through hooks, but he didn’t have the energies to move away from the ropes and was hit again by straight shots.
Since Hearn is not satisfied with how much he has exploited Chisora, now his idea is to place him next against an elite fighter. Obviously, the promoter knows that his boxer will be exposed to a serious beating and that he will surely lose, but the billionaire Hearn will be able to fill his pockets a little more and will move a few positions one of his chess pieces on the big board at the cost of the health of a very brave boxer that one day will regret all the extra blows he has taken in his career.
