Antes de encarar la pugna más importante de su carrera, el peso minimosca filipino Mark “Rasta Mac” Vicelles 17(10KO)-0-1 quería prepararse para ella con un duro test ante el competente y resistente Jaysever “Lion Hearted” Abcede 21(13KO)-11(3). No obstante, aunque por lo general Abcede es un oponente complicado y que exige mucho, en esta ocasión sucumbió en el primer asalto.
Después de que los boxeadores (ambos zurdos) probasen con sus uno-dos, Vicelles lanzó un gancho zurdo que golpeó de refilón el hígado de su oponente, que retrocedió un tanto dañado con un minuto de pelea transcurrido. Posteriormente Vicelles presionó buscando la conclusión, llevando hacia las cuerdas a su contrincante y haciendo que su adversario se arrodillase en la lona por un hook diestro. En un primer momento pareció que el golpe ni siquiera le tocaba, pero finalmente, y tras varias repeticiones, pareció que el puño de nuevo le había rozado el hígado. Sea como sea, Abcede intentó apurar la cuenta antes de levantarse, pero se alzó demasiado tarde y el árbitro la completó.
En la entrevista posterior al enfrentamiento, el 2º WBO y 4º WBC e IBF Vicelles señaló que quiere disputar a continuación un mundial o una eliminatoria, objetivo que aparentemente deberá buscar por la Organización. Y es que el cetro IBF está vacante y por él deberían pelear Sivenathi Nontshinga y Hector Flores, mientras que Hekkie Buddler y Elwin Soto combatirán en una eliminatoria WBC la próxima semana, lo que en principio deja la vía WBO como la más despejada para Vicelles.

Before facing the biggest fight of his career, Filipino light flyweight Mark “Rasta Mac” Vicelles 17(10KO)-0-1 wanted to prepare for it with a tough test against the competent and resilient Jaysever “Lion Hearted” Abcede 21(13KO)-11(3). However, although Abcede is usually a difficult opponent, this time he succumbed in the first round.
After the boxers (both southpaws) tried to land their one-twos, Vicelles threw a left hook that glancingly hit his opponent’s liver, making Abcede back up somewhat hurt. Vicelles then pressed seeking the conclusion, taking his opponent to the ropes and making him kneel on the canvas due to a right hook. At first it seemed that the blow did not even touch him, but finally, and after several replays, it seemed that the punch had grazed his liver again. Be that as it may, Abcede tried to wait on his knees before getting up, but he got up too late and the referee completed his count.
In the interview after the bout, the 2nd WBO and 4th WBC and IBF Vicelles stated that he wants to fight in a world title match or in an eliminator, objective that he should seek in the Organization. The IBF title is vacant and Sivenathi Nontshinga and Hector Flores should fight for it, while Hekkie Buddler and Elwin Soto will clash in a WBC eliminator next week, so in principle the WBO route will be the clearest for Vicelles.
