Top Rank anuncia velada con eliminatoria del peso pluma Joet González vs. Isaac Dogboe

Después del evento Beterbiev-Smith de este sábado, Top Rank se tomará casi un mes de vacaciones hasta su siguiente evento, el encabezado por el combate del peso superligero Arnold Barboza vs. Danielito Zorrilla el día 15 de julio. No obstante, tras este último sólo habrá que esperar poco más de una semana para la siguiente velada.
Y es que Top Rank ha confirmado oficialmente que el día 23 de julio, en el Grand Casino de Hinckley, Estados Unidos, el dos veces retador mundial Joet González y el excampeón mundial Isaac Dogboe se enfrentarán en una eliminatoria WBC del peso pluma. Dado que se ha anunciado que será a diez asaltos, seguramente esta será una eliminatoria semifinal, si bien hay que tener en cuenta que González, 3º WBC, y Dogboe, 5º WBC, son rivales directos en la lucha por el mundial y el ganador debería recibir un gran posicionamiento.
Este evento, emitido en Estados Unidos por ESPN+, contará como choque coestelar con un combate del peso ligero en el que el estadounidense Giovanni Cabrera tratará de anotarse una de las victorias más significativas de su carrera enfrentándose a Gabriel Flores Jr., que intentará distanciarse de su derrota ante “El Venado” López y su controvertido triunfo sobre Abraham Montoya.
En las declaraciones adjuntas a la confirmación del evento, González señaló:
“A la tercera va la vencida, y estoy más motivado que nunca para tener un título mundial alrededor de mi cintura. Isaac Dogboe siempre viene a pelear. Yo le respeto, pero me estoy preparando para ir a la batalla el 23 de julio. Espero la mejor versión de Dogboe, y yo ofreceré lo mejor de mi boxeo”.
Por su parte, Dogboe afirmó:
“He sido puesto a prueba ante lo mejor de lo mejor, y el 23 de julio iremos a la guerra contra otro contendiente top como Joet González. Estoy emocionado por estar de vuelta en un combate estelar mientras continúo mi camino hacia convertirme en campeón mundial en dos divisiones”.

After Saturday’s event Beterbiev-Smith, Top Rank will take nearly a month off until its next card, which will be headlined by the super lightweight bout Arnold Barboza vs. Danielito Zorrilla on July 15. However, after this evening it will only be necessary to wait a little more than a week for the following bill.
Top Rank has officially confirmed that on July 23, at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, United States, the two-time world challenger Joet González and the former world champion Isaac Dogboe will clash in a WBC featherweight eliminator. Since it has been announced that it will be a ten round fight, this will probably be a semifinal eliminator, although it must be taken into account that González, 3rd WBC, and Dogboe, 5th WBC, are direct rivals in the fight for the world championship and the winner should get a high ranking.

In the official confirmation of the event, González said:
“The third time’s a charm, and I’m more motivated than ever to have a world title around my waist. Isaac Dogboe always comes to fight. The respect is there, but on July 23, I am preparing to go to battle. I expect the best version of Dogboe, and I will be at the top of my game.”
For his part, Dogboe stated:
“I have been tested against the very best, and on July 23, we go to war against another top contender in Joet Gonzalez. I am excited to be back in a main event as I continue my quest to become a two-weight world champion.”
