Michael Hunter y Hughie Fury pelearán en eliminatoria WBA del peso pesado

El estadounidense Michael Hunter y el británico Hughie Fury se enfrentarán en Manchester, Reino Unido, el día 2 de julio en una eliminatoria WBA del peso pesado emitida por Sky Sports. Según han explicado medios británicos, ambos boxeadores han firmado ya el contrato.
Ryan Taylor informa de que Hunter recibirá una bolsa de 440.000 libras (550.000 dólares) y que además tiene una opción de firmar un contrato con Boxxer en caso de que logre la victoria. En cuanto a Fury, no se han especificado sus ganancias más allá del hecho de que sus ingresos por la pugna serán menores a los de Hunter.
Respecto a qué oportunidad titular asegurará al vencedor la eliminatoria, en principio ésta debería dejarle por debajo del ganador del Daniel Dubois vs. Trevor Bryan, a quien quizás deba enfrentarse posteriormente en una eliminatoria final para decidir al aspirante obligatorio del monarca unificado Oleksandr Usyk. De todos modos, si nunca se puede estar seguro de algo con los organismos mundiales del boxeo, con la WBA se tienen todavía menores certezas y esta organización podría buscar otro tipo de soluciones.
En cualquier caso, el Hunter vs. Fury es un combate interesante, con sentido y en el que dos boxeadores con aspiraciones y estilos diferentes tratarán de dar un paso más hacia la cúspide de la división.
