La WBA ordena Josh Taylor vs. Alberto Puello. Se acelera decisión del campeón indiscutido del peso superligero sobre su futuro

La WBA ha hecho público este miércoles que ha ordenado que el campeón indiscutido del peso superligero Josh Taylor exponga a continuación sus coronas contra el aspirante obligatorio del organismo, el dominicano Alberto Puello. A partir de ahora ambas partes tendrán 30 días para negociar, y en caso de no alcanzarse un acuerdo el duelo irá a subasta, si bien es muy posible que este enfrentamiento no llegue a tener lugar.
Dado que Taylor comunicó poco después de su combate ante Jack Catterall que se iba a encaminar al peso wélter, se esperaba que el campeón dejase sus cinturones mundiales vacantes inmediatamente. Con todo, como Taylor no ha terminado de dar el paso han surgido voces que han señalado que quizás podría aplazar su ascenso de división una pelea más para encarar alguna gran pugna en el peso superligero, habiendo rumores sobre posibles rivales.
Sea como sea, ahora “The Tartan Tornado” no tendrá el margen de tiempo que pretendía utilizar para sopesar cuándo y hacia dónde realizar su siguiente paso y deberá tomar una decisión rápido sobre si defiende sus coronas ante Puello o si asciende al peso wélter, que es lo más probable. En el caso de que los cetros queden sin dueño, Puello peleará en el mundial por el título vacante contra un coaspirante por designar, siendo de momento los boxeadores mejor clasificados por debajo de él Ismael Barroso y Ohara Davies.

The WBA has made public this Wednesday that it has ordered a fight between the undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor and the mandatory challenger of this organization, the Dominican Alberto Puello. Now, both parties will have 30 days to negotiate, and if an agreement is not reached, the duel will go to auction, although it is very possible that this confrontation will not take place.
Given that Taylor announced shortly after his fight against Jack Catterall that he was going to move up to welterweight, the champion was expected to vacate his world titles immediately. However, as Taylor has not taken this step yet, rumors have indicated that he could perhaps end up postponing his change of division for one more fight to face some important boxer at super lightweight.
