Hemos dejado atrás ya los dos primeros meses de 2022 y entramos en la temporada alta boxística de la primera mitad del año. Esto se traduce en que, a pesar de que sólo habrá una gran velada de una de las cuatro promotoras más poderosas del mundo, habrá igualmente bastante actividad destacable en diversos lugares del mundo.
Jueves 10 de marzo
En este día el Gran Teatro Príncipe Pío de Madrid, España, acogerá una velada de boxeo de Emporio Boxing emitida por Movistar+ Deportes (el duelo estelar podrá verse también por Movistar #Vamos) que contará como combate principal con un bien emparejado e interesante campeonato de España por el vacante cinturón del peso superpluma. Los coaspirantes serán los invictos Adrián Rodríguez 6(2KO)-0-1 y Salvador “Salvi” Jiménez 8(2KO)-0 quienes, más allá de la experiencia de calidad que extraerán de este duelo titular, deberían ofrecer un contendido choque entre jóvenes púgiles con ambición y que no querrán desaprovechar la oportunidad de coronarse ante las cámaras.
En el respaldo el campeón de España supergallo Álvaro “Ardy” Rodríguez 10(1KO)-4-1 disputará un combate de recuperación tras su derrota ante Brad Foster peleando contra Engel Gómez 8(4KO)-7(2)-1, el superligero con buena pegada Nelson Dotel 8(5KO)-2 buscará llevar a siete su racha de victorias ante el competente y resistente José Osado 9(4KO)-3 y el rumano, residente en España, Alex Rat 13(4KO)-4(1)-2 disputará su tercer choque desde el parón enfrentándose a la piedra de toque venezolana Helber Rojas 14(12KO)-6(4)-2.
Viernes 11 de marzo
En esta jornada se desarrollará una velada de Probellum y GYM Promotions desde el Casino de Montreal, Canadá, en la que tendrá lugar un crucial combate en el peso wélter entre los imbatidos Gabriel Maestre 4(3KO)-0, de Venezuela, y Taras Shelestyuk 19(11KO)-0, de Ucrania. Estos dos púgiles de gran recorrido amateur son rivales directos en el ranking WBA y en principio el choque será una eliminatoria. Además, aunque ambos tienen evidentes cualidades, ninguno de los dos tiene mucho tiempo por edad. Así, parece que este duelo tendría que ofrecer muy buenos rounds y debería demostrar cuál es el nivel de cada uno de ellos y cuál es su lugar en la división.
Por número de combates relevantes también destaca la velada de AGON Sport desde el AGON Sportpark de Berlín, Alemania, que esta vez no será emitida por YouTube sino por Bild+. En esta cartelera con nombres conocidos en el boxeo germano actual, el 6º IBF superwélter Haro Matevosyan 14(9KO)-0 tratará de afianzar su posición ante el exranqueado, convertido en piedra de toque Johan Pérez 27(16KO)-9(3)-2, el número 2 de ese mismo ranking Jack Culcay 29(13KO)-4 pondrá fin a un año y medio de inactividad ante Khalil El Harraz 14(1KO)-2-1, y el 9º IBF del peso medio Vincenzo Gualtieri 18(7KO)-0-1 tratará de escalar puestos y expandir su experiencia ante el fogueado Dario Socci 14(6KO)-6(1)-2.
En cuanto a duelos titulares, en este viernes destaca el campeonato mundial WBA del peso minimosca en el que la argentina Yesica Bopp 37(17KO)-2 intentará defender su cinturón ante la peligrosa mexicana Jéssica Nery Plata 27(3KO)-2 en el Majestic Casino de Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá. En principio Bopp, una de las boxeadoras más insignes de las divisiones ligeras femeninas, será favorita, pero no estando lejos su inesperada derrota ante Juliana Basualdo y siendo Plata una boxeadora que sólo ha perdido por la mínima ante boxeadoras de élite (Kenia Enríquez y Esmeralda Moreno), éste debería ser un igualado y difícil choque en el que la no favorita tiene opciones de victoria.
También será un interesante combate titular el enfrentamiento entre Aitor Nieto 25(10KO)-7(1)-1 y Jon Míguez 15(7KO)-0 por el vacante cinturón de la Unión Europea del peso wélter que se producirá este viernes en el Palacio de los Deportes de Oviedo, España. Además de que el ganador se situará en una buena posición para aspirar a disputar en el futuro próximo el campeonato de Europa de la división, este es un cruce entre un veterano con experiencia de calidad (y con buen rendimiento pese a estar cerca del retiro) y un boxeador joven, con proyección y pegada pero que todavía no ha disputado una pelea a este nivel. De todos modos, y aunque pelea como visitante, quizás Míguez sea favorito para vencer por su claridad con los golpes poder.
En el respaldo el superligero Jonathan Alonso 21(7KO)-1 disputará otro rodaje más, en esta ocasión ante Luis Enrique Romero 9(6KO)-5(1)-1.
En la jornada también se puede destacar una velada emitida por YouTube y por TVP Sport desde el Obiekt Rekreacyjno Sportowy Rondo de Konin, Polonia. En ella, el peso supermedio Patrick Szymanski 21(11KO)-4(3), que siempre ofrece peleas entretenidas, se medirá en un bien emparejado duelo a Karol Welter 9(2KO)-1, teniendo ambos derrotas divididas recientes ante Przemyslaw Gorgon. En el evento, entre otros combates, el invicto peso pluma Kamil Laszczyk 28(10KO)-0 pondrá fin a cerca de dos años de inactividad ante el tanzano Ismail Galiatano 10(2KO)-2(1)-3 y el imbatido peso superwélter Tomasz Nowicki 10(3KO)-0 disputará quizás su último test a ocho rounds antes de las pugnas a diez asaltos enfrentándose al venezolano Juan Ruiz 27(19KO)-6(4).
Además, este viernes ajetreado contará con estos otros eventos:
-En el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, emitido por BT Sport se producirá un cartel de Frank Warren en el cual el único choque sin aplastante favorito e interesante será el campeonato británico por el vacante cinturón supergallo entre Chris Bourke 10(6KO)-0 y Marc Leach 17(4KO)-1-1.
-En el Deadwood Mountain Grand de Deadwood, Estados Unidos, se producirá una velada de Showtime muy afectada por las cancelaciones. En uno de los choques se enfrentarán los superwélter Ardreal Holmes 11(5KO)-0 y Vernon Brown 13(9KO)-1-1, que casi no han disputado rounds en los últimos dos años y medio, duelo acompañado por el que sostendrán en el peso ligero el local sin poner a prueba Luis Acosta 12(11KO)-0 y el capaz dominicano Edwin de los Santos 13(12KO)-1.
-En el Casino Buenos Aires de Buenos Aires, Argentina, TyC Sports emitirá un combate del peso semipesado entre el local Facundo Galovar 13(8KO)-6(1)-2 y el venezolano Albert Ramírez 11(11KO)-0. Además el peso medio Guido Schramm 13(8KO)-0-1 tratará de acceder al ranking WBO peleando por un título menor ante el joven y motivado Cristian Ayala 7(3KO)-1-1.
Sábado 12 de marzo
En este día el bronce olímpico Michael Conlan disputará su mayor test hasta la fecha peleando en una velada de otra promotora contra un hábil rival como Leigh Wood, púgil con pegada y que llega de la mayor victoria de su carrera. Este será el choque estelar del evento de Matchroom y DAZN de la semana.

En el respaldo de este combate, los prospectos Gary Cully y Sandy Ryan afrontarán pruebas de fuego ante, respectivamente, Miguel “Títere” Vázquez y Erica Farías, Terri Harper intentará regresar a la senda de la victoria ante Yamila Abellaneda y el peso medio Caoimhin Agyarko buscará un nuevo knockout ante Juan Carlos Rubio.

Esta velada estará cargada de nombres relevantes, ya que el excampeón mundial panameño Anselmo Moreno 40(13KO)-6(2)-1, 3º WBA pluma, intentará afianzar su posición ante el mexicano Gustavo Piña 10(5KO)-3(1)-2; el exmonarca mundial venezolano Liborio Solís 32(14KO)-6-1, 5º WBA gallo, disputará su primer combate de 2022 ante Alejandro Jair González 10(6KO)-3(1)-2; el prospecto estadounidense del peso mosca Anthony Olascuaga 2(1KO)-0 seguirá con su acelerado ascenso enfrentándose al exretador mundial Gilberto Pedroza 19(8KO)-8(3)-2; y el azerí Elvin Ganbarov 16(14KO)-0 peleará en un duelo de desarrollo ante el venezolano Johan González 29(29KO)-1.

Domingo 13 de marzo
Como un extra a lo arriba mencionado, además el domingo Fightzone emitirá un evento desde el Rebel Entertainment Complex de Toronto, Canadá, que contará como pugna principal con un choque del peso wélter entre el exclasificado Samuel Vargas 31(14KO)-7(4)-2 y el bravo polaco Przemyslaw Runowski 19(5KO)-2. Dado que Vargas llega de una rápida derrota ante Connor Benn y Runowski, pese a sus limitaciones técnicas, es un boxeador en forma y muy voluntarioso este quizás sea un enfrentamiento más igualado y entretenido de lo que algunos puedan pensar.

We have already left behind the first two months of the year and entered an intense part of the boxing season. This means that, although there will only be one big evening from one of the four most powerful promoters in the world, there will also be plenty of notable activity in various parts of the world.
Thursday March 10
On this day, the Gran Teatro Príncipe Pío in Madrid, Spain, will be venue for a boxing event by Emporio Boxing broadcasted by Movistar+ Deportes (the main duel can also be watched in Movistar #Vamos) which will feature a well-matched and interesting Spanish national championship for the vacant super featherweight belt. The contenders will be the undefeated Adrián Rodríguez 6(2KO)-0-1 and Salvador «Salvi» Jiménez 8(2KO)-0. Beyond the quality experience they will extract from this championship fight, it should be a contested clash between young fighters with ambition and who will not want to miss the opportunity to be crowned in front of the cameras.

These two great amateur boxers are direct rivals in the WBA ranking and in principle the clash will be an eliminator. Also, although they both have obvious qualities, none of them have much time in their careers taking into account their ages. Thus, it seems that this duel should offer very good rounds and should show what is the level of each of them and what is their place in the division.
Due to the number of relevant fights, also stands out the AGON Sport evening from the AGON Sportpark in Berlin, Germany, which this time will not be broadcasted on YouTube but on Bild+. The confrontation between Aitor Nieto 25(10KO)-7(1)-1 and Jon Míguez 15(7KO)-0 for the vacant European Union welterweight belt that will take place this Friday at the Palacio de los Deportes in Oviedo, Spain, will also be an interesting title match. As an extra to the above mentioned, on Sunday Fightzone will broadcast an event from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Canada, which will feature as the main fight a welterweight clash between former ranked boxer Samuel Vargas 31(14KO)-7(4)-2 and the brave Polish Przemyslaw Runowski 19(5KO)-2. Given that Vargas is coming off a quick loss to Connor Benn and Runowski, despite his technical limitations, is a very fit and willful fighter, this may be a more even and entertaining match than some might think.
