Victorias del peso pesado “Mac Truck” Scott y del peso crucero Johnnie Langston en el respaldo del Makabu-Mchunu II

No fue un combate brillante y a su ganador le queda mucho que mejorar, comenzando por su condición física, pero el joven peso pesado estadounidense Dacarree “Mac Truck” Scott 7(6KO)-0 logró diez asaltos de experiencia (nunca había pasado del segundo asalto) además de una merecida victoria en el respaldo del Makabu-Mchunu II ante el egipcio Ahmed “Prince of Egypt” Hefny 13(5KO)-2. Las puntuaciones fueron de acertado 97-93 y de razonable 96-94, ambos para Scott, y un muy generoso 94-96 para Hefny.
Durante los dos primeros asaltos Hefny se centró básicamente en entrar en clinch para intentar evitar los fuertes hooks que lanzaba contra él un agresivo Scott, pero este último estaba en tan mal estado de forma que llegados al tercer asalto ya había perdido velocidad y energías para presionar, siendo frenado por directos y abiertos cruzados en larga. Entonces, en el cuarto asalto se produjo un choque de cabezas y Hefny sufrió un serio corte alrededor de su ojo izquierdo, algo que motivó a Scott para volver a la carga. No obstante, su trabajo fue poco metódico o consistente, contribuyendo a ello tanto sus limitaciones técnicas y físicas como el desorden de un Hefny que a veces sólo quería caminar, manotear o agarrarse.
Aun así, Scott llegó con algunos duros directos o uppercuts en el séptimo asalto, que fueron sucedidos por potentes hooks en el octavo que dañaron a Hefny, a quien tampoco le sobraban precisamente las fuerzas, por lo que el invicto afianzó su ventaja y, aunque cometía claros errores en su gestión de los espacios y muchas veces se exponía, terminó asegurándose el triunfo a los puntos.
Después de este combate se produjo un duelo del peso crucero entre dos piedras de toque como los estadounidenses Johnnie Langston 10(4KO)-3(1) y Nick “Slick” Kisner 22(6KO)-6(3)-1, siendo el primero el que obtuvo una victoria por KOT en el quinto asalto.
Kisner intentó tirar de oficio junto a cambios de guardia diestra a zurda para tratar de generar complicaciones a su rival, pero Langston tenía ventaja en rapidez, técnica y recursos, por lo que pudo trabajar en media con hooks al torso, se reposicionó evitando golpes y usó su jab y abiertos cruzados en larga para poner las bases de un control táctico. Ciertas contras aisladas de Kisner llegaron en ocasiones, pero Langston fue a más y para el cuarto asalto ya consiguió conectar buenas combinaciones con su adversario de espaldas a las cuerdas.
Esto fue un aviso de lo que iba a suceder en el siguiente round, cuando un gancho diestro abajo puso en el tapiz a Kisner. Este púgil volvió a caer por otro gancho al cuerpo en la reanudación, llegando posteriormente un tercer knockdown fruto de una combinación al rostro, deteniendo entonces el árbitro el enfrentamiento. Así Langston logró un triunfo antes del límite y un cinturón menor que deberían servirle para recibir una llamada próximamente para dar un rodaje a un púgil con aspiraciones o servir de test a algún prospecto.

It was not a brilliant fight and its winner has a lot to improve, as his physical condition, but the young American heavyweight Dacarree “Mac Truck” Scott 7(6KO)-0 got ten rounds of experience (he had never gone past the second round) in addition to a deserved victory in the support of the Makabu-Mchunu II against the Egyptian Ahmed “Prince of Egypt” Hefny 13(5KO)-2. The scores were an accurate 97-93 and a reasonable 96-94, both for Scott, and a very generous 94-96 for Hefny.
During the first two rounds Hefny basically focused on clinching to try to avoid the strong hooks that an aggressive Scott was throwing at him, but the latter was in such bad shape that by the third round he had already lost speed and energy, so his pressure slowed down and he received straight punches and counter hooks. Then, in the fourth round, there was a clash of heads and Hefny suffered a cut around his left eye, something that motivated Scott to return to the attack. However, his work was not very methodical or consistent, contributing to it both his technical and physical limitations and the disorder of a Hefny who sometimes just wanted to walk and hold on.
Even so, Scott connected some hard straight punches and uppercuts in the seventh round, which were followed by powerful hooks in the eighth that damaged Hefny, who didn’t exactly have energy to spare, so the undefeated strengthened his advantage and, although he made clear mistakes in the control of distance and many times he exposed himself at attack, he ended up assuring the victory on points.
After this fight there was a cruiserweight duel between the Americans Johnnie Langston 10(4KO)-3(1) and Nick “Slick” Kisner 22(6KO)-6(3)-1, bout in which the first one got the victory by TKO in the fifth round.
Kisner used his experience along with a switch of stance to try to create complications for his rival, but the southpaw Langston had an advantage in speed, technique and resources, so he was able to work in the mid range with hooks to the body, repositioned himself avoiding punches and used his jab and other punches at long range to establish a tactical control. Some isolated counters from Kisner hit the target at times, but Langston went further in his superiority in the match and by the fourth round he was already able to connect good combinations with his opponent against the ropes.
This was a hint of what was to come in the next round, when a right hook to the body put Kisner on the canvas, falling again after the count as a consecuence of another hook to the body. The third knockdown didn’t take long to come, as a combination to the head floored Kisner again, so the referee stopped the fight. Thus, Langston obtained a TKO victory and a lesser belt (NABA) that should serve him to receive a call soon to be a tune-up for a boxer with aspirations or to serve as a test for a prospect.
