La WBA ordena Gervonta Davis vs. Rolando Romero y Murodjon Akhmadaliev vs. Ronny Ríos

La WBA ha ordenado hace unas horas dos enfrentamientos que ya habían estado situados en el calendario antes de que tuviesen que ser cancelados. Uno de ellos es el duelo del peso ligero entre Gervonta “Tank” Davis y Rolando Romero, quienes tenían previsto enfrentarse en diciembre antes de que “Rolly” fuese apartado del combate al ser acusado de un delito grave. Con todo, el proceso judicial contra Romero ha terminado siendo cerrado sin ni siquiera llegar a juicio, por lo que el boxeador ya está libre para poder combatir.
De ese modo, y como parte del plan de reducción de titulares WBA, el “campeón” regular Davis y el extitular interino Romero (recordemos que los interinos WBA desaparecieron y fueron nombrados aspirantes obligatorios) han recibido la orden para pelear a continuación, teniendo hasta el 24 de febrero para alcanzar un acuerdo y evitar la subasta.
Por otro lado, la Asociación también ha ordenado que se produzca el duelo mundialista del peso supergallo entre el campeón unificado Murodjon Akhmadaliev y el aspirante obligatorio Ronny Ríos, quienes deberían haber peleado en noviembre si un test PCR positivo de parte de Ríos no lo hubiese impedido.
Ahora Akhmadaliev y Ríos tienen 90 días para pugnar, si bien esto crea una situación muy comprometida para el campeón, ya que el uzbeko también ha recibido la orden de defensa obligatoria de la IBF contra Marlon Tapales. De ese modo, si uno de los dos organismos no aplaza sus requerimientos, el monarca podría verse obligado a renunciar a uno de sus cinturones.

A few hours ago the WBA has ordered two matches that had already been placed on the calendar before they had to be canceled. One of them is the lightweight matchup between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Rolando Romero, who were scheduled to meet in December before “Rolly” was pulled from the bout after being charged with a felony. However, the judicial process against Romero has ended up being closed without even going to trial, so the boxer is now free to fight.
In this way, and as part of the plan to reduce WBA titleholders, the regular «champion» Davis and former interim titleholder Romero (the interim WBA titlists disappeared and were named mandatory contenders) have received the order to fight next, having until February 24 to reach an agreement and avoid the purse bid.
On the other hand, the Association has also ordered the super bantamweight world championship duel between unified champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev and mandatory challenger Ronny Ríos, who should have fought in November if a positive PCR test from Ríos had not prevented it from happening.
Now Akhmadaliev and Ríos have 90 days to fight, although this creates a very compromising situation for the champion, since the Uzbek has also received an order from the IBF to defend against mandatory challenger Marlon Tapales. In this way, if one of the two organizations does not postpone their requirements, the champion could be forced to give up one of his belts.
