Se esperaba que este viernes Matchroom Boxing y DAZN confirmasen oficialmente una serie de eventos que se producirán entre febrero y marzo y que ya habían sido filtrados unas horas antes. Pues bien, efectivamente ha sido así y ya han sido anunciados siete carteleras que contarán con interesantes cruces y conocidos nombres. A continuación resumimos cuál es el calendario de estas veladas.
5 de febrero
La temporada 2022 de Matchroom Boxing se iniciará con un evento desde el Gila River Arena de Glendale, Estados Unidos, siendo el enfrentamiento estelar el duelo entre excampeones mundiales del peso superwélter que sostendrán Jessie Vargas y Liam Smith. Además, en el respaldo ha sido confirmado también que se producirá una eliminatoria final entre otros dos exmonarcas mundiales, en este caso del peso supermosca, como Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (cuyo nombre real es Wisaksil Wangek) y Carlos Cuadras.
12 de febrero
Una semana más tarde tendrá lugar, en el Alexandra Palace de Londres, Reino Unido, un buen choque del peso supermedio entre Daniel Jacobs y John Ryder, pelea cuyo ganador se verá alzado a una gran oportunidad en la categoría.
27 de febrero
El primer campeonato mundial será el WBO del peso crucero. En él se medirán el titular Lawrence Okolie y el exretador mundial Michal Cieslak, estando pendiente de confirmación la sede para el duelo, si bien seguramente se producirá en Reino Unido.
5 de marzo
Quizás el enfrentamiento más esperado de todos los confirmados es la tercera pugna entre Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada y Román “Chocolatito” González, choque por el número 1 de la división del peso supermosca que tendrá lugar en el Pechanga Arena de San Diego, Estados Unidos.
12 de marzo
Siete días más tarde la actividad de Matchroom regresará a Reino Unido, en concreto al Motorpoint Arena de Nottingham, donde se desarrollará un encuentro muy esperado para la afición de las Islas Británicas entre el titular WBA “regular” del peso pluma Leigh Wood y el bronce olímpico irlandés Michael Conlan, pudiendo apuntar el ganador a un posterior combate contra Leo Santa Cruz en virtud del proceso de reducción de campeones WBA.
19 de marzo
Aunque ha sido incluido también como parte de este anuncio múltiple, la promotora Matchroom Boxing no será en principio la organizadora principal del cartel del 19 de marzo, sino Golden Boy Promotions, poniendo sobre el ring el choque estelar a Vergil Ortiz, insigne promesa del peso wélter que se verá las caras con el invicto británico Michael McKinson.
26 de marzo
Finalmente, este primer tramo de temporada 2022 de DAZN se cerrará con una revancha, puesto que el monarca mundial IBF del peso pluma, el español Kiko Martínez, se desplazará al First Direct Arena de Leeds, Reino Unido, para medirse una vez más a Josh Warrington.

It was expected that this Friday Matchroom Boxing and DAZN will officially confirm a series of fight nights that will take place between February and March. Well, it has indeed been like that and seven boxing shows have already been announced, featuring interesting matches and well-known names. Below we summarize the calendar of these evenings.
February 5
The 2022 season of Matchroom Boxing will begin with a show from the Gila River Arena in Glendale, United States, with the main showdown matchmaking two former world junior middleweight champions Jessie Vargas and Liam Smith. The cofeature will be a final eliminator between two other former world champions: Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs. Carlos Cuadras.
February 12
A week later, a good super middleweight clash between Daniel Jacobs and John Ryder will take place at Alexandra Palace in London, United Kingdom, with the winner stepping closer to a great opportunity in the division.
February 27
The first world championship will be for the WBO cruiserweight title. In it, the beltholder Lawrence Okolie and the former world challenger Michal Cieslak will square off. The venue for the duel is not yet confirmed, although it will surely take place in the United Kingdom.
March 5
Perhaps the most anticipated confrontation of all those confirmed is the third fight between Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada and Román “Chocolatito” González, a clash for the number 1 of the super flyweight division that will take place at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, United States.
March 12
Seven days later, Matchroom’s activity will return to the UK, specifically to the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, where a highly anticipated match for British Isles fans will take place between featherweight WBA titleholder Leigh Wood and olympian bronze medallist Michael Conlan. The winner will get closer to a match against Leo Santa Cruz through the WBA championship reduction plan.
March 19
Although it has also been included as part of this multiple announcement, the promoter Matchroom Boxing will not be the main organizer of the March 19 show, but Golden Boy Promotions. In the main event the outstanding welterweight prospect Vergil Ortiz will fight against undefeated Michael McKinson.
March 26th
Finally, this first stretch of the DAZN 2022 season will close with a rematch, as the IBF world featherweight champion Kiko Martínez will travel to the First Direct Arena in Leeds, United Kingdom, to face Josh Warrington once again.
