El hábil peso superpluma estadounidense O’Shaquie Foster 19(11KO)-2 está más cerca que nunca de disputar el primer mundial de su carrera. Y es que, como parte de la velada de Probellum de este viernes, Foster derrotó por decisión unánime al capaz y valiente tayiko Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov 18(10KO)-1 en una eliminatoria WBC. Las puntuaciones fueron de 118-109 y doble 117-110.
En el primer asalto Yaqubov, que llevaba la iniciativa, dio muestras de su precisión y de su eficacia, conectando peligrosas manos con su directo zurdo y con sorprendentes combinaciones en dos-uno, pero Foster sacó sus reflejos y su explosividad para llegar con buenos jabs y algunos cortos rectos en el segundo round. Este fue el planteamiento general que tuvo el combate en los siguientes minutos, contrastando los golpes de poder de Yaqubov con los veloces destellos del dinámico Foster, siendo un duelo igualado y muy interesante.
Sin un punto de inflexión claro, el choque se mantuvo disputado, pero poco a poco Foster comenzó a marcar la diferencia a su favor con sus afilados contragolpes en directo o gancho ante un Yaqubov tremendamente voluntarioso pero en ocasiones bastante precipitado. Alcanzado el séptimo episodio, el estadounidense tomó la iniciativa y empezó a tirar más golpes con sus uno-dos, logrando dañar al tayiko con un directo en el octavo asalto, si bien Yaqubov replicó con gran valentía intentando evitar ceder demasiado terreno.
En el último tercio Yaqubov empezó a dar muestras de cansancio claras y, aunque continuó llegando con duros puños aislados, Foster continuó teniendo cada vez mejores resultados con sus largos rectos. El tayiko volvió a presionar, sobre todo gracias a su formidable coraje, pero no tenía ya las energías del comienzo de la pugna y Foster lo aprovechó para reducir los peligros con su defensa, encontrar huecos para llamativas contras y terminar asegurándose el triunfo entre los bravos ataques de Yaqubov, que cayó a la lona una vez en el último round por una izquierda recta a la contra.
Dado que Probellum señaló en sus promociones que el duelo sería una eliminatoria semifinal y esto encaja con lo que se dictaminó en la Convención del Consejo, en principio Foster deberá tener que medirse ahora a Robson Conceiçao en una eliminatoria final. Con todo, teniendo en cuenta el poco respecto que tiene el WBC por sus propias disposiciones, no es descartable tampoco que Foster acabe accediendo directamente a un duelo obligatorio ante el ganador de la unificación Shakur Stevenson vs. Óscar Valdez.
Masoud brilló una vez más
Por lo que respecta al buen prospecto supergallo Shabaz Masoud 10(3KO)-0, este púgil tuvo una brillante actuación y terminó en dos rounds con el exaspirante mundial francés Yoan Boyeaux 43(26KO)-7(2).
De diestro o de zurdo, en el primer asalto Masoud usó su jab y sus uno-dos con velocidad para alcanzar e incomodar a un Boyeaux que tuvo muchos problemas para conectar sus manos por la defensa dinámica y estática del invicto. Tras estos éxitos, y tan pronto como en el segundo round, Masoud cambió de marcha y comenzó a combinar hooks arriba y abajo que dañaron y pusieron en evidentes apuros a su contrincante, que no pudo salir al tercer episodio.
Antes del inicio de la cartelera principal televisada por Eurosport se produjo una nueva victoria antes del límite del oro olímpico uzbeko Bakhodir Jalolov 10(10KO)-0, peso pesado que le asestó una derrota por KOT en el quinto round al resistente polaco Kamil Sokolowski 11(4KO)-26(4)-2.

The skillful American super featherweight O’Shaquie Foster 19(11KO)-2 is closer than ever to fighting the first world championship of his career. As part of this Friday Probellum’s evenning, Foster defeated by unanimous decision the capable and brave Tajik Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov 18(10KO)-1 in a WBC eliminator. The scores were 118-109 and double 117-110.
In the first round, Yaqubov, who took the initiative, showed his precision and efficiency, connecting dangerous hands with his straight left and with surprising two-one combinations, but Foster used his reflexes and explosiveness to impact good jabs. and some short straights in the second round. The Tajik pressed again, mainly thanks to his formidable courage, but he no longer had the energy from the beginning of the fight and Foster took advantage of it to reduce the dangers with his defense, find gaps for countering and end up securing the decision victory between the brave attacks of Yaqubov, who was dropped to the canvas once in the last round by a hard straight left.
Since Probellum stated in his promotions that the duel would be a semi-final eliminator and this fits with what was ruled in the WBC Convention, in principle Foster would now fight Robson Conceiçao in a final eliminator. However, taking into account the little respect that the WBC has for its own decisions, it is possible that Foster ends up directly accessing as mandatory challenger to a fight against the winner of the unification Shakur Stevenson vs. Oscar Valdez.
Masoud shined once again
