Un día después de que se confirmase que de momento no habrá Spence-Crawford, Premier Boxing Champions ha anunciado oficialmente una velada que se producirá el día 5 de noviembre en the Armory en Minneapolis, Estados Unidos, televisada por Showtime. Este evento estará encabezado por la insigne promesa cubana del peso supermedio David Morrell Jr., titular regular WBA que se medirá a su retador obligatorio, el kazajo ganador de una eliminatoria Aidos Yerbossynuly.
En el respaldo principal, otro invicto cubano como Yoelvis Gómez se enfrentará en el peso medio al dominicano, excampeón mundial unificado superwélter, Jeison Rosario, mientras que la emisión se abrirá con la segunda pelea en Estados Unidos del invicto peso medio polaco Fiodor Czerkaszyn ante el estadounidense-jamaicano Nathaniel Gallimore.
De cara a esta pugna, Morrell, que reside en Minneapolis (Minnesota, Estados Unidos), señaló:
“El 5 de noviembre voy a dar otro paso hacia consolidarme como el mejor peso supermedio del mundo. Yerbossynuly es un oponente peligroso que nunca ha probado la derrota. Una victoria contra él en Showtime, frente a una ruidosa multitud local en The Armory, me va a catapultar a una pelea contra los mayores nombres del deporte. Voy a ser el siguiente gran peleador que brille en el escenario nacional. Minnesota, estate preparada, porque tu hijo está a punto de ofrecer otro show espectacular”.
Por su parte, Yerbossynuly afirmó:
“He tenido un gran campamento de entrenamiento con mi increíble equipo, que me inspira a esforzarme todos los días. Somos descendientes de Genghis Khan, y vais a ver el poder de los nómadas el 5 de noviembre. Todo nuestro duro trabajo y sacrificio valdrán la pena cuando derrote a David Morrell Jr. y me traiga el título mundial [regular] de vuelta a Kazajistán”.
En cuanto a Gómez, éste dijo:
“Estoy emocionado por volver combatir en Showtime. Jeison Rosario es un excampeón mundial que ha estado en el ring con algunos grandes campeones, y espero una pelea muy dura. Mi meta es lanzar muchos puños potentes y con precisión y ofrecer algo de emoción para quienes lo estén viendo. Como siempre, voy a apuntar al knockout, pero si tengo que ir a la distancia estoy preparado para hacer rounds. ¡El momento de Yoelvis “La Joya” está llegando!”
Su oponente Rosario también se mostró confiado:
“Estoy supermotivado por este combate. He entrenado muy duro y estoy listo para la guerra. Gómez es un buen peleador con mucho talento, pero he derrotado a boxeadores talentosos antes. No estoy preocupado respecto a qué traerá al ring, porque ya he estado ahí y he demostrado que puedo estar cara a cara con todos los leones”.
Czerkaszyn explicó que conoce el boxeo de su rival:
“He estado entrenando desde mi último combate y me he mantenido en forma para estar listo para aprovechar una oportunidad como esta. Me voy a enfrentar a un buen oponente, que es muy rápido. Le he visto entrenar antes en Chicago y he visto sus combates, y sé lo que esperar. Estoy hambriento y estoy listo para mostrar mis habilidades boxísticas el 5 de noviembre”.
Finalmente, Gallimore señaló:
“Estoy muy emocionado por volver al ring y en este gran escenario. Crecí en una familia en que hacíamos las cosas posibles las tuviéramos o no, y esa en mi mentalidad día tras día. Estoy esperando este combate y mostrar que mi tenacidad siempre prevalecerá”.

One day after it was confirmed that there will be no Spence-Crawford for the moment, Premier Boxing Champions has officially confirmed an evening that will take place on November 5 at the Armory in Minneapolis, United States, televised by Showtime. This card will be headlined by the outstanding Cuban super middleweight David Morrell Jr., WBA regular titleholder who will face his mandatory challenger, the Kazakh, winner of an eliminator, Aidos Yerbossynuly.
In the main support, another undefeated Cuban like Yoelvis Gómez will face Dominican former super welterweight unified world champion Jeison Rosario in a middleweight clash, while the broadcast will start with the second fight in the United States of the undefeated Polish middleweight Fiodor Czerkaszyn against the American-Jamaican Nathaniel Gallimore.
Morrell, who lives in Minneapolis (Minnesota, United States), offered the following statement:
“On November 5th, I’m going to take another step toward solidifying myself as the best super middleweight in the world. Yerbossynuly is a dangerous opponent who’s never tasted defeat. A win against him on Showtime, in front of a rowdy hometown crowd at The Armory, is going to catapult me into a fight with the biggest names in the sport. I’m going to be the next big fighter to shine on the national stage. Minnesota, be ready, because your hometown son is about to put on another spectacular show.”
For his part, Yerbossynuly said:
“I’ve had a great training camp with my amazing team that inspires me to push myself every day. We are descendants of Genghis Khan, and you will see the power of the Nomads on November 5. All of our hard work and sacrifice will pay off when I defeat David Morrell Jr. and bring the [regular] world title back to Kazakhstan.”
As for Gomez, he stated:
“I’m excited to be fighting back on Showtime. Jeison Rosario is a former world champion who has been in the ring with some great champions, and I’m expecting a very tough fight. My goal is to throw a lot of hard punches with accuracy and bring some excitement for those watching. Like always, I’ll be gunning for the knockout, but if I have to go the distance, I’m well prepared to go rounds. Yoelvis ‘La Joya’ time is coming!”
His opponent Jeison Rosario is confident too:
“I’m super motivated for this fight. I’ve trained hard and I’m ready for war. Gomez is a good fighter with a lot of talent, but I’ve beaten talented fighters before. I’m not worried about what he brings to the ring because I’ve already been in there and shown I can go toe-to-toe with all the lions.”
Czerkaszyn explained that he knows the characteristics of his rival’s boxing:
“I’ve been training since my last fight and I’ve stayed in shape so that I was ready to take advantage of an opportunity like this. I’m facing a good opponent, who’s very fast. I’ve seen him train before in Chicago and watched his fights, so I know what to expect. I’m hungry and I’m ready to show off my boxing skills on November 5th.”
Lastly, Gallimore said:
“I’m very excited to be back in the ring and on this big stage. I was raised in a family where we made it happen whether we had it or not, and that’s my mentality day in and day out. I’m looking forward to this fight and showing that my tenacity will always prevail.”
