Jaime Munguía y Amanda Serrano buscarán apalear a púgiles castigados y al borde del retiro en sus confirmadas peleas

Teniendo en cuenta que en el pasado reciente se ha medido a púgiles como Gastón Coria o D’Mitrius Ballard, es indudable que en su próxima subida al ring el mexicano Jaime Munguía se enfrentará, de lejos, al mejor boxeador que ha tenido delante en la división del peso medio: el día 10 de junio en el Toyota Arena de Ontario, Estados Unidos, se verá las caras con el ucraniano Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
Sin embargo, aunque sobre el papel puede verse como un paso adelante, como siempre los propagandistas ya se han puesto en marcha para crear un relato falso sobre este combate. Y es que Derevyanchenko no es ya el púgil que asombró con su rendimiento entre 2015 y 2017 y tampoco es el que plantó cara a Gennadiy Golovkin y le ofreció una muy exigente batalla.
Al contrario, “The Technician” está claramente al borde del retiro tras haber encadenado mucho castigo y desgaste en duras pugnas consecutivas contra Daniel Jacobs, Jack Culcay, Gennadiy Golovkin, Jermall Charlo y Carlos Adames, ante los que recibió muy duros golpes de poder. De hecho, en su última pelea ante el citado Adames, aunque incluso el veredicto pudo ser cuestionable, se hizo evidente que Derevyanchenko necesitaba pensar seriamente en el retiro, siendo estremecido repetidas veces, en ocasiones incluso por jabs, y habiendo perdido muchísima explosividad y velocidad.
Así, aunque tirando de astucia y veteranía podría tener sus momentos, es evidente que Derevyanchenko ha sido escogido como rival de Munguía por Golden Boy Promotions como una víctima propiciatoria para que el mexicano, que es más grande, que está muchísimo más fresco y que está mejorando su boxeo poco a poco, pueda usar su potencia para darle la puntilla al ucraniano e inflar su récord. Vamos, la estrategia Golden Boy de casi siempre…
De todos modos, Munguía no será el único que está emplazado a apalear a un veterano al borde del retiro, puesto que el día 5 de agosto, en el American Airlines Center de Dallas, Estados Unidos, la campeona indiscutida del peso pluma, la puertorriqueña Amanda Serrano, se medirá otra vez a la estadounidense Heather Hardy, esta vez en el respaldo de un youtuber. En la primera ocasión, Serrano propinó una gran paliza a Hardy, que tiene enormes brechas boxísticas y una muy mala defensa, tropiezo que fue sucedido para la estadounidense por una inactividad de cerca de dos años y una clara derrota ante Jessica Camara. Tras esto, Hardy sólo ha sumado dos triunfos ante rivales de nivel bajo, la última de las cuales pareció derrotarla pese a lo que dijeron los jueces.
Así, ¿qué méritos ha hecho Hardy para pelear por la corona indiscutida del peso pluma o para merecer una revancha ante Serrano? Simplemente que avanza abierta y sin prestar ninguna atención a la defensa y que tiene mucho castigo acumulado, lo que le permitirá a Serrano anotar un sinfín de golpes de poder y lucir.
Lo más extraño de todo es que encima en torno al primer combate entre ambas Hardy dio positivo en control antidopaje y el equipo de Serrano supuestamente se enfadó mucho con ella… aunque lo cierto es que el equipo de Serrano tiene poco por lo que enfurecerse, ya que Amanda Serrano, su entrenador y cuñado Jordan Maldonado y su hermana Cindy Serrano fueron cazados en una operación policial en 2007 vendiendo esteroides, drogas y otras sustancias prohibidas.

In any case, Munguía will not be the only boxer who will pummel a veteran fighter on the verge of retirement, since on August 5, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, USA, undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano will face Heather Hardy again, this time in the support of a youtuber. On the first occasion, Serrano gave Hardy a severe beating, as the latter has enormous flaws and a very bad defense. After that setback Hardy had an inactivity of nearly two years ended with a clear defeat against Jessica Camara. Since then, Hardy has only added two wins against low-level boxers, the last of which seemed to defeat her despite what the judges said.
So what has Hardy done to deserve a fight for the undisputed featherweight crown or a rematch against Serrano? Simply, that she moves forward with her guard open, doesn’t pay any attention to defense and has a lot of accumulated punishment, which will allow Serrano to score endless power shots and shine.
The strangest thing of all is that around the first match between the two, Hardy tested positive in an anti-doping control and Serrano’s team supposedly got very angry with her… although the truth is that the Serrano team has little to be furious about, since Amanda Serrano, her coach and brother-in-law Jordan Maldonado, and her sister Cindy Serrano were busted in a 2007 police operation selling steroids, drugs, and other prohibited substances.
