Yoshiki Takei retuvo su cinturón mundial arrollando en un asalto al prospecto Tongdee

Seguramente, viendo cómo se desarrolló el combate, algunos piensen que el tailandés Yuttapong Tongdee 15(9KO)-1 era una mera víctima propiciatoria de bajo nivel y nulas expectativas. Pero lo cierto es que éste era un prospecto que había obtenido logros en muay thai y en el boxeo amateur, en el que tuvo una sólida carrera, que le vio obtener el bronce en los Juegos Asiáticos y derrotar al dos veces oro olímpico Robeisy Ramírez. Sin embargo, combinándose su completa falta de experiencia de calidad como profesional y un decisivo golpe en frío, Tongdee fue vapuleado en el primer asalto de su combate contra el campeón mundial WBO del peso gallo, el japonés Yoshiki Takei 11(9KO)-0.
Poco después del comienzo un duro izquierdazo al mentón sorprendió a Tongdee, que cayó aparatosamente sobre la lona. El retador no llegó a recuperarse de este golpe, y en dos ocasiones más tocó el tapiz víctima de las manos izquierdas del zurdo Takei. Finalmente, siendo hostigado Tongdee por las rápidas combinaciones del monarca mundial sin poder ofrecer respuesta, el árbitro paró el combate y dio la victoria a Takei.
Tras esta defensa voluntaria, el número 1 del ranking es el mexicano Christian “Chispa” Medina, aunque no pasa por alto la posibilidad de que antes de una defensa obligatoria pueda medirse en una unificación de tres cinturones al ganador del choque entre sus compatriotas Junto Nakatani y Ryosuke Nishida, que se disputará la semana que viene.

Surely, seeing how the fight unfolded, some might think that Thai Yuttapong Tongdee 15(9KO)-1 was a mere journeyman with low level and zero expectations. But the truth is that Tongdee was a prospect who had achieved success in Muay Thai and amateur boxing, where he had a solid career, which saw him win a bronze medal at the Asian Games and defeat two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramírez. However, as a consequence of a combination of his complete lack of quality experience as a professional and a decisive early punch, Tongdee was thrashed in the first round of his fight against WBO bantamweight champion, Japanese Yoshiki Takei 11(9KO)-0.
Shortly after the start, a hard left overhand to the chin hit Tongdee, who fell heavily to the canvas. The challenger never recovered from this blow, and twice more he touched the mat victim to new left hands from the southpaw Takei. Finally, as Tongdee was attacked by the world champion’s quick combinations and was unable to answer, the referee stopped the fight and awarded the victory to Takei.
After this voluntary defense, Takei’s number 1 contender is Mexican Christian «Chispa» Medina although, before a mandatory defense, we should not overlook the possibility of a three-belt unification bout against the winner of the clash between his compatriots Junto Nakatani and Ryosuke Nishida, which will take place next week.
