Los mejores combates del fin de semana (2-4/2/2023)

Con carteleras con combates interesantes el jueves, el viernes y el sábado, incluidos un mundial masculino y dos campeonatos indiscutidos femeninos, aunque en esta semana habrá pocos eventos destacables, habrá suficiente a lo que prestar atención.
Jueves 2 de febrero
En esta jornada Eye of the Tiger Management y ESPN+ ofrecerán desde el Montreal Casino de Montreal, Canadá, un evento en el que participarán dos clasificados mundiales como el invicto peso supermedio Erik Bazinyan 28(21KO)-0 y el peso superligero Yvess Ulysse Jr. 22(12KO)-2. Empezando por el choque estelar, Bazinyan, 3º WBA y WBO además de 4º WBC, buscará que se hagan comparaciones entre él y David Morrell enfrentándose al estadounidense Alantez Fox 28(13KO)-3(2)-1, que no boxea desde que el púgil cubano lo batió en cuatro rounds en diciembre de 2021.
Por otro lado, Ulysse, 14º WBC del peso superligero, intentará llevar su racha de victorias a cinco midiéndose al mexicano Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela 25(15KO)-3(1)-1, que cuenta en su récord con una victoria contra pronóstico en Reino Unido ante Robbie Davies Jr. y que en su última pelea se anotó un knockdown y ofreció una exigente pugna en Estados Unidos ante Montana Love.
Viernes 3 de febrero
Pasando al viernes, en este día tendrá lugar un evento de Top Rank y ESPN en el que el mexicano Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete intentará coronarse en una tercera división midiéndose al australiano Liam Wilson por el vacante cinturón WBO del peso superpluma. En el semifondo, el invicto peso superligero estadounidense Arnold Barboza Jr. afrontará su mayor prueba hasta la fecha ante el excampeón mundial puertorriqueño José Pedraza. Sábado 4 de febrero
El mayor evento de este día será un cartel de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN que contará con dos campeonatos indiscutidos femeninos. En uno la puertorriqueña Amanda Serrano y la mexicana Erika Cruz combatirán por unificar todos los cetros del peso pluma, y en el otro la estadounidense Alycia Baumgardner y la francesa Elhem Mekhaled pugnarán por los cuatro cinturones del peso superpluma. Cambiando de evento, también destaca una nueva pelea para el oro olímpico ruso Albert “AL BA” Batyrgaziev 7(5KO)-0 que continuará su andadura en el peso ligero (tras escalar súbitamente desde el peso pluma en 2022) enfrentándose, en el Sport Palace “Nadezhda” de Sérpujov, Rusia, al excampeón mundial panameño Jezzrel “El Invisible” Corrales 26(10KO)-4(1). Este es de lejos el mayor test de la carrera profesional de Batyrgaziev no sólo por el palmarés y la experiencia del visitante, sino porque además Corrales es un boxeador intrincado que viene de asestarle la primera derrota de su carrera al invicto pegador mexicano Miguel Madueño.
Así que Batyrgaziev necesitará aplicar las lecciones aprendidas ante Ricardo Núñez para intentar lograr un sólido triunfo que le ayude a disipar parte de las dudas que algunos han empezado a tener respecto a su proyección.
Al margen de los combates arriba mencionados, también restan por destacar estos otros:
-En el Argensporthalle de Wangen im Allgaeu, Alemania, el peso superligero alemán Timo Schwarzkopf 21(13KO)-5, que no tiene un gran récord reciente, afrontará una pelea potencialmente difícil ante el experimentado exmonarca mundial mexicano Miguel “Títere” Vázquez 44(17KO)-11(3).
-En el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, el peso mosca Seigo Yuri Akui 17(11KO)-2(2)-1, 1º WBA, intentará mantenerse preparado y al alcance del mundial enfrentándose al invicto y competente filipino Jayson Vayson 10(5KO)-0-1.
-En el Friedrich-Ebert-Halle de Ludwigshafen, Alemania, Universum emitirá por YouTube un combate del peso pesado en el que el ruso-francés Mourad “White Wolf” Aliev 6(4KO)-0 buscará escalar desde el puesto 34º del ranking WBC peleando por un título menor ante un rival teóricamente con un nivel mucho más bajo que el suyo como el alemán Ali “Iron” Kiydin 16(15KO)-1(1).
-En la Asociación Vecinal Barrio Díaz Vélez de San Lorenzo, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará un choque en el que el 19º WBC del peso superligero José “Sansón” Rosa 18(13KO)-0 debería poder vencer solventemente al colombiano Didier Castillo 7(5KO)-1-1.

With events featuring interesting bouts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, including a men’s world championship and two women’s undisputed championships, despite this week there will be few notable cards, there will be enough fights to pay attention to.
Thursday, February 2
On this day, Eye of the Tiger Management and ESPN+ will offer an evening from the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada, in which will participate two world ranked fighters such as the undefeated super middleweight Erik Bazinyan 28(21KO)-0 and the super lightweight Yvess Ulysse Jr. 22(12KO)-2. Starting with the main event, Bazinyan, WBA and WBO number 3 as well as WBC number 4, will look to draw comparisons between himself and David Morrell facing American Alantez Fox 28(13KO)-3(2)-1, who has not boxed since the Cuban beat him in four rounds in December 2021.
On the other hand, Ulysse, WBC number 13, will try to take his winning streak to five victories facing the Mexican Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela 25(15KO)-3(1)-1, who achieved an upset victory in the United Kingdom against Robbie Davies Jr. and that in his last fight scored a knock down and offered a demanding fight in the United States against Montana Love.
Friday, February 3
Moving on to Friday, on this day there will be a world championship for the vacant WBO super featherweight belt in which the Mexican Emanuel «Vaquero» Navarrete will try to become titlist in a third weight division fighting Australian Liam Wilson. In the co-feature bout, undefeated American super lightweight Arnold Barboza Jr. will face his biggest test to date against Puerto Rican former world champion José Pedraza. Saturday, February 4
The biggest card of the day will be the one organized by Matchroom Boxing and aired through DAZN featuring two undisputed female championships. In one, Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano and Mexican Erika Cruz will fight to unify all the featherweight titles, while in the other American Alycia Baumgardner and French Elhem Mekhaled will battle with the four super featherweight belts at stake. On Saturday also stands out a new fight for Russian Olympic gold medalist Albert “AL BA” Batyrgaziev 7(5KO)-0, who will continue his run at lightweight (after suddenly moving up from featherweight in 2022) facing, at the Sport Palace «Nadezhda» in Serpukhov, Russia, Panamanian former world champion Jezzrel «El Invisible» Corrales 26(10KO)-4(1). This is by far the biggest test of Batyrgaziev’s professional career, not only because of the record and the experience of his opponent, but also because Corrales is a tricky boxer who is coming from dealing the first loss of his career to undefeated Mexican puncher Miguel Madueño.
So Batyrgaziev will need to apply the lessons learned against Ricardo Núñez to try to achieve a solid victory that could allow him to dispel part of the doubts that some have begun to have regarding his projection.
Apart from the fights mentioned above, these others also remain to be highlighted:
-In the Argensporthalle in Wangen im Allgaeu, Germany, German super lightweight Timo Schwarzkopf 21(13KO)-5, who does not have a great recent record, will face a potentially difficult fight against the experienced Mexican former champion Miguel «Títere» Vázquez 44(17KO)-11(3).
-At the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, flyweight Seigo Yuri Akui 17(11KO)-2(2)-1, WBA number 1, will try to stay prepared and within reach of the world championship fight battling undefeated and competent Filipino Jayson Vayson 10(5KO)-0-1.
-At the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Universum will broadcast a heavyweight bout through YouTube in which Russian-French Mourad “White Wolf” Aliev 6(4KO)-0 will seek to climb from his position in the WBC ranking (he is number 34) fighting for a minor title against an opponent theoretically with a much lower level than his as the German Ali «Iron» Kiydin 16(15KO)-1(1).
-In the Asociación Vecinal Barrio Díaz Vélez in San Lorenzo, Argentina, TyC Sports will televise a fight in which the WBC super lightweight number 19 José «Sansón» Rosa 18(13KO)-0 should be able to score a wide victory over Colombian Didier Castillo 7(5KO)-1-1.
