Ukrainian super welterweight puncher Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk maintained his 100% of knockout victories by beating Nathaniel Gallimore in the sixth round. Until now, Gallimore had only been stopped at the hands of Sebastian Fundora. Read more following the link.

Regarding the super flyweight bout between Francisco «Chihuas» Rodríguez 37(25KO)-6(1)-1 and Joel «El Trino» Córdova 13(3KO)-7(3)-2, it was the former who achieved victory by unanimous decision in an intense fight. The scorecards were 96-94, 97-93 and a 99-91 that has caused notable controversy. In any case, Rodríguez begins 2023 returning to winning ways so, having recent meritorious performances against elite fighters (Ioka and Nakatani) and a current position as IBF number 6 and WBO number 10, everything seems to indicate that in this season he will reach an important fight again, perhaps after a few more tune-up bouts.

As for Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin 25(14KO)-1, he went eight rounds in his stay-busy fight against Mexican-American Helaman Olguín 9(4KO)-5(3)-1, whom he defeated by unanimous decision ( 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73). Wallin and his promoter are hoping to get a fight against a top opponent by mid-season. However, given the trouble the fighter has been having finding good level opponents after the horrible cut he caused to Tyson Fury in 2019, there is no guarantee that they will achieve their objective in the projected time frame.

Artur Beterbiev

Saturday, January 28
WBC-IBF-WBO unified world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev had a tough matchup against his powerful mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde, who despite being rocked as early as the third round, and normally having serious stamina issues due to his enormous musculature, showed an incredible capacity to recover. Beterbiev finally won via eight-round TKO. Before this fight, Moses Itauma and Tommy Fletcher scored victories, while Karol Itauma was upset by Ezequiel Maderna. Read more following the link.

As for what should have been the co-main event, the WBA world flyweight championship between Artem Dalakian and David «Medallita» Jiménez, they offered a good clash, the former prevailing by narrow difference. Read more following the link.

Moving on to the Golden Boy Promotions evening, welterweight Alexis Rocha did as expected and knocked out veteran Ghanaian substitute George “Red Tiger” Ashie in the seventh round. After the clash, Rocha aimed for a fight against Crawford. Read more following the link.

The Rocha-Ashie bout was preceded by a lopsided win for lightweight prospect Floyd Schofield over Alberto Mercado and a third round stoppage victory for super middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev over Ulises Sierra. Read more following the link.

Óscar Collazo

The main card also featured a spectacular fifth-round win for promising minimumweight Óscar Collazo against Yudel Reyes, thus becoming WBO mandatory challenger for champion Melvin Jerusalem. Read more following the link.

Saturday also had these other results:
-Promising Tajik lightweight Bakhodur Usmonov 4(1KO)-0 dealt the fastest loss of his career to Dmitrii Khasiev 12(6KO)-5(3)-2 with a fourth round TKO. According to Usmonov’s coach, his objective now is to prepare for the 2024 Olympics.
-Former light flyweight world champion Masamichi Yabuki 15(14KO)-4(2) dominated his fight against Ronald Chacón 28(20KO)-2(1)-1 before defeating him by TKO in the eleventh round. Having already recovered his morale after his defeat against Teraji, Yabuki should start looking for challenging fights to get closer to a new clash against an elite opponent.
-Super featherweight Bernard Angelo Torres 17(8KO)-1 fulfilled the expectations and returned to the path of victory defeating Cristian Ávila 18(14KO)-8(6)-1 by eight-round TKO.
-As predictable, or even more, was the coronation as South American flyweight champion of Jeremías Reyes 10(9KO)-0, who defeated Edinson Martínez 11(9KO)-2(2)-2 by seventh round TKO.
