Without fights against Munguía or Andrade, the British boxers John Ryder and Zach Parker will face each other on November 26

Weeks ago it was leaked that Jaime Munguía and John Ryder were negotiating a possible confrontation for the month of November. However, this fight did not materialize, as many other fights in Munguia’s recent career that were also on the table against Janibek Alimkhanuly, Demetrius Andrade and Gennadiy Golovkin.

On the other hand, regarding the aforementioned Andrade, he ended up vacating his WBO world belt to avoid facing Janibek Alimkhanuly and later made Zach Parker lose a year of his career. It must be remembered that Andrade stated twice that he was willing to face Parker before withdrawing of the bouts both times.

Thus, as there are boxers who want to fight and others who are only focused on eluding risks, the British John Ryder and Zach Parker have had no choice but to find an alternative plan, which will lead them to face each other on November 26 headlining a Frank Warren event from the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.

This clash will have a WBO interim super middleweight title at stake, so the winner will become Canelo’s mandatory challenger and, if the Mexican vacates his belt, he will become full world champion.

Supporting the Parker-Ryder fight will step into the ring undefeated fighters such as middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz, super lightweight Pierce O’Leary, super bantamweight Dennis McCann and lightweight Sam Noakes.

In the official announcement, Frank Warren stated:

“We have got a cracking show lined up for The 02, headlined by what should be an absolute stormer between our man Zach Parker and the highly respected John Ryder for the WBO Interim world title at super middleweight. We were expecting Zach to come up against Demetrius Andrade, but with Andrade having pulled out for the second time, now it gives us a bigger domestic clash against the no.2 contender, Ryder. The winner will be the mandatory for when Canelo Alvarez is forced back into action at super middleweight, or elects to vacate his belts.

As for the undercard, Warren said:

“Future world champions – in my book – Hamzah Sheeraz and Pierce O’Leary, will be in big fights and our top young prospects Dennis McCann and Sam Noakes are again in title action against highly competitive opponents who will give them their toughest tests to date.”
