Ataev soprpendió a Zalilov

Aliev and Ataev scored upset victories over Kamilov and Zalilov, Samedov overwhelmed his rival

Coming from a wide win over Stanislav Kalitskiy, it was clear that the super featherweight Murad Aliev 4(1KO)-0-1 was not a fighter to be underestimated. All in all, Aliev again went beyond expectations to defeat the unbeaten and astute Ruslan Kamilov 12(6KO)-1-1 by unanimous decision, scoring also a knockdown.

Aliev was very focused, ordered and sharp with the jab at the start, not allowing Kamilov to get comfortable. Also, in the second round Aliev dropped his rival with a counter jab, although the referee mistakenly did not count. The fight had become quite difficult for Kamilov, who tried to use his experience, cunning and opportunism to react. Feinting a lot before his attacks, taking advantage of rival’s mistakes to land short-range counters and using and increased mobility, Kamilov had his moments, but Aliev kept being very precise with his jab and with his occasional straight rights, and in the fifth round he scored a knockdown with a counter right uppercut.

In this way, although Kamilov tried to avoid defeat throwing short combinations, with the difference in the scorecards added to the solidity and regularity that Aliev had until the end, the latter ended up securing the victory.

Samedov steamrolled Karimov
Aliev’s triumph was preceded by a victory of the 14th IBF lightweight Elnur Samedov 14(5KO)-1, who used his power to win in the first round a super featherweight duel against the undefeated Uzbek Javokhirbek Karimov 6(3KO)-1(1)-1.

The fight had little to analyze, since the southpaw Samedov sought to shorten the distance and work with his hard hooks down. With a hook to the liver, Samedov brought to the mat his opponent, who got up during the count but couldn’t avoid being knocked down again after the restart by another body shot. This was the end of the bout, as Karimov got up late and the third man stopped the clash.

Ataev beat Zalilov
Since he achieved a draw against the Olympic bronze medalist Vladimir Nikitin in January 2021, the Kazakh featherweight Yerzhan Zalilov 13(7KO)-4-2 had scored two stoppage victories that had consolidated his good moment. However, on Saturday Zalilov suffered an upset defeat against the tough Russian Armen Ataev 7(4KO)-4(1)-1, who won by unanimous decision and who could have obtained a TKO if his rival had not been so resistant.

With a good right hand Zalilov rocked Ataev in the first round, but this did not dissuade the brave Russian fighter, who put pressure intensely unleashing combinations of hooks up and down. Thus Ataev caused a serious nosebleed in his opponent, who was soon worn out by the hardness of the battle and who could not remain as mobile as usual. Despite the difficulties, Zalilov answered with precise and forceful counterpunches, but his work was much less constant than that of Ataev, who maintained his aggressiveness with fierce combinations of hooks and uppercuts to achieve a clear victory.
