La campeona unificada Cameron defendió ante Bustos, Alen Babić ofreció nueva emocionante batalla ante Adam Balski

En unos meses la británica Chantelle Cameron 16(8KO)-0 podría coronarse campeona indiscutida ante la titular unificada Kali Reis, pero por el momento la campeona WBC e IBF del peso superligero se contentó con una defensa exitosa ante la extitular argentina Victoria “La Leona” Bustos 23(0KO)-7, a la que venció por amplia decisión unánime (triple 100-90).
Cameron no quiso dejar nada en el aire, así que tomó la iniciativa, usó su jab con decisión y sus uno-dos para conectar golpes claros ante Bustos. Ésta trató de moverse, bloquear y contragolpear con sus hooks pero, aunque tuvo momentos de éxito, no logró equiparar el trabajo de la excelente local. Fue por esto que antes de la mitad “La Leona” ajustó e intentó avanzar sobre su contrincante, aunque Cameron no cedió terreno y sacó buenos directos diestros y ganchos zurdos en el centro del ring.
Si su adversaria no hubiese sido una experimentada excampeona, Cameron podría haber logrado generar daños cruciales, pero Bustos supo sobrellevar los golpes de poder y hacer lo que pudo para ser competitiva con sus hooks en los cruces antes de volver a presionar con valentía. Con su voluntad la argentina generó rounds de trabajo a Cameron y le impidió que pudiese relajarse, pero terminados los diez episodios la monarca había retenido sus cinturones claramente.
Babić ganó trepidante combate
Por primera vez en su carrera profesional el croata Alen “The Savage” Babić 11(10KO)-0 alcanzó una decisión de los jueces ante el polaco Adam Balski 16(9KO)-2, si bien esto no impidió que el invicto ofreciese otra pelea muy entretenida. En ella, pactada en el peso puente, Babić tuvo dos momentos de gran dificultad, pero terminó logrando una merecida victoria por decisión unánime (doble 97-91 y un 95-93).
Como siempre, Babić salió dispuesto a jugárselo a todo o nada, lo que esta vez le supuso padecer un knockdown en el primer asalto por un curvo zurdo a la contra, si bien el golpe pareció llegar a la parte trasera de la cabeza. De todos modos, la caída ni mucho menos disuadió al croata, que siguió atacando con gran agresividad y ningún orden a un Balski que buscaba conectar contragolpes duros. Así la pelea se desarrolló repleta de acción, contundencia y tosquedad, acertando y fallando ambos en intercambios bastante desesperados.
Pese a la igualdad inicial del combate, Babić fue quien generalmente logró mejores resultados en la pelea cuerpo a cuerpo a través de sus furiosos golpes de poder curvos ante un Balski que llegaba con buenas manos pero que pareció cansarse antes y que no tenía la misma cadencia de golpeo. Así Babić fue creando una tendencia favorable que le fue asentando cada vez más por delante en las tarjetas, logrando además estremecer con sus hooks al polaco en el séptimo round y volver a ponerle en apuros serios en el octavo.
Con todo, el duro Balski aguantó, trató de seguir contestando y tras la campana del final del noveno asalto conectó un brutal golpe de poder que dañó mucho a Babić. Al comienzo del décimo el árbitro descontó un punto a Balski, pero Babić estaba en muy mal estado, algo que desaprovechó el visitante caminando por el ring inicialmente, terminando de todos modos el duelo en nuevos brutales y trepidantes intercambios.

In a few months the British Chantelle Cameron 16(8KO)-0 could be crowned undisputed champion against the unified titleholder Kali Reis, but for the moment the WBC and IBF super lightweight champion settled with a successful defense of her belts against the former titleholder Victoria “La Leona” Bustos 23(0KO)-7. Cameron beat Bustos by wide unanimous decision (triple 100-90).
Cameron didn’t want to leave anything up in the air, so she took the initiative, used her jab with determination and her firm one-twos to land clear shots against Bustos. The latter tried to move, block and counter with her hooks but, although she had moments of success, she didn’t match the work of the excellent local boxer. It was for this that, before the half point, «La Leona» adjusted and tried to advance on her opponent, although Cameron stood her ground and landed good right hands and left hooks in the center of the ring.
If her opponent hadn’t been a seasoned former champion, Cameron could have managed to deal decisive damage, but Bustos was able to resist her power shots and do what she could to try to be competitive with her hooks in exchanges before trying to press again. With her will, the Argentinian gave work to Cameron and not allowed her to relax, but after the ten rounds the monarch had retained her belts clearly.
Babić won an exciting fight
For the first time in his professional career the Croatian Alen “The Savage” Babić 11(10KO)-0 reached a decision against the Pole Adam Balski 16(9KO)-2, although this did not prevent the undefeated from offering another very entertaining fight. In it, agreed in the bridgerweight division, Babić had two moments of great difficulty, but ended up achieving a deserved victory by unanimous decision (double 97-91 and 95-93).
As always, Babić came out ready to go all-or-nothing, which this time resulted in him suffering a first-round knockdown by a counter left hook, though the blow seemed to the back of the head. In any case, the fall did not dissuade the Croatian, who continued to attack with great aggressiveness against Balski, who was looking to connect hard counterattacks. Thus the fight developed full of action, forcefulness and lack of order, with both landing and missing punches in quite desperate exchanges.
Despite the initial evenness of the duel, Babić was the one who generally achieved better results in the close range fight through his furious power shots against Balski, who connected good hands but seemed to tire and did not have the same punching rate as his rival. So Babić was creating a favorable trend that was establishing him more and more ahead on the scorecards, also managing to shake the Pole with his hooks in the seventh round and put him in serious trouble again in the eighth round.
Still, the tough Balski resisted, tried to keep answering and after the bell at the end of the ninth round he landed a brutal power shot that hurt Babić badly. At the beginning of the tenth the referee deducted a point from Balski, but Babić was clearly hurt, something that the visitor wasted initially by walking through the ring. However, the duel ended in new brutal and exciting exchanges.
