Originalmente, el duelo se iba a disputar un viernes en Ekaterimburgo, Rusia, pero finalmente se producirá este sábado en La Palestre de Le Cannet, Francia, siendo el nuevo respaldo principal dos campeonatos de Europa con claros favoritos locales: uno del peso superwélter entre el francés Milan Prat y el neerlandés Stephan Danyo y el otro del peso supermedio entre el francés Kevin Lele Sadjo y el alemán Emre Cukur].

A la vez que RCC Boxing Promotions anunció que el sábado 11 de diciembre iba a organizar una velada que iba a contar con el campeonato mundial WBA del peso semipesado, también informó de que el día antes, el viernes 10, ofrecería una cartelera menor a modo de “antesala”. Y es que el evento que quedó programado para este viernes en la Academia de RCC en un principio fue una velada para prospectos. Con todo, finalmente ha surgido un combate estelar que va mucho más allá de lo que se esperaría de un cartel secundario, ya que se producirá un excelente campeonato mundial WBA del peso crucero entre el monarca francés Arsen “Feroz” Goulamirian 26(18KO)-0 y el ruso Aleksei Egorov 11(7KO)-0.
Estos boxeadores no están siendo valorados como se merecen, ya que en algunos rankings extraoficiales pretenciosos ni siquiera estaban posicionados entre los mejores de la división (no siendo ello debido a que estuviesen entonces inactivos) o tenían por encima a púgiles de un nivel manifiestamente inferior pero, por ejemplo, estadounidenses. Sin embargo, si se deja de lado el sesgo nacional, o se obvia el hecho de que algunos “expertos” de boxeo ven los menos combates posibles que no sean de estrellas y que elaboran sus rankings aleatoriamente (o basándose en el de otros analistas), el hecho es que Goulamirian y Egorov son púgiles de mucho nivel y cuyo enfrentamiento parece realmente interesante.
El monarca es un boxeador que siempre busca tomar la iniciativa y mermar a sus contrincantes con golpes de poder, algo que ha logrado culminar en victorias antes del límite en sus seis últimos combates, destacando sus triunfos ante los invictos Ryad Merhy y Constantin Bejenaru.
Por su parte, Egorov es un boxeador con gran recorrido amateur ( fue oro europeo y nacional ruso, además de tres veces plata, y logró victorias ante rivales como el plata olímpico Clemente Russo) que como profesional ha mostrado cualidades técnicas y potencia en buenas cantidades. De hecho, si bien su nivel de oposición no ha sido de crítica dificultad, hasta ahora no ha encontrado demasiados impedimentos en su ascenso y ha sumado triunfos ante Thomas Oosthuizen y las piedras de toque Lateef Kayode, Roman Golovaschenko y Andrei Kniazev, a quienes les asestó las derrotas más rápidas de sus carreras (venció en cuatro asaltos menos a Kniazev de los que necesitó Usyk).
Por lo tanto este es un cruce con muchos alicientes, y con el potencial de resultar entretenido, entre dos boxeadores invictos, muy fuertes y que saben que están ante un punto de inflexión en sus carreras. Dado que tiene más experiencia profesional y su resistencia a la fatiga parece mayor, para muchos Goulamirian será favorito. No obstante, ambos han tenido resultados similares ante adversarios en común (como Hamilton Ventura y Alexander Kubich) y hasta ahora el monarca no se ha encontrado con un retador que tenga tantas armas para mantener el terreno como Egorov, que posee mucho desarrollo muscular, pegada y una gran selección de puños para encontrar los huecos.
Por lo tanto, este es un duelo sin un abrumador favorito cuyo resultado podría depender de cómo consiga cada uno de ellos ejecutar su plan de batalla. Y es que si Goulamirian puede empujar hacia las cuerdas a su contrincante y trabaja con persistencia podría generar muchas dificultades a Egorov quien, en cambio, si se anticipa con sus contundentes combinaciones, frena y mantiene ocupado a su adversario con puños disuasorios y explota su capacidad para variar trayectorias, es perfectamente capaz de salir con el título mundial en su poder.

For his part, Egorov is a boxer with a long and successful amateur career (he was European and Russian national gold medalist, in addition to three times silver medalist, and scored victories against boxers such as the Olympic silver medalist Clemente Russo), who as a professional has shown technical qualities and a lot of power.
In fact, although the level of his opposition has not been very high, so far he has not encountered too many obstacles in his rise to the top of the rankings and has added wins against Thomas Oosthuizen and the stepping stones Lateef Kayode, Roman Golovaschenko and Andrei Kniazev, to whom he delivered the quickest losses of their careers (he beat Kniazev in four rounds less than Usyk needed).
Therefore, this is an intriguing fight, and with the potential to be entertaining, between two undefeated and very strong boxers who know that they are facing a turning point in their careers.
