El campeón mundial IBF del peso mosca Sunny “Showtime” Edwards dominó la primera mitad de su pugna ante Félix Alvarado y resistió una reacción del peligroso nicaragüense en la segunda para lograr una merecida victoria unánime, con la que demostró hasta dónde llegan sus cualidades. Respecto al oro olímpico ruso Albert «AL BA» Batyrgaziev, éste no estuvo ni siquiera cerca de lograr una victoria tan contundente como Gervonta Davis ante el fuerte panameño Ricardo «El Científico» Núñez, que le obligó a trabajar. El campeonato de Italia por el vacante cinturón del peso ligero terminó con el imbatido Daniel “Cobra” Spada 13(4KO)-1 sufriendo la primera derrota de su carrera profesional ante Marvin Demollari 11(2KO)-4, que se coronó con un triunfo por decisión mayoritaria de los jueces (97-92, 97-93 y 95-95). Finalmente respecto al viernes, el campeón de Argentina del peso ligero Claudio “Chaito” Daneff 17(8KO)-2(1)-1 cumplió con lo esperado y retuvo su cinturón ante el retador Axel “El Misil” Isla 7(1KO)-2, si bien sólo lo logró por ajustada decisión dividida (96-94, 97-93 y 94-96), lo que no resulta un gran precedente antes de encarar una posible prueba de fuego en 2023.
Sábado 12 de noviembre
Aunque no tuvo la mejor de sus actuaciones y los comentaristas americanos de ESPN+ hicieron un trabajo horrible, el campeón mundial WBO del peso medio Janibek Alimkhanuly logró una clara victoria por decisión unánime ante Denzel Bentley, que superó las expectativas con su rendimiento. Puede que Alimkhanuly no brillase, pero al menos no tuvo una actuación como la del peso superligero Montana Love ante su público. Y es que Love, que se enfrentaba a un Stevie Spark escogido como víctima propiciatoria, fue tácticamente incomodado, derribado y amedrentado y buscó una salida de la pelea a través de una descalificación tirando a su rival del ring. También se escucharon abucheos en el combate coestelar, en el que Richardson Hitchins no impresionó al público con su contenido boxeo ante un Yomar Álamo que ofreció una mala actuación. En cuanto a los dos restantes choques de la cartelera principal del Love-Spark, el invicto peso superpluma Christian Tapia fue derribado y vencido a manos de Thomas Mattice, mientras que la plata olímpica Beatriz Ferreira se anotó dos knockdowns y derrotó por decisión a Taynna Cardoso. En cuanto al evento de BOXXER, como era de esperar los cinturones WBC, WBO e IBF del peso superwélter fueron aunados por la británica Natasha Jonas 13(8KO)-2(1)-1, que logró una victoria por decisión unánime (100-90, 98-92 y 97-93) ante la nada contundente Marie Eve Dicaire 18(1KO)-2. Evidentemente, este triunfo emplaza a Jonas a un choque por la corona indiscutida ante la titular WBA Terri Harper (ante la que empató en 2020), si bien sobre la mesa se han puesto ya también otras opciones para 2023 en forma de posibles peleas ante Claressa Shields, Katie Taylor, Jessica McCaskill, etc.
Respecto al respaldo del Jonas-Dicaire, el titular británico del peso superligero Dalton Smith 13(10KO)-0 obtuvo la victoria más ajustada y más trabajada de su carrera con una decisión unánime (115-114, 116-113 y 117-112) ante Kaisee Benjamin 16(6KO)-2-1, por lo que el segundo mejoró su valoración drásticamente mientras quedó claro que el primero, pese a su potencial, todavía necesita desarrollarse y acumular experiencia antes de mirar a la escena internacional.
Por otro lado, Bradley Rea 14(5KO)-1 sufrió su primera derrota ante el campeón de Inglaterra del peso medio Tyler Denny 15(0KO)-2(1)-3, que prolongó así la mejor racha de resultados de su carrera, y el prospecto del peso pesado Frazer Clarke 4(3KO)-0 se convirtió en otro púgil más que sólo pudo vencer a los puntos (juez-árbitro 60-54) al duro polaco Kamil Sokolowski 11(4KO)-27(4)-3.
Mencionados estos resultados, se pueden señalar también estos otros:
-El peso semipesado Dilmurod Satybaldiev 13(4KO)-3 no pudo dar continuidad a su triunfo ante Vlasov, sino que fue sorprendido por el exretador mundial Igor Mikhalkin 25(11KO)-3(2), quien, con un triunfo por decisión unánime, se ganó una llamada para hacer de test de un boxeador con aspiraciones en el top 15 de la división.
-El peso superwélter Jack Culcay 32(13KO)-4 venció por decisión unánime (79-74, 79-76 y 77-75) su rodaje ante el italiano Damiano Falcinelli 15(7KO)-2(1) y quedó a la espera de que se desatasque la situación en la división. El campeón unificado es Charlo, que se tiene que medir a Tszyu, mientras que Murtazaliev y Culcay son número 1 y número 2 en el ranking IBF.
-El dos veces olímpico Alberto “Impacto” Melián 10(6KO)-2-1 cogió algo de aire con un KO en el sexto round sobre Carlos “Pitbull” Rodrigues 13(8KO)-1(1)-1, y podría aparecer en el top 15 WBO del peso pluma por la captura de un título menor, y Diego Chaves 28(23KO)-9(5)-1 fue batido KOT en el quinto round por el peso superwélter Jonathan Sánchez 23(11KO)-6(1)-1.
-El peso wélter Josh Wagner 14(7KO)-0 y el peso supermedio Shakeel Phinn 24(17KO)-3-1 lograron previsibles victorias ante Yaser Yueksel 13(4KO)-6(2)-1, por KOT en el tercer round, y Vladimir Belujsky 12(8KO)-5(1)-1, por decisión unánime (100-90, 99-91 y 98-92)
-El peso superwélter argentino Ismael “El Terrible” Flores 8(6KO)-0-1 le asestó en el primer asalto la derrota más rápida de su carrera al correoso Fouad El Massoudi 18(2KO)-18(2)-1, por lo que pareció listo para un significativo paso adelante. En cuanto a Rikar Urrutia 6(0KO)-1 éste venció a los puntos al remplazo de Saúl Luna, el mexicano José Ángel Rosales 6(3KO)-5(1).

Friday, November 11
IBF world flyweight champion Sunny «Showtime» Edwards dominated the first half of his fight against Felix Alvarado and resisted a rally from the dangerous Nicaraguan in the second half to achieve a well-deserved unanimous decision victory, with which he showed his qualities. The very strong featherweight Nick Ball only needed one round to get rid of the Mexican Jesús “Koreano” Ramírez and thus continue his climb in the WBC ranking. Regarding the Russian Olympic gold medalist Albert “AL BA” Batyrgaziev, he was not even close to achieving a victory as forceful as Gervonta Davis against the strong Panamanian Ricardo “El Científico” Núñez, who gave him rounds of work. Despite he didn’t have the best of his performances and ESPN+ commentators did a horrible job, WBO world middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly scored a clear unanimous decision victory over Denzel Bentley, who exceeded expectations with his performance. In the co-feature, WBA world minimumweight champion Seniesa Estrada defeated Jazmín Villarino. Article of the Alimkhanuly-Bentley fight following the link.
Alimkhanuly did not dazzle, but at least he didn’t put on a performance like super lightweight Montana Love in front of his home crowd. Love, who was facing an opponent chosen as a stepping stone like Stevie Spark, was intimidated and knocked down and sought a way out of the fight through a disqualification by pushing his rival out of the ring. There were also booing in the co-main event, in which Richardson Hitchins did not impress the fans with his boxing against Yomar Álamo, who offered a poor performance. On the other hand, Raymond Ford scored a good knockout over Sakaria Lukas. Read more following the link.
As for the remaining two matches on the Love-Spark main card, undefeated super featherweight Christian Tapia was knocked down and beaten by Thomas Mattice, while Olympic silver medalist Beatriz Ferreira scored two knockdowns and defeated Taynna Cardoso by decision. Read more following the link.
As for the BOXXER event, as expected, the WBC, WBO and IBF super welterweight belts were unified by the British Natasha Jonas 13(8KO)-2(1)-1, who achieved a victory by unanimous decision (100- 90, 98-92 and 97-93) over the weak-puncher Marie Eve Dicaire 18(1KO)-2. This win makes a clash for the undisputed crown against the WBA titleholder Terri Harper (against whom she fought to a draw in 2020) an obvious option, although other bouts have already been mentioned for Jonas’ 2023 season, as possible fights against Claressa Shields, Katie Taylor, Jessica McCaskill, etc.
Regarding the Jonas-Dicaire support, the British super lightweight champion Dalton Smith 13(10KO)-0 obtained the closest and hardest victory of his career to date with a unanimous decision (115-114, 116-113 and 117-112) over Kaisee Benjamin 16(6KO)-2-1, so the latter improved his prestige drastically while it became clear that the former, despite his potential, still needs to develop and accumulate experience before looking at the international scene.
On the other hand, Bradley Rea 14(5KO)-1 suffered his first loss against the English middleweight champion Tyler Denny 15(0KO)-2(1)-3, who thus prolonged the best streak of results in his career, and heavyweight prospect Frazer Clarke 4(3KO)-0 became yet another fighter who could only beat on points (judge-referee 60-54) the tough Pole Kamil Sokolowski 11(4KO)-27(4)-3.
Having mentioned these results, these others can also be highlighted:
-Light heavyweight Dilmurod Satybaldiev 13(4KO)-3 could not add another significant victory after beating Vlasov, but was upset by former world title challenger Igor Mikhalkin 25(11KO)-3 (2) who, with a unanimous decision win, earned a call to test a boxer with aspirations in the division’s top 15.
-Super welterweight Jack Culcay 32(13KO)-4 won his stay-busy bout against Italian Damiano Falcinelli 15(7KO)-2(1) by unanimous decision (79-74, 79-76 and 77-75) and keeps waiting for the end of the stagnation at the top of the division. The undisputed champion is Charlo, who has to face Tszyu, while Murtazaliev and Culcay are number 1 and number 2 in the IBF ranking.
-Two-time Olympian Alberto “Impacto” Melián 10(6KO)-2-1 defeated Carlos “Pitbull” Rodrigues 13(8KO)-1(1)-1 with a sixth-round KO, and he could appear in the WBO featherweight top 15 due to the possession of a minor belt, and Diego Chaves 28(23KO)-9(5)-1 was beat via TKO in the fifth round by super welterweight Jonathan Sánchez 23(11KO)-6( 1)-1.
-Welterweight Josh Wagner 14(7KO)-0 and super middleweight Shakeel Phinn 24(17KO)-3-1 achieved predictable victories against Yaser Yueksel 13(4KO)-6(2)-1, by TKO in the third round and Vladimir Belujsky 12(8KO)-5(1)-1, by unanimous decision (100-90, 99-91 and 98-92)
-Argentinean super welterweight Ismael “El Terrible” Flores 8(6KO)-0-1 dealt the fastest defeat of his career to Fouad El Massoudi 18(2KO)-18(2)-1 with a first round TKO, so he seemed ready for a significant step up in competition. As for Rikar Urrutia 6(0KO)-1, he beat on points Saúl Luna’s substitute, the Mexican José Ángel Rosales 6(3KO)-5(1).
