The very young middleweight Elijah García dealt with a nosebleed and beat Uruguayan puncher Amilcar Vidal by TKO

It was time for the American Elijah Lorenzo García 14(12KO)-0 and the Uruguayan Amilcar Vidal 16(12KO)-1(1) to show what they were made of by fighting in a clash of undefeated in a televised card. Sometimes in these type of fights both boxers deliver a good performance and come out stronger, but this time it was one of those occasions in which only one made a statement, this being García, who won by fourth-round TKO.

Facing a strong boxer with good punch and who is comfortable trading shots, the young southpaw Garcia, who has more technical resources, appeared to be taking a big risk by consistently positioning himself in the middle range from the beginning. Thus, by the second round, the local’s nose was already bleeding profusely due to Vidal’s power shots. However, the motivated García was not going to be intimidated by the blows received. In fact, he was willing to go through the fire to hit his opponent hard.

Thus, García moved forward with determination while Vidal made the mistake of backing up and letting his opponent have space to launch good right uppercut-straight left combinations, take him to the ropes and insist on his work. After a few minutes, although García received some hard uppercuts in the exchanges and on the scorecard of one of the judges Vidal was ahead, the Uruguayan began to look somewhat worn out and, in the fourth round, a right hook to the head hurt him. Then García pinned him on the ropes with hooks upstairs and with right uppercut-straight left combinations brought him to his knees and forced the stoppage.

It goes without saying that García, who is just 19, has a lot to adjust in his boxing, but he is brave, forceful and has a good punch selection, which, still far from the moment when he should reach his peak, suggests a promising future. Especially having shown his virtues pummeling an unbeaten puncher. For this reason, García seems like a boxer who we will see a lot on PBC events in the coming seasons, especially if he evolves in the right way and continues to offer good entertainment.
