El plata olímpico Muslim Gadzhimagomedov ofreció buen boxeo y logró amplísima victoria sobre el invicto Denis Savitsky

La pasada noche el oro mundial amateur, plata olímpico y plata europeo ruso Muslim Gadzhimagomedov 2(1KO)-0 afrontó su segundo combate profesional más de un año después de su debut (en este tiempo ha estado combatiendo en boxeo amateur). En esta ocasión no peleó contra un rival de nivel bajo, sino contra un compatriota invicto, joven y con motivación como Denis Savitsky 7(5KO)-1-1, al que derrotó de forma muy amplia mostrando su excelente destreza.
Savitsky intentó mantener entretenido a su rival con sus uno-dos y su jab para evitar dejarle pensar mucho, pero con su juego de piernas y sus bloqueos el móvil y ágil Gadzhimagomedov eludió muchas manos y creó oportunidades para afilados jabs y cruzados de mano adelantada. Rápidamente el plata olímpico empezó a incrementar su ritmo y a dejar de retroceder, aumento de actividad ante el que Savitsky no se amedrentó, sino que intentó replicar con sus rectos. Sin embargo, la valentía de éste fue aprovechada por Gadzhimagomedov para conectar amenazantes derechas de francotirador, series de directos, ganchos diestros abajo, curvos zurdos arriba, etc.
En los cruces de golpes en el centro del ring y en la distancia media y media-corta Gadzhimagomedov se llevaba sostenidamente la mejor parte gracias a su habilidad y precisión, por lo que parecía que, pese a sus esfuerzos, su fortaleza y su juventud, Savitsky podía terminar dañado. En el comienzo del cuarto round la doctora tuvo que revisarle una inflamación en su ceja izquierda y en ese mismo episodio los largos derechazos del favorito le sacudieron.
De todos modos, Gadzhimagomedov se tomó las cosas con calma y no tomó riesgos mal medidos, reposicionándose, esquivando, jabeando y entrando y saliendo las veces necesarias antes de sacar sus combinaciones de directos o sus golpes de poder aislados. Por ello, no obtuvo el knockout pero sí una amplísima victoria por decisión.
En el caso de Gadzhimagomedov la pregunta no es si tiene potencial para lograr un título mundial en el peso crucero, sino si esta será su meta prioritaria ahora mismo. Es decir, de momento no parece definitivo que vaya a centrarse en el pugilismo rentado, dando la sensación de hecho de que su plan es disputar al menos una gran competición amateur más.

Last night the decorated Russian boxer Muslim Gadzhimagomedov 2(1KO)-0, who has been world amateur gold medalist, Olympic silver medalist and European silver medalist, faced his second professional bout more than a year after his debut (during this period he has been competing in amateur boxing). This time he did not fight a low-level opponent, but an undefeated, young and motivated compatriot like Denis Savitsky 7(5KO)-1-1, whom he defeated widely while showing his excellent skill.
Savitsky tried to avoid letting his opponent think too much throwing frequent one-twos and jabs, but with his footwork and blocks the mobile and agile Gadzhimagomedov eluded many hands and created opportunities for sharp jabs and lead hooks. Soon the Olympic silver medalist began to increase his pace and stopped backing, increase in activity against which Savitsky was not intimidated, but rather tried to reply with his straight hands. However, the underdog’s bravery was exploited by Gadzhimagomedov to land menacing sniper right hands, combinations of straight punches, right hooks down, left hooks up, etc.
In the exchanges in the center of the ring and in the medium and medium-close distance, Gadzhimagomedov consistently had more success thanks to his skill and precision, so it seemed that, despite his efforts, his strength and his youth, Savitsky could end up hurt. At the beginning of the fourth round, the doctor had to check a swelling in his left eyebrow, and in that same round the favorite’s long right hands shook him.
Still, Gadzhimagomedov didn’t rush and didn’t take needless risks, repositioning, dodging, jabbing and moving in and out as many times as necessary before throwing and connecting his combinations of straight shots or his isolated power punches. Therefore, he did not get the knockout but he did score a wide decision victory.
In Gadzhimagomedov’s case, the question is not whether he has the potential to win a world cruiserweight title, but whether that will be his main goal right now. That is to say, at the moment it does not seem definitive that he is going to focus on paid boxing, looking like his plan is to participate at least in one more big amateur competition.
