A la pelea el letón Briedis llegará nueve meses después de su victoria por KOT en el tercer round sobre Artur Mann, mientras que Opetaia lo hará siete meses después de su victoria (también en tres asaltos) contra Daniel Russell.

After the IBF cruiserweight world championship between the monarch Mairis Briedis and the mandatory challenger Jai Opetaia was postponed, there have been nearly two months of uncertainty. But finally the organizers of the event have announced a new date for the clash. This will take place on July 2 at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Broadbeach, Australia.
