La campeona mundial WBA superwélter Hannah Rankin batió por KOT a la mexicana Alejandra Ayala

La británica Hannah Rankin 12(3KO)-5(1) buscó el viernes afianzar su reinado y seguir acumulando tanto experiencia como moral, objetivo que culminó enfrentándose a la voluntariosa mexicana Alejandra Ayala 14(8KO)-6(2), que se esforzó para intentar dar la sorpresa pero que terminó batida por KOT en el décimo round.
Durante la primera mitad Ayala logró alcanzar la distancia corta y trabajar con sus hooks, no renunciando Rankin a la batalla a pesar de que este escenario era en principio el que le resultaba menos favorable. Así, con las pretensiones de victoria de ambas chocando en una guerra de desgaste, las dos se alcanzaron con buenos golpes de poder. Sin embargo, fue una Rankin más rodada y motivada quien terminó saliendo mejor parada de los intercambios, por lo que desde entorno a la mitad empezó a presionar firmemente a una Ayala que iba a menos.
El trabajo ofensivo de Rankin fue cada vez más intenso y superior hasta que en el octavo asalto dañó a Ayala con un gancho zurdo, agravando la situación para la visitante, que perdió las pocas energías que le quedaban y que siguió siendo castigada antes de llegar al decisivo último round. En él Ayala fue situada en las cuerdas, donde fue golpeada por potentes hooks abajo y sacudida por un derechazo, lo que llevó al árbitro, al no ver respuesta, a detener el combate acertadamente.
Habiendo en Reino Unido otra campeona mundial superwélter, la titular WBO Natasha Jonas, se está hablando bastante de que ambas podrían enfrentarse para seguir la tendencia unificadora que está viviendo el boxeo femenino. No obstante, dado que de momento la canadiense Marie Eve Dicaire, monarca IBF superwélter, no tiene rival confirmada, no es descartable que Rankin o Jonas intenten enfrentarse primero a ella para buscar, aunando dos títulos, agrandar su prestigio y su poder en la mesa de negociaciones.

The British Hannah Rankin 12(3KO)-5(1) sought on Friday to consolidate her reign and continue to accumulate both experience and morale, an objective that culminated in her fight against the willful Mexican Alejandra Ayala 14(8KO)-6(2), who made an effort trying to win by upset but ended up beaten by TKO in the tenth round.
During the first half Ayala managed to reach the close distance and work with her hooks, since Rankin accepted the exchanges despite that this scenario was in principle the least favorable for her interests. Thus, with the pretensions of victory of both colliding in a war of attrition, the two hit each other with good power shots. However, it was Rankin who ended up having better results in the exchanges, so from around the mid-point she began to firmly press a tired Ayala.
Rankin’s offensive work was increasingly intense and superior, until in the eighth round she hurt Ayala with a left hook, making worse the situation for the visitor, who lost the little energy she had left and continued to be punished before reaching the decisive last round. In it Ayala was placed on the ropes, where she was hit by powerful hooks down before being rocked by a right hand. Then the referee stopped the match.
Since the United Kingdom has another super welterweight world champion, the WBO titleholder Natasha Jonas, there is some talk about a potential fight between them to continue the trend of unifications in female boxing. However, given that at the moment the Canadian Marie Eve Dicaire, IBF super welterweight champion, has no confirmed rival, it should not be ruled out that Rankin or Jonas could try to face her first to seek, unifying two titles, to enlarge their prestige and their power at the negotiations.
