Ivan Zucco terminó en el segundo asalto con Marko Nikolić en el combate estelar de velada de Matchroom/OPI

Anoche, el invicto italiano Ivan Zucco 16(14KO)-0 resolvió antes del límite un choque por sexta vez consecutiva, llegando en esta ocasión su victoria contra el serbio Marko Nikolić 28(12KO)-2(2) y en el enfrentamiento estelar de una velada de Matchroom Boxing y OPI. Zucco sólo necesitó dos rounds para imponerse, aunque es cierto que también se llevó un buen susto.
Inicialmente, ambos realizaron pruebas ofensivas, si bien fueron las manos del zurdo Zucco en directo de izquierda y gancho diestro las que resultaron más claras. Estos éxitos motivaron al italiano, que terminó encerrando contra las cuerdas a su oponente y sacando una fuerte combinación buscando generar daños críticos, si bien fue Nikolić quien impactó un tremendo uppercut zurdo a la contra que estremeció duramente al favorito local.
Terminado ya el primer round, Zucco no se mostró amedrentado en el segundo asalto, sino que presionó a su rival con peligro con sus rectos hasta que con un directo zurdo acompañado de otro diestro puso en el tapiz a Nikolić. Poco después de la reanudación el visitante recibió dos potentes hooks diestros a la cabeza que le arrojaron al tapiz, terminando entonces el combate.
Sin duda, la puntual dificultad padecida debe ser tomada como una seria advertencia por Zucco, ya que, aunque es verdad que todo boxeador puede verse sorprendido por un golpe certero en un momento u otro, confía tanto en su pegada que muchas veces descuida su defensa mientras ataca. No obstante, nuevamente Zucco puso de manifiesto que tiene precisión, una gran potencia de golpeo y una excelente capacidad de definición, necesitando poco esfuerzo para romper en pedazos un encuentro si su oponente da muestras de debilidad, así que sigue pareciendo el mejor peso supermedio italiano de la actualidad y un serio candidato a, por lo menos, aspirar a coronarse campeón de Europa.

El resto de la cartelera dejó también las previsibles victorias de los boxeadores locales. Aunque ciertamente era un paso adelante, respecto a anteriores duelos, como era de esperar el peso superwélter Mirko Natalizi 12(7KO)-0 no encontró un reto suficientemente exigente ante el alemán Rico Mueller 28(19KO)-5(2)-1, quien aguantó los diez asaltos del enfrentamiento pero que perdió por decisión unánime amplia (99-91 y doble 98-92) ante el manejo de la distancia, la precisión y el timing del invicto local.
En cuanto al peso pluma Francesco Grandelli 16(3KO)-1-2, éste impuso su superioridad técnica ante el británico Kane Baker 17(1KO)-9(3)-1, anotándose una victoria unánime con tarjetas de doble 98-90 y un 96-92. En el comienzo dio la sensación de que podría ser un combate muy emocionante, ya que Grandelli derribó a su oponente en el primer asalto con una derecha contragolpeando un jab y en el segundo round Baker tumbó a su oponente con un cruzado diestro. No obstante, en adelante la destreza de Grandelli marcó la diferencia y le permitió establecer un control táctico que le garantizó el triunfo.
Finalmente, la cartelera principal se inició con el triunfo por decisión unánime (doble 78-73 y un 77-72) del peso superwélter nigeriano Samuel Nmomah 17(5KO)-0 ante el francés Fouad El Massoudi 17(2KO)-18(2)-1. Como siempre, El Massoudi intentó usar su experiencia y su estilo correoso para generar dificultades, pero la solidez y los compactos golpes de poder de un Nmomah más fuerte y determinado le permitieron al invicto ganar la pelea.

Last night, the undefeated Italian Ivan Zucco 16(14KO)-0 won by stoppage for the sixth time in a row, in this occasion against the Serbian Marko Nikolić 28(12KO)-2(2) and in the main duel of a Matchroom Boxing and OPI evening. Zucco only needed two rounds to obtain the triumph, although he also suffered a scare.
Initially, both tested their rival with offensives, but the southpaw Zucco was who connected the best hands with straight lefts and right hooks. These successes motivated the Italian, who ended up putting his opponent against the ropes and throwing a hard combination looking to generate critical damage, although it was Nikolić who landed a tremendous counter left uppercut that hurt the local favorite.
After the first round, Zucco was not intimidated in the second, but rather pressured his rival dangerously with his straight punches until, with a straight left linked with a right hook, he put Nikolić on the mat. Shortly after the restart, the visitor received two powerful right hooks to the head that threw him to the canvas again, thus ending the fight.
Undoubtedly, the occasional difficulty he suffered should be taken as a serious warning by Zucco, since, although it is true that every boxer can be surprised by an accurate shot at one time or another, he trusts so much in his punch that he often neglects his defense while attacking. However, again Zucco showed that he has precision, great power and excellent finishing ability, needing little effort to break a match if his opponent shows any sign of weakness, so he still looks like the current best Italian super middleweight and a serious candidate to, at least, aspire to be crowned European champion.

The rest of the bill also had the predictable victories for the local boxers. Although it was certainly a step forward compared to previous duels, as expected, super welterweight Mirko Natalizi 12(7KO)-0 did not find a sufficiently demanding challenge against the German Rico Mueller 28(19KO)-5(2)-1, who endured the ten rounds but lost by wide unanimous decision (99-91 and double 98-92) due to the control of the distance, the precision and the timing of the undefeated local.
As for the featherweight Francesco Grandelli 16(3KO)-1-2, he imposed his technical superiority against the British Kane Baker 17(1KO)-9(3)-1, obtaining a unanimous victory with double cards of 98- 90 and one 96-92. In the beginning it looked like it could be a very exciting fight, as Grandelli dropped his opponent in the first round with a right hand countering a jab and in the second round Baker dropped his opponent with a right overhand. However, from then on, Grandelli’s skill made the difference and allowed him to establish a tactical control that guaranteed him the victory.
Finally, the main card began with the win by unanimous decision (double 78-73 and a 77-72) of the Nigerian super welterweight Samuel Nmomah 17(5KO)-0 against the Frenchman Fouad El Massoudi 17(2KO)-18(2)-1. As always, El Massoudi tried to use his experience and his tricky style to create difficulties, but the solidity and the compact power shots of a stronger and more determined Nmomah allowed the undefeated to win the fight.
