El evento de Matchroom Boxing de este viernes desde España se ha iniciado ya, terminando la segunda pugna con una incuestionable victoria de la excampeona mundial argentina Jorgelina Guanini 10(1KO)-4-2 sobre la británica, hasta ahora imbatida, Stevi Levy 5(0KO)-1. El triunfo de Guanini fue unánime y con puntuaciones de 80-73, 79-73 y 79-75.
Guanini dejó tocada a su adversaria en el primer round con un duro gancho diestro, llegando posteriormente con nuevos golpes de poder. Levy logró conectar precisos derechazos en el segundo asalto, pero la argentina siguió a la carga, llegando de nuevo con potentes hooks y directos en el tercero. En ciertos instantes la británica realizó eficaces movimientos y llegó con oportunas contras, pero el trabajo más significativo siguió siendo el de su rival, que impactaba duros golpes de poder.
Ante las dificultades, Levy trató de aumentar su dinamismo, pero Guanini continuó presionando y atacando, dañando seriamente a su adversaria en el quinto asalto con un duro hook abajo sucedido por rectos. La invicta logró soportar los apuros, llegar al siguiente episodio e incluso terminar la pugna completa ofreciendo batalla, pero la superioridad de Guanini en líneas generales se mantuvo y su eficaz trabajo ofensivo le valió una merecida victoria.
Batalla de intercambios
El primer combate del evento dejó una victoria unánime del peso semipesado letón Ricards Bolotniks 19(8KO)-6(4)-1 sobre el invicto croata Hrvoje Sep 12(8KO)-1 en una igualada pugna repleta de intercambios. De hecho, en ella habría podido ser perfectamente justificable también el empate o el triunfo del derrotado, si bien dos de los jueces dieron un excesivo doble 78-75 y el restante un más razonable 77-75.
Desde el comienzo Sep trató de acortar la distancia y trabajar con sus curvos, pero inicialmente el letón le contestó con manos contundentes, variadas y muy certeras en gancho zurdo abajo, cruzado diestro arriba, uppercuts de ambas manos, etc. Además, Bolotniks usó buenos bloqueos y por momentos su oponente bajó su guardia absurdamente. De todos modos, Sep continuó avanzando y atacando, así que, cuando Bolotniks padeció una hemorragia nasal y dio signos de cansancio, el croata empezó a superar a su contrincante por cadencia e insistencia.
El combate estaba muy disputado, y ambos pasaban la mayoría del tiempo cruzando golpes con dispar grado de acierto, pero alrededor de la mitad Sep pareció decantar las acciones con su continuidad, resistencia y tesón. Con todo, en muchos momentos se sobreexpuso y Bolotniks, que no dejó de luchar con dureza, encontró un segundo aire para tener buenos momentos en el tramo final y terminar logrando la decisión.

This Friday’s Matchroom Boxing event from Spain has already started, ending the second fight with an unquestionable victory of Argentine former world champion Jorgelina Guanini 10(1KO)-4-2 over the undefeated British Stevi Levy 5( 0KO)-1. Guanini’s victory was unanimous and with scores of 80-73, 79-73 and 79-75.
Guanini staggered her opponent in the first round with a hard right hook, later connecting new clear power shots. Levy managed to land precise right hands in the second round, but the Argentine continued to charge forward, hitting her rival with powerful hooks and straight shots in the third. At certain moments the British made effective movements and landed well timed counters, but the most significant work continued to be that of her rival, who used hard power shots.
Faced with difficulties, Levy tried to increase his dynamism, but Guanini continued to press and attack, seriously hurting her opponent in the fifth round with a hard hook down followed by straight punches. The undefeated endured the trouble, reached the next round and even finished the entire fight, but Guanini’s superiority remained and his effective offensive work earned her a well-deserved victory.
Battle of exchanges
The first bout of the event saw Latvian light heavyweight Ricards Bolotniks 19(8KO)-6(4)-1 win an unanimous decision over undefeated Croatian Hrvoje Sep 12(8KO)-1 in a close matchup replete with exchanges. In fact, it could have been perfectly justifiable a draw or a Sep win, although two of the judges gave an excessive double 78-75 and the other a more reasonable 77-75.
From the beginning, Sep tried to shorten the distance and work with his hooks, but the Latvian answered him with forceful, varied and very accurate hands in left hook down, right hook up, uppercuts with both hands, etc. Also, Bolotniks used good blocks and at times his opponent dropped his guard down absurdly. However, Sep continued to advance and attack, so when Bolotniks suffered from a nosebleed and showed signs of tiredness, the Croatian began to outwork his opponent with punch output and persistence.
The combat was very disputed, and both spent most of the time exchanging blows with disparate degrees of success, but from about half way through, Sep seemed to win rounds with his continuity, resistance and tenacity. However, in many moments he was overexposed and Bolotniks, who did not stop fighting hard, found a second wind to have good moments in the final stretch and end up winning the decision.
