Teniendo por encima en el ranking WBC a Tenshin Nasukawa, Juan Francisco Estrada y Takuma Inoue, el mexicano Alejandro “KOnejo” González 19(11KO)-6(1)-3 tendrá difícil convencer a los aficionados de que pronto debería ser retador del campeón mundial del peso gallo Junto Nakatani. Con todo, González perfectamente podría llegar a acceder a una defensa voluntaria de Nakatani si el promotor del monarca quiere darle una pelea de rodaje en Estados Unidos tras la unificación de éste ante Nishida. Por ello, el mexicano no se puede permitir tropiezos, y el viernes no falló, derrotando en el tercer asalto al excampeón mundial Juan “Churritos” Hernández 38(29KO)-6(5).
Hernández comenzó bien, moviéndose por el ring y lanzando golpes rectos a la vez que hacía fallar a su oponente. Sin embargo, su movilidad y eficacia se mantuvieron por muy poco tiempo, empezando a quedarse más cerca de González y a tener algunos cruces de golpes sin resultados pero peligrosos. Así, en cuanto se redujo el dinamismo del combate, en el tercer round “KOnejo” lanzó un jab abajo seguido de un duro uppercut diestro que estiró en la lona a Hernández.
El combate debió terminar ahí, ya que en una cuenta bien hecha “Churritos” no se habría alzado a tiempo, pero el árbitro falló, alargando la cuenta al pedirle a González que se fuese a la esquina azul, en vez de a la neutral en la que ya estaba el púgil. En cualquier caso, la pelea no se prolongó mucho más: en la reanudación González tiró al tapiz a su rival con un gancho zurdo y, tras esta nueva cuenta, forzó la detención arbitral tras hacer que Hernández tocase el tapiz nuevamente al recibir una mano diestra.

With Tenshin Nasukawa, Juan Francisco Estrada, and Takuma Inoue ahead of him in the WBC ranking, Mexican Alejandro «KOnejo» González 19(11KO)-6(1)-3 will have a tough time convincing fans that he should soon challenge bantamweight world champion Juan Nakatani. However, González could very well access to a voluntary defense against Nakatani if the champion’s promoter is willing to give him a stay busy fight in the United States following the latter’s unification with Nishida. Therefore, the Mexican can’t afford to lose, and on Friday he didn’t let that happen, as he defeated former world champion Juan «Churritos» Hernández 38(29KO)-6(5) in the third round.
Hernández started well, moving around the ring and throwing straight punches while making his opponent miss. However, his mobility and effectiveness were short-lived, as he began to stay closer to González and took part in dangerous exchanges. Thus, as the fight slowed down, in the third round «KOnejo» threw a jab downstairs followed by a hard right uppercut that dropped Hernández to the canvas.
The fight should have ended there, as with a proper count, «Churritos» wouldn’t have gotten up in time. But the referee failed, extending the count by asking González to go to the blue corner instead of the neutral corner where the fighter was already. In any case, the fight didn’t last much longer: after the restart, González knocked his opponent to the mat with a left hook and, after this new count, forced the stoppage making Hernández touch the canvas with a right hand.
