Un prospecto puede mejorar todos los aspectos de su boxeo si se aplica de la manera adecuada, pero difícilmente puede adquirir coraje y determinación si carece de ellos. Precisamente, coraje y determinación es lo que mostró el peso superpluma sueco-filipino Alexander Fredriksson 3(2KO)-0, prospecto con buena base amateur que el viernes se levantó de la lona para lograr un merecido triunfo por decisión unánime ante el veterano filipino Mark John Yap 34(17KO)-20(3). Los jueces dieron un triple 58-54, la misma puntuación de Bastión Boxeo.
El zurdo Fredriksson comenzó fuerte, lanzando golpes de poder en directo zurdo y gancho diestro que llevaron a las cuerdas a Yap. Con todo, el veterano aguantó y contragolpeó con un volado diestro que puso en la lona a Fredriksson. Tras la caída, el invicto se alzó y, lejos de amedrentarse, continuó atacando con firmeza con sus golpes de poder, anotándose round tras round con sus izquierdazos y hooks de mano adelantada. Yap también se mostró valiente y, lejos de lo que hacen otros jornaleros, quiso resistir y conectar manos, plantando cara en algunos intercambios y llegando repetidamente con manos diestras que mostraron que Fredriksson se expone a puños en esta trayectoria.
En cualquier caso, Fredriksson remontó el negativo round inicial y certificó su triunfo con un knockdown algo extraño: Yap recibió una izquierda recta y al intentar contragolpearla perdió el equilibrio y cayó a la lona.

A prospect can improve all aspects of his boxing if he works properly, but he can hardly acquire courage and determination if he lacks them. Precisely, courage and determination is what Swedish-Filipino Alexander Fredriksson 3(2KO)-0 showed, as on Friday this super featherweight prospect with a solid amateur background got off the canvas to achieve a well-deserved unanimous decision victory over Filipino veteran Mark John Yap 34(17KO)-20(3). The three judges scored it 58-54, as Bastion Boxing scored it too.
The southpaw Fredriksson started strong, throwing power punches in straight left hand and a right hook that drove Yap to the ropes. However, the veteran held his own and countered with an overhand right hand that knocked Fredriksson to the canvas. After the knockdown, the undefeated fighter got back on his feet and, far from being intimidated, continued to attack resolutely with his power shots, winning round after round with his left hands and lead hooks. Yap also showed courage and, unlike other journeymen, he was willing to resist and land punches, fighting back in some exchanges and repeatedly landing right hands, which showed the vulnerability of Fredriksson to these shots.
In any case, Fredriksson overcame the initial negative round and sealed his victory with a somewhat strange knockdown: Yap was hit by a straight left hand and, while trying to counter it, lost his balance and fell to the canvas.
