La actividad boxística relevante arrancará en Japón, con el evento emitido por ESPN+ en el que el estadounidense Brian Norman Jr. expondrá su corona mundial WBO del peso wélter ante el local Jin Sasaki. Este duelo entre pegadores perfectamente podría terminar antes del límite, aunque, sea cual sea la vía por la que se zanje, Norman partirá como claro favorito ante un rival con gran desventaja en alcance, que empezó su carrera como peso ligero y que ha mostrado más brechas, especialmente en su choque ante Andy Hiraoka.
En el cartel se producirá otro mundial, en el cual el filipino Cristian Araneta puede ser considerado favorito para capturar el vacante cinturón mundial IBF del peso minimosca ante el tailandés Thanongsak Simsri, boxeador que tiene reciente una muy importante victoria ante el exmonarca Taniguchi pero que en sus combates del máximo nivel le ha costado marcar la diferencia de forma clara.
En el respaldo, otro insigne prospecto japonés más, el peso wélter Sora Tanaka, disputará su primer combate a doce asaltos ante Takeru Kobata y Yuya Oku y Reiya Abe pelearán por el vacante cinturón de Japón del peso pluma.
Viernes 20 de junio
En Estados Unidos, emitido por DAZN, se producirá el combate más relevante del viernes, ya que el olímpico ruso Petr Khamukov afrontará su primer combate de cierto relieve midiéndose al estadounidense David Stevens, que llega de perder por decisión dividida ante Bektemir Melikuziev.
El viernes también destacan las eliminatorias de octavos de final del Grand Prix de Boxeo WBC para las categorías del peso medio y del peso superligero, los cuales serán emitidos por YouTube y DAZN desde Arabia Saudí. Como en total son 16 combates y habrán otras 16 peleas de este torneo el sábado, por motivos de espacio y para no cambiar la esencia resumida de los mejores combates, no se hará mención de cada uno de los duelos del torneo en este artículo, sino en uno separado.
Por otro lado, el viernes también se puede hacer mención del choque del peso pluma, emitido por ESPN Knockout desde México, en el que se enfrentarán los locales Jonathan “El Tachi” Rojas y José Ángel García.
Sábado 21 de junio
Las únicas grandes promotoras que organizarán eventos en este día serán Matchroom y Top Rank. Empezando por la velada de la primera compañía, emitida por DAZN desde Reino Unido, el oro olímpico Galal Yafai buscará seguir preparándose y mantenerse listo para el campeonato mundial ante el campeón unificado del peso mosca Kenshiro Teraji enfrentándose, con el título WBC interino en juego, al muy experimentado excampeón mundial mexicano Francisco “Chihuas” Rodríguez, que en los últimos nueve años y medio sólo ha perdido contra Nakatani e Ioka.
En el respaldo, Conah Walker y Liam Taylor se enfrentarán en un campeonato británico del peso wélter y el olímpico británico Peter McGrail continuará recuperándose de su derrota ante O’Quinn midiéndose al correoso Ionut Baluta.
Respecto al evento de Top Rank, que se producirá en Estados Unidos emitido por ESPN+, tendrá combates bastante desparejados. En el duelo estelar, el joven estadounidense Vito Mielnicki Jr. peleará dentro del peso medio contra el polaco Kamil Gardzielik, que carece de pegada y que ha tenido dificultades ante algunos jornaleros, mientras que el peso pesado polaco Damian Knyba se medirá a su invicto compatriota Marcin Siwy, que no combate desde hace casi tres años, cuando empató contra Kamil Sokolowski. Quizás el choque del peso medio entre los estadounidenses Jahi Tucker y Lorenzo Simpson pueda parece algo menos desparejado, pero el primero parece que debe ser visto como claro favorito.
El sábado se producirán las eliminatorias de octavos de final del Grand Prix WBC en las categorías del peso pluma y del peso pesado, igualmente desde Arabia Saudí y emitidas por YouTube y DAZN.
También se pueden mencionar estos otros combates:
-En Estados Unidos, emitido por UFC Fight Pass, el prospecto irlandés del peso superwélter Callum Walsh, top 10 en dos organismos, seguirá preparándose para un importante combate midiéndose al mexicano Elías Espadas, que viene de sacar un empate ante el invicto, con buena carrera amateur, Sadriddin Akhmedov. También, el imbatido ruso Umar Dzambekov peleará en el peso semipesado contra el veterano colombiano Roamer Angulo.
-En Reino Unido, el campeón de Inglaterra del peso ligero Youssef Khoumari afrontará su primera defensa ante el invicto Louie O’Doherty.
-En Estados Unidos, el peso wélter Tre’Sean Wiggins, que ha tenido varias muy meritorias actuaciones en su carrera, pondrá fin a un año y medio de inactividad ante Dakota Linger, que el año pasado logró una buena victoria contra pronóstico ante el invicto Kurt Scoby.
-En China, el peso supermosca Jiangtao Cao afrontará un serio paso adelante en aumento de dificultad ante un boxeador muy capaz, experimentado y difícil como el filipino Jesse Espinas.

The relevant boxing activity of the week will kick off in Japan with an event broadcast on ESPN+ in which American Brian Norman Jr. will defend his WBO welterweight world title against local fighter Jin Sasaki. This duel of punchers could easily end before the final bell, although, regardless of the way it finishes, Norman will be the clear favorite against an opponent with a significant disadvantage in reach, who began his career as a lightweight and has shown more flaws, especially in his bout against Andy Hiraoka.
The co-featured bout will be another title fight. In it, Filipino Cristian Araneta could be considered the favorite to capture the vacant IBF light flyweight world belt against Thai Thanongsak Simsri, a boxer who six months ago scored a very important victory against former champion Taniguchi but who has struggled to obtain clear wins in his top-level bouts.
On the undercard, another standout Japanese prospect, welterweight Sora Tanaka, will face his first twelve-rounder against Takeru Kobata, while Yuya Oku and Reiya Abe will battle for the vacant Japanese featherweight belt.
Friday, June 20
Friday’s most important bout will take place in the United States, broadcast on YouTube and DAZN, as Russian Olympian Petr Khamukov will have his first important bout against American David Stevens, who is coming off a split decision loss to Bektemir Melikuziev.
Also on Friday, the WBC Grand Prix will have its round of 16 eliminators for the middleweight and super lightweight divisions, which will be broadcast on YouTube and DAZN from Saudi Arabia. As these 16 fights will be added to another 16 bouts on Saturday, to maintain the summary format of the best fights articles, each of the tournament’s bouts will not be mentioned in this article, but rather in a separate one.
On Friday, it can also be mentioned the featherweight matchup, broadcast on ESPN Knockout from Mexico, between local fighters Jonathan «El Tachi» Rojas and José Ángel García.
Saturday, June 21
The only big promotional companies organizing events on this day will be Matchroom and Top Rank. Starting with the former, broadcast on DAZN from the United Kingdom, Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai will look to continue his preparation for the world championship against unified flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji facing off the highly experienced former world champion Francisco «Chihuas» Rodríguez, who has only lost to Nakatani and Ioka in the last nine and a half years.
On the undercard, Conah Walker and Liam Taylor will face off in a British welterweight championship, and British Olympian Peter McGrail will continue to recover from his loss to O’Quinn battling the tricky Ionut Baluta.
Regarding the Top Rank event, which will take place in the United States and broadcast on ESPN+, the bouts are not well matched. In the main event, young American Vito Mielnicki Jr. will clash in the middleweight division against Polish Kamil Gardzielik, who lacks punching power and has struggled against some journeymen. While Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba will face his undefeated compatriot Marcin Siwy, who hasn’t stepped into a ring in almost three years and who fought to a draw against Kamil Sokolowski. The middleweight clash between Americans Jahi Tucker and Lorenzo Simpson seems better matched, but the former is a solid favorite.
The WBC Grand Prix will have its round of 16 eliminators in the featherweight and heavyweight divisions on Saturday, also from Saudi Arabia and broadcast on YouTube and DAZN.
These other fights are also worth mentioning:
-In the United States, broadcast on UFC Fight Pass, Irish super welterweight prospect Callum Walsh, ranked top 10 by two organizations, will continue preparing for an important fight squaring off against Mexican Elías Espadas, who is coming off a draw against the undefeated, with good amateur career, Sadriddin Akhmedov. Also, undefeated Russian Umar Dzambekov will fight at light heavyweight against Colombian veteran Roamer Angulo.
-In the United Kingdom, English lightweight champion Youssef Khoumari will face his first defense against undefeated Louie O’Doherty.
-In the United States, welterweight Tre’Sean Wiggins, who has had several very commendable performances in his career, will end a year and a half of inactivity against Dakota Linger, who last year achieved a good upset victory against undefeated Kurt Scoby.
-In China, super flyweight Jiangtao Cao will face a serious step up in competition against a very capable, experienced, and difficult boxer like Filipino Jesse Espinas.
