Josh Kelly no se tuvo ni que esforzar para derrotar a Biea

Hasta cierto punto, puede resultar normal que una promotora no quiera correr riesgos cuando un boxeador está cerca de disputar el mayor combate de su carrera. Más aún cuando éste es un olímpico británico que ha tardado ocho años en situarse en la cima de los rankings. Sin embargo, Wasserman fue demasiado lejos con el combate de anoche para el peso superwélter Josh Kelly 17(9KO)-1(1)-1, que necesitó menos de dos minutos para terminar con el rumano Flavius Biea 24(12KO)-2(2).
La disparidad de nivel entre ambos se hizo evidente tanto por las diferencias físicas como estilísticas, ya que el rígido, lento y previsible Biea fue blanco fácil para los centelleantes y variados golpes de poder curvos del hábil Kelly, que llegó también con su jab veloz antes de asestar un gancho de izquierda arriba que derribó al rumano. Biea se levantó inestable y en el diez de la cuenta del árbitro, por lo que ahí terminó la pelea.
En la última actualización del ranking WBO, Kelly aparece como 4º, estando el título mundial vacante y siendo los coaspirantes el número 1 Xander Zayas y el número 2 “Chino” Pérez, estando estos seguidos por el número 3 Tim Tszyu, que peleará por el cinto WBC ante Sebastian Fundora. Por otro lado, Kelly es 4º IBF, por detrás de Erickson Lubin y del propio Zayas, estando el 2º puesto vacante. Dicho de otro modo, una vez que se produzcan los mundiales Zayas-Pérez y Fundora-Tszyu, a los que se debería sumar el Murtazaliev-Lubin, Kelly quedará en posición de alcanzar la posición de aspirante obligatorio o, como mínimo, una eliminatoria final, por lo que no tardará en disputar un combate que marcará definitivamente qué grado de éxito puede lograr en su carrera.

Even more so when this fighter is a British Olympian who has taken eight years to reach the top of the rankings. However, Wasserman went too far with last night’s bout for super welterweight Josh Kelly 17(9KO)-1(1)-1, who needed less than two minutes to get rid of Romanian Flavius Biea 24 (12KO)-2(2).
The disparity in level between the two was evident in both the physical and stylistic aspects, as the stiff, slow, and predictable Biea was an easy target for the flashy and varied power shots of the skillful Kelly, who also landed swift jabs before connecting a left hook to the head that dropped the Romanian. Biea got up unsteadily and when the referee’s count reached ten, so the fight was stopped.
In the latest update of the WBO ranking, Kelly is No. 4, with the world title vacant. The co-challengers are No. 1 Xander Zayas and No. 2 «Chino» Perez, followed by No. 3 Tim Tszyu, who will fight for the WBC belt against Sebastian Fundora. On the other hand, Kelly is No. 4 in the IBF, behind Erickson Lubin and Zayas himself, with the No. 2 spot vacant. In other words, once the Zayas-Perez and Fundora-Tszyu world championships take place, along with Murtazaliev-Lubin, Kelly will be in position to reach mandatory contender status or, at the very least, a final eliminator. Therefore, it won’t be long before he competes in a fight that will definitively determine the degree of success he can achieve in his career.
