Esta muy intensa semana de boxeo arrancó con una velada de RCC Boxing en la que el peso ligero ruso Zaur Abdullaev siguió extendiendo su racha de victorias derrotando por decisión unánime al panameño Ricardo Núñez. En el semifondo Arslan Yallyev venció por KO un duelo de invictos ante Georgy Yunovidov y se proclamó campeón de Rusia del peso pesado. Crónica de los combates siguiendo el link.
Esta macrovelada contó con un largo e interesante respaldo. En él Mark Urvanov fue superior a Ruslan Kamilov, el bronce olímpico Gleb Bakshi dominó una pugna ante Alfonso Blanco y Vasily Voytsekhovsky tuvo que trabajar duro para vencer de forma dividida a Dilmurod Satybaldiev. Antes de estos combates, tres invictos sumaron triunfos. El peso pesado Evgeny Romanov derrotó por decisión unánime a Chris Thompson, el peso supermedio Pavel Silyagin noqueó en el cuarto round a Leonard Carrillo y el peso superligero Khariton Agrba, batió por knockout en el sexto asalto a Prince Dlomo. El miércoles se desarrolló otra velada de ProBox TV en la que el peso ligero Luis “Koreano” Torres tuvo rounds útiles ante un Misael “Pichón” Cabrera que, pese a su derrota final por decisión, ofreció decidida resistencia. Crónica y vídeo del evento siguiendo el link.

Viernes 10 de marzo
Pasando a la cartelera argentina de O.R. Promotions, la peso minimosca Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez volvió a conquistar los cinturones mundiales que perdió polémicamente ante Yokasta Valle. Con todo, lo logró con una cuestionable victoria por decisión unánime ante Tania “La Chula” Enríquez. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Respecto al respaldo principal, todos los combates terminaron antes del límite, emplazando a sus ganadores a pasos adelante: el peso superpluma Carlos Alanis 11(3KO)-0 cumplió su objetivo de mantenerse en el ranking WBO batiendo por KOT en el tercer round a Kevin Acevedo 23(6KO)-6(3)-3; el peso pluma Alberto Melián 11(7KO)-2-1 también se posicionó en las listas mundiales batiendo por KOT en el noveno asalto a Johan Segura 11(8KO)-1(1); el peso mosca Tobías Reyes 11(10KO)-0 defendió su cetro de Sudamérica con un KOT en el cuarto round ante Gilbert González 18(13KO)-4(3)-1, que sufrió con esta la derrota más rápida de su carrera; y el peso wélter Fabián Maidana 20(15KO)-2 por segunda vez consecutiva logró un triunfo por KO en el tercer round, siendo esta vez su víctima Edwin Bennett 15(7KO)-4(1).
Aunque el evento de Let’s GO Management padeció problemas técnicos, el cinturón de campeón de Inglaterra del peso gallo vacante al fin encontró un nuevo dueño, siendo este Jordan Purkiss, que venció por decisión unánime a un voluntarioso Ramez Mahmood. Crónica y vídeo del evento siguiendo el link.
En esta misma cartelera, se produjo uno de los más entretenidos choques de la semana, puesto que Jack Martin y Shaquille Day ofrecieron un campeonato Southern Area del peso superwélter lleno de intercambios y de momentos de emoción. Pasando al cartel de Thompson Boxing, en su combate estelar se produjo un resultado contra pronóstico, puesto que el enrachado peso wélter local Louie López fue derribado y vencido por decisión unánime a manos del visitante mexicano Ángel Beltrán Villa. Crónica y vídeo del evento siguiendo el link.
También fue emitida por YouTube una velada de People’s Fighters desde Dubái en la que participaron cuatro prospectos cubanos. Dos de ellos fueron los jovencísimos Jesús Gamboa y Jadier Herrera, quienes lograron triunfos respectivamente sobre los filipinos Adam Diu Abdulhamid y Harmonito Dela Torre. En cuanto al peso ligero tailandés Phumiritdet Chonlathondamrongkun, este se topó inicialmente con un buen boxeo por parte del filipino Jules Victoriano, pero a base de garra y pegada terminó anotándose un KOT en el octavo round. Crónica y enlace al vídeo del evento siguiendo el link.
El evento de Black Country Boxing Promotions vio a Ricky Summers 19(6KO)-3-1 coronarse por primera vez en su carrera campeón inglés del peso semipesado, lo que logró con una victoria unánime (98-93, 97-93, 96-94) sobre Joel McIntyre 20(5KO)-6(2). Sin duda, Summers es un boxeador competente y resistente que podría ofrecer una exigente pelea a casi cualquier peso semipesado de su país, pero es inevitable dudar sobre si, en un nuevo asalto al cetro británico, tendrá los recursos suficientes para esta vez evitar la derrota.
En el mismo evento, la racha de la campeona de Europa del peso wélter Kirstie Bavington 7(2KO)-3-2 fue cortada por la exretadora mundial canadiense Kandi Wyatt 11(3KO)-4(2) con una decisión dividida (96-93, 92-98, 92-98) que le podría dar un buen posicionamiento en el ranking WBA, mientras que la exmonarca superwélter Hannah Rankin 13(3KO)-6(1) regresó a la senda del triunfo con una victoria a los puntos (100-90) sobre Logan Holler 9(3KO)-3-1.
Estos otros resultados también se produjeron el viernes:
-El prospecto del peso pluma Nathaniel Collins 12(6KO)-0 se proclamó campeón británico y de la Commonwealth derrotando por KOT en el séptimo asalto al competente James Beech Jr. 15(2KO)-4(2), o sea un round antes de lo que lo logró el prometedor Dennis McCann, por lo que hizo toda una declaración de intenciones.
-El peso superligero estadounidense Julian Rodríguez 22(15KO)-1(1) puso fin a su inactividad de cerca de dos años derrotando por decisión unánime (80-72, 78-74, 78-74) a Kashon Hutchinson 10(2KO)-5, dando así un primer paso para recuperarse de su única derrota.
Sábado 11 de marzo
El invicto peso superwélter australiano Tim Tszyu ofreció una muy buena actuación contra el excampeón mundial estadounidense Tony Harrison, ante el cual mostró gran astucia y precisión antes de batirlo en el noveno round. En el duelo coestelar del evento, el olímpico australiano Paulo Aokuso evidenció su destreza técnica, pero perdió el tiempo con gestos fanfarrones y dejó que Yunieski González llegase a la última campana. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
El respaldo del Tszyu-Harrison también contó con una victoria del prospecto del peso supergallo Sam Goodman sobre el excampeón mundial TJ Doheny y con un buen triunfo del peso supermedio Rohan Murdock sobre Issac Hardman. Crónica de los combates siguiendo el link.

Pasando a la velada francesa, el retorno del oro olímpico Tony Yoka se tradujo en otro varapalo más para su carrera, puesto que el veterano exretador mundial, con rendimiento renacido, Carlos Takam le derrotó de forma clarísima a pesar de las ajustadas puntuaciones oficiales. La cartelera principal de este evento también contó con un duelo del peso medio en el que Macaulay McGowan fue superior a Farrhad Saad pero los jueces dieron un empate, y con una amplísima victoria de la oro olímpica Lauren Price sobre Naomi Mannes. Crónica de los combates siguiendo el link.
Por último en cuanto a los eventos destacados, la velada de Matchroom Boxing dejó, salvo una fortuita excepción, previsibles victorias de los favoritos: el peso supermedio Diego Pacheco 18(15KO)-0 batió por KOT en el cuarto round a Jack Cullen 21(9KO)-4(4)-1; la peso ligero Rhiannon Dixon 8(1KO)-0 se proclamó campeona de la Commonwealth con un KOT en el sexto round sobre Vicky Wilkinson 5(0KO)-1(1)-1; el peso pesado Johnny Fisher 8(7KO)-0 acabó en cuatro asaltos con Alfonso Damiani 6(2KO)-3(2); y el peso supergallo Peter McGrail 7(5KO)-0 ganó todos los asaltos ante Nicolás Botelli 14(8KO)-8(4). La excepción fue el exclasificado del peso superligero Robbie Davies Jr. 23(15KO)-4(2), que tuvo la mala fortuna de romperse el tobillo (requerirá cirujía) ante Darragh Foley 22(10KO)-4-1, quien se hizo así con un deslucidísimo KOT en el tercer round.

-En el combate entre los invictos peso semipesado Malik Zinad 21(16KO)-0 y Mickael Diallo 20(17KO)-1-2 fue el primero quien dio otro paso adelante más en su carrera con una decisión unánime (97-93, 97-93, 96-94), mientras que el peso wélter Anas Messaoudi 15(9KO)-0 fue derribado y a duras penas logró una victoria por decisión mayoritaria (94-94, 95-93, 96-92) ante el visitante mexicano Miguel Parra 21(14KO)-4(2)-1.
-La arriesgada defensa del titular de la Unión Europea del peso wélter Mohammed Kani 21(1KO)-4(1) terminó en un duro revés a sus aspiraciones, ya que fue noqueado en el segundo round por el italiano Pietro Rosseti 17(8KO)-1, nuevo campeón UE.
-El prospecto español Cristóbal Lorente 16(8KO)-0 logró su primer título de ámbito continental coronándose titular de la Unión Europea del peso superpluma con un KOT en el tercer round ante el veterano Andoni Gago 26(7KO)-6(3)-4.
-El campeonato de Argentina y de Sudamérica del peso crucero concluyó con el olímpico Yamil Peralta 15(8KO)-1 anotándose un KOT en el séptimo round sobre Federico Grandone 7(3KO)-1(1)-2, por lo que sumó su segunda victoria desde su única y controvertida derrota como visitante ante Ryan Rozicki.

This very intense week of boxing kicked off with a big event organized by RCC Boxing in which Russian lightweight Zaur Abdullaev continued to extend his winning streak by defeating Panamanian Ricardo Núñez by unanimous decision. In the co-feature bout, Arslan Yallyev prevailed in a clash of undefeated with a KO over Georgy Yunovidov and became Russian heavyweight champion. Read more following the link.
The evening had a long and interesting support. In it Mark Urvanov was superior to Ruslan Kamilov, Olympic bronze medalist Gleb Bakshi dominated Alfonso Blanco and Vasily Voytsekhovsky had to work hard to beat Dilmurod Satybaldiev by split decision. Read more following the link.
Before these fights, three unbeaten boxers scored wins. On Wednesday ProBox TV broadcast an evening in which lightweight Luis «Koreano Torres had useful rounds against Misael «Pichón» Cabrera, who, despite his loss, offered determined resistance. Article and event video following the link.

Moving on to the O.R. Promotions bill, light flyweight Evelin «La Princesita» Bermúdez regained the world belts that she controversially lost to Yokasta Valle. However, she did it with a questionable unanimous decision win over Tania “La Chula” Enríquez. Read more following the link.
Regarding the main undercard, all the bouts ended by stoppage: super featherweight Carlos Alanis 11(3KO)-0 fulfilled his goal of maintaining his position in the WBO ranking by beating Kevin Acevedo 23(6KO)-6(3)-3 by third-round TKO; featherweight Alberto Melián 11(7KO)-2-1 obtained a spot on the world lists beating Johan Segura 11(8KO)-1(1) by third-round TKO; flyweight Tobías Reyes 11(10KO)-0 defended his South American title with a fourth-round TKO over Gilbert González 18 (13KO)-4(3)-1, who suffered with this the quickest loss of his career; and welterweight Fabián Maidana 20(15KO)-2 for the second time in a row achieved a victory by third-round KO, this time against Edwin Bennett 15(7KO)-4(1).
Although the Let’s GO Management event suffered technical problems, the vacant English bantamweight belt finally found a new owner, as Jordan Purkiss defeated tenacious Ramez Mahmood by unanimous decision. Article and event video following the link.
On this same card, one of the most entertaining clashes of the week took place, since Jack Martin and Shaquille Day offered a Southern Area super welterweight championship full of exchanges and moments of emotion. People’s Fighters also broadcast on YouTube a show in which four Cuban prospects participated. Two of them were the very young Jesús Gamboa and Jadier Herrera, who won respectively over the Filipinos Adam Diu Abdulhamid and Harmonito Dela Torre. Article and event video following the link.
As for the Thai lightweight Phumiritdet Chonlathondamrongkun, he initially had problems dealing with the good boxing from Filipino Jules Victoriano, but relayed on his grit and punch and ended up scoring a TKO in the eighth round. Article and video of the event following the link.
In Black Country Boxing Promotions’ event, Ricky Summers 19(6KO)-3-1 became English light heavyweight champion for the first time in his career with a unanimous decision victory (98-93, 97-93, 96-94 ) over Joel McIntyre 20(5KO)-6(2). Without a doubt, Summers is a competent and resistant boxer who could be competitive against almost any light heavyweight from his country, but it is inevitable to wonder if, in a new fight for the British title, he will have enough technical resources to avoid defeat.
At the same event, European welterweight champion Kirstie Bavington’s 7(2KO)-3-2 winning streak was finished by Canadian former world title challenger Kandi Wyatt 11(3KO)-4(2) with a split decision (96- 93, 92-98, 92-98) that could give her a good position in the WBA ranking, while former super welterweight champion Hannah Rankin 13(3KO)-6(1) returned to winning ways with a points win (100-90) over Logan Holler 9(3KO)-3-1.

Undefeated Australian Tim Tszyu put in a very strong performance battling former world champion Tony Harrison, against whom he displayed great cunning and precision before scoring a ninth-round TKO. Now Tszyu awaits a date to face undisputed champion Jermell Charlo. Read more following the link.

Finally regarding the big events of the day, Matchroom Boxing evening was, with one fortuitous exception, full of predictable wins: super middleweight Diego Pacheco 18(15KO)-0 defeated Jack Cullen 21(9KO)-4(4)-1 by fourth-round TKO; lightweight Rhiannon Dixon 8(1KO)-0 became Commonwealth champion with a sixth-round TKO over Vicky Wilkinson 5(0KO)-1(1)-1; heavyweight Johnny Fisher 8(7KO)-0 stopped Alfonso Damiani 6(2KO)-3(2) in four rounds; and super bantamweight Peter McGrail 7(5KO)-0 won all rounds against Nicolás Botelli 14(8KO)-8(4). The exception was former super lightweight ranked boxer Robbie Davies Jr. 23(15KO)-4(2), who had the misfortune to break his ankle (will require surgery) against Darragh Foley 22(10KO)-4-1, who thus obtained a third-round TKO.

-The championship for the Argentine and South American belts concluded with Olympian Yamil Peralta 15(8KO)-1 scoring a seventh-round knockout over Federico Grandone 7(3KO)-1(1)-2, so he added his second win since his lone and controversial loss to Ryan Rozicki.
