Heavyweight David Adeleye knocked down and defeated crude Dmytro Bezus

York Hall, London, United Kingdom. Heavyweight.

The problems that British heavyweight David Adeleye 11(10KO)-0 suffered against Kamil Sokolowski convinced Frank Warren that his fighter needed to slow down his advance and boost his morale and his record with a bunch of easy wins before taking him to steps up. For this reason, after scoring four stoppage victories in a row against tailor-made opponents, Adeleye added to his record another knockout on Friday against a low-level fighter like the Ukrainian Dmytro «Bison» Bezus 10(5KO)-1(1), who succumbed in the second round after showing his serious technical flaws.

Bezus was visibly bigger, but he was also slower and cruder. Thus, after some testing by both, a hard jab from Adeleye surprised his opponent bad positioned and dropped him with just over a minute elapsed. The Ukrainian was not hurt by the knockdown, but from then on his attempted pressure was contested by clean uppercuts, blows he maybe took a little better due to an illegally long beard (the commissions are lax on the rules in this regard).

In any case, Bezus’s lack of technique could not be compensated for by any beard, so in the second round, for the umpteenth time in the fight, he was completely rigid, frontal, without guard and very close to his opponent, so Adeleye landed a right hook down-left hook up combination that spectacularly knocked the visitor down. Bezus got up and could have continued until being dropped again, but the referee knew that the goal of this fight was for Adeleye to achieve a quick victory and preferred to carry out his part of the plan by stopping the duel immediately.

The idea now will surely be for Adeleye to have frequent fights and continue to obtain victories without too much effort before taking him to his first title fight. In this sense, although the capture of a minor WBO belt will take him to the heavyweight top 15, it is evident that Adeleye is not ready for such challenges. In fact, it is even doubtful that they will chase British champion Fabio Wardley, who was alluded in the post-fight interview. With Solomon Dacres and Robert Ismay set to fight for the vacant English belt, Adeleye, who only has 11 fights, could find in that direction a much more easy path.

Chamberlain and Turner won by stoppage
In the undercard of the event, both lightweight prospect Mark Chamberlain 12(8KO)-0 and super lightweight prospect Henry Turner 10(3KO)-0 scored stoppage victories. Chamberlain defeated Italian champion Vairo Lenti 10(1KO)-5(1)-1 by fifth-round KO, while Turner beat Spaniard Zeus de Armas 15(4KO)-3(3)-1 by seventh-round TKO, so both will face steps forward on the British circuit throughout this season.
