La actividad boxística sigue aumentando poco a poco, si bien todavía la calidad media de los eventos no tendrá ni mucho menos un nivel tan alto como el que alcanzará en los próximos meses.
Viernes 10 de febrero
El mayor combate titular del viernes será un campeonato por los vacantes cinturones británico y de la Commonwealth del peso gallo entre Sean McGoldrick 12(3KO)-1 y Scott Allan 11(1KO)-6(2)-1. Este duelo será el estelar de un evento de Lets Go Management desde el Vale Sports Arena de Cardiff, Reino Unido, que está programado para ser emitido por el canal de YouTube de Boxing Social.
McGoldrick era considerado un prometedor prospecto debido a una buena carrera amateur con extensa experiencia internacional, pero una inesperada derrota en 2019 en un paso adelante ante Thomas Essomba frenó su avance. Aun así, y aunque podría tener una dura pelea, será favorito para vencer a un Allan que es competente y voluntarioso, que ha poseído títulos británicos de Area, que se ha medido a rivales como Ukashir Farooq, Lee McGregor o Marc Leach pero que siempre se ha quedado corto peleando al nivel alto nacional.
Por otro lado, el viernes Thompson Boxing también organizará una velada emitida por YouTube desde el DoubleTree Hotel de Ontario, Estados Unidos. En el choque estelar el enrachado peso superpluma estadounidense George “El Yuyu” Acosta 13(1KO)-1 afrontará su primer combate del año cuatro meses después de que su duelo ante José Angulo fuese cancelado a última hora. En este choque se medirá a su compatriota Marlin “So Icey” Sims 8(4KO)-1 que, aunque no pelea desde hace dos años, sufrió su única derrota por decisión ante el prospecto invicto Dominique Crowder y podría ofrecer rounds de trabajo.
Regresando a Reino Unido, en concreto al Magna Centre de Rotherham, en este recinto se producirá un interesante campeonato de Inglaterra por el vacante cinturón del peso ligero. En el duelo los coaspirantes serán el invicto Hamed Ghaz 18(4KO)-0, que afrontará su mayor reto hasta la fecha, y el excampeón inglés del peso pluma Reece Mould 16(6KO)-1(1), que disputará su combate de más calibre desde su derrota por KOT ante Leigh Wood en febrero de 2021.
El viernes también tendrán lugar estos otros combates:
-En la Salle Vallier de Marsella, Francia, el campeón francés del peso superwélter Mathis Lourenco 10(5KO)-4(1)-3 realizará la segunda defensa de su cinturón en una revancha ante Mahmoud Taha 10(4KO)-9(6)-3, al que derrotó por KOT en 2018.
-En el Coco Loco Sports Bar de Sosúa, República Dominicana, el olímpico Euri Cedeño 3(3KO)-0 será abrumador favorito para lograr su cuarto triunfo profesional ante el venezolano Adrián Pérez 16(14KO)-11(7)-1, que viene en una mala racha pero que en su mejor día logró un empate en Rusia contra Edgar Ghukasyan.
-En el Palladium de Worcester, Estados Unidos, el peso semipesado Richard Rivera 22(17KO)-1 seguirá distanciándose de su controvertida derrota ante Badou Jack peleando contra el brasileño Isaac Rodrigues 28(22KO)-3(3).
Sábado 11 de febrero
La mayor cartelera de la semana será la organizada por PBC y televisada por Showtime. En ella, Rey Vargas y O’Shaquie Foster combatirán por el vacante cinturón mundial WBC del peso superpluma, mientras que en el respaldo se producirán los combates Mario Barrios vs. Jovanie Santiago y Lenier Pero vs. Viktor Faust. El sábado también sobresale una velada de Boxxer y Sky en la que se subirán al ring los prospectos Adam Azim y Caroline Dubois y en la que se desarrollarán el campeonato inglés Tyler Denny vs. Brad Pauls y el combate del peso supermedio Zak Chelli vs. Anthony Sims Jr. Previa del evento siguiendo el link.
Pasando a Filipinas, a la ciudad de General Santos, allí se producirá un combate decisivo para acceder a una eliminatoria final en la categoría del peso supermosca, ya que el 6º WBO KJ Cataraja 15(13KO)-0 y el exretador mundial del peso minimosca Edward “El Heneral” Heno 15(5KO)-1-6 se enfrentarán en un campeonato continental (OPBF). Aunque Heno padeció una controvertida derrota como visitante ante Elwin Soto y tiene superior experiencia de calidad, ha desarrollado la mayor parte de su carrera en el peso minimosca y se enfrenta a un Cataraja con mucha mayor pegada y que es considerado una promesa. Por ello, aunque no se puede dar nada por sentado respecto a los prospectos que afrontan su primera prueba de fuego, sobre el papel Cataraja parece tener las armas y la motivación para lograr el triunfo.
En la jornada tendrán lugar estos otros combates:
-En el Palais des Sports de Agde, Francia, Florian Montels 24(5KO)-2-2 intentará capturar el vacante cinturón de la Unión Europea del peso supergallo ante un boxeador difícil y de récord engañoso como el belga-armenio Geram Eloyan 8(7KO)-4.
-En el Showboat Hotel de Atlantic City, Estados Unidos, el peso gallo puertorriqueño Emmanuel “Salserito” Rodríguez 12(7KO)-0 afrontará un buen test ante el estadounidense Sharone Carter 13(3KO)-5(1), que ha padecido sus únicas derrotas recientes ante Rau’shee Warren y Jonas Sultan.
-En el Hala Widowisko-Sportowa de Stężyca, Polonia, PolSat Sport emitirá un evento en el que se producirá un campeonato de Polonia por el vacante cinturón del peso pesado entre Kacper Meyna 9(5KO)-1 y Jakub Sosinski 8(3KO)-1-1.
-En el Hamilton Convention Centre de Hamilton, Canadá, el peso crucero Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki 16(15KO)-1 disputará un combate de preparación, antes de un reto más exigente, enfrentándose al letón Arturs Gorlovs 10(8KO)-2-1.
-En el Gimnasio Emporio Barceló de Alcorcón, España, el invicto peso ligero Antonio Collado 8(1KO)-0 disputará su mayor combate hasta la fecha peleando contra Ricardo Fernández 12(0KO)-7, que viene de anotarse una victoria en Francia.
-En el Club Union Carmena de Carmen de Areco, Argentina, TyC Sports emitirá un campeonato de Sudamérica del peso superpluma entre el titular Walter Matías “El Distinto” Leiva 10(1KO)-3-1 y el retador Lucas Matias Montesino 9(7KO)-4(1)-1.

Boxing activity continues to increase little by little, although the average quality of the events will still not be as high as it will be in the coming months.
Friday, February 10
Friday’s biggest title bout will be a championship for the vacant British and Commonwealth bantamweight belts between Sean McGoldrick 12(3KO)-1 and Scott Allan 11(1KO)-6(2)-1. This fight will be the main event of a Lets Go Management event from the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff, United Kingdom, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Boxing Social’s YouTube channel.
McGoldrick was considered a promising prospect due to a good amateur career with extensive international experience, but an upset loss in 2019 in a step-up against Thomas Essomba halted his advance. Even so, and although he could have a tough fight, he will be the favorite to beat Allan, who is competent, who has held British Area titles, who has faced boxers such as Ukashir Farooq, Lee McGregor or Marc Leach but who has always fallen short fighting at the top of the national level.
On the other hand, on Friday Thompson Boxing will also organize an evening broadcast on YouTube from the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario, United States. In the main event, American super featherweight George “El Yuyu” Acosta 13(1KO)-1 will face his first fight of the year four months after his fight against José Angulo was canceled at the last minute. In this clash he will face his compatriot Marlin “So Icey” Sims 8(4KO)-1, who has not fought for two years but who suffered his only loss by decision against undefeated prospect Dominique Crowder and could offer rounds of work.
Returning to the United Kingdom, specifically to the Magna Center in Rotherham, this venue will host an interesting English championship for the vacant lightweight belt. In this bout the challengers will be the undefeated Hamed Ghaz 18(4KO)-0, who will face his biggest fight to date, and former English featherweight champion Reece Mold 16(6KO)-1(1), who will battle in his highest caliber bout since his TKO loss to Leigh Wood in February 2021.

-At the Coco Loco Sports Bar in Sosúa, Dominican Republic, Olympian Euri Cedeño 3(3KO)-0 will be overwhelming favorite to achieve his fourth professional victory over Venezuelan Adrián Pérez 16(14KO)-11(7)-1, who comes in a bad run but who on his best day achieved a draw in Russia against Edgar Ghukasyan.
-At the Palladium in Worcester, United States, light heavyweight Richard Rivera 22(17KO)-1 will continue to distance himself from his controversial defeat against Badou Jack fighting against the Brazilian Isaac Rodrigues 28(22KO)-3(3).
Saturday, February 11
The biggest card of the week will be the one organized by PBC and televised by Showtime. In it, Rey Vargas and O’Shaquie Foster will fight for the vacant WBC super featherweight belt, while Mario Barrios will face Jovanie Santiago and Lenier Pero will clash against Victor Faust. On Saturday also stands out a Boxxer and Sky evening in which prospects Adam Azim and Caroline Dubois will face new fights. As a support, Tyler Denny and Brad Pauls will battle in a English championship and Zak Chelli will face Anthony Sims Jr. in a super middleweight bout. Read more following the link.
Moving on to the Philippines, to General Santos, there will be a decisive fight to access a final eliminator in the super flyweight division, since WBO number 6 KJ Cataraja 15(13KO)-0 and former world light flyweight challenger Edward “El Heneral” Heno 15(5KO)-1-6 will meet in a continental championship (OPBF). Although Heno suffered a controversial loss as a visitor against Elwin Soto and has superior quality experience, he has spent most of his career at light flyweight and this time he faces a boxer with much more punch as Cataraja, who is considered a promising fighter. For this reason, although nothing can be taken for granted regarding prospects that face his first decisive test, on paper Cataraja seems to have the weapons and the motivation to achieve victory.

-At the Palais des Sports in Agde, France, Florian Montels 24(5KO)-2-2 will try to capture the vacant European Union super bantamweight belt against a difficult boxer with a misleading record like the Belgian-Armenian Geram Eloyan 8(7KO)-4.
-At the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, United States, Puerto Rican bantamweight Emmanuel “Salserito” Rodríguez 12(7KO)-0 will face a good test against American Sharone Carter 13(3KO)-5(1), who has suffered his only recent losses to Rau’shee Warren and Jonas Sultan.
-At the Hala Widowisko-Sportowa in Stężyca, Poland, PolSat Sport will broadcast an event featuring a Polish championship for the vacant heavyweight belt between Kacper Meyna 9(5KO)-1 and Jakub Sosinski 8(3KO)-1-1.
-At the Hamilton Convention Center in Hamilton, Canada, cruiserweight Ryan «The Bruiser» Rozicki 16(15KO)-1 will have a preparation bout, before a more demanding challenge, facing Latvian Arturs Gorlovs 10(8KO)-2-1
-At the Gimnasio Emporio Barceló in Alcorcón, Spain, the undefeated lightweight Antonio Collado 8(1KO)-0 will face his toughest fight to date against Ricardo Fernández 12(0KO)-7, who is coming off a win in France.
-At the Club Union Carmena in Carmen de Areco, Argentina, TyC Sports will broadcast a South American super featherweight championship between the titleholder Walter Matías “El Distinto” Leiva 10(1KO)-3-1 and the challenger Lucas Matias Montesino 9(7KO)-4(1)-1.
