Débora Dionicius se proclamó campeona mundial del peso supergallo volviendo a derrotar a la “Tigresa” Acuña

Finalmente, la pelea de revancha entre las exmonarcas argentinas, con extenso palmarés, Marcela Eliana “La Tigresa” Acuña 51(20KO)-9(1)-2 y Débora “La Gurisa” Dionicius 35(6KO)-4 no tuvo el título WBO interino del peso supergallo en juego, sino la versión absoluta del título. Así, con su segundo triunfo sobre Acuña, Dionicius se coronó en una segunda división de peso (en el peso pluma sólo fue titular interina) y entró con muy bien pie en la que podría ser una muy interesante campaña 2023 para sus trayectoria. El resultado fue de decisión unánime y las puntuaciones de justo doble 97-93 y un 96-94.
La ventaja en velocidad de Dionicius quedó de manifiesto tan pronto como en el primer round, ya que pudo sacar su jab, su derecha o cortas combinaciones seguidas de desplazamientos laterales ante una Acuña a la que le faltaba un paso o más para alcanzar la distancia que necesitaba. En el segundo asalto “La Tigresa” tuvo ciertos resultados favorables al lograr hacer valer su fuerza en unos intercambios en corta, pero en general en la pugna Dionicius tuvo un ritmo de piernas y manos demasiado elevado para esta fase de la carrera de Acuña, que recibía ataques en entradas y salidas y no lograba presionar eficazmente cuando avanzaba.
La pelea se afianzó de esa manera, con Acuña no logrando éxitos decisivos cuando pasaba al ataque, que le llevaban a recibir contragolpes de la móvil “Gurisa”, y con Dionicius explotando los momentos de pausa o duda de su oponente para lanzar veloces series seguidas de paso atrás. Así, mezclándose el juego de piernas, la cadencia de golpes y el control de la distancia de Dionicius, ésta logró ponerse por delante.
En algunos momentos, como en el séptimo round, la voluntariosa Acuña consiguió conectar buenos golpes de poder con hooks en corta y algún derechazo, pero su trabajo no consiguió ser lo suficientemente regular ante una Dionicius que estuvo muy acertada en acciones defensivas y que se ayudó de un considerable número de agarres. Así, y lanzando sus veloces manos de forma consistente, Dionicius terminó asegurándose un merecido triunfo.
Teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de logros que ha obtenido en su carrera y que han conseguido alcanzar el Salón de la Fama boxeadoras con un récord mucho menos brillante que ella, parece que Marcela Acuña está destinada a ingresar en el citado selecto club en cuanto se retire y haya pasado el periodo mínimo antes de la inclusión. Por ello, y aunque todavía es capaz de lograr victorias destacables, quizás no sea necesario prolongar más una carrera que se inició ni más ni menos que en el año 1997.
Por su parte, Dionicius conquistó un cetro cuya posesión podría ser vital para alcanzar una mayúscula contienda. Y es que, en la época que está viviendo actualmente el boxeo femenino, resulta perfectamente viable que le llegue una propuesta para unificar o para combatir en una velada importante en el extranjero por una buena bolsa.

The rematch fight between the Argentinian former champions, with many achievements, Marcela Eliana «La Tigresa» Acuña 51(20KO)-9(1)-2 and Débora «La Gurisa» Dionicius 35(6KO)-4 did not have the interim WBO super bantamweight title at stake, but the absolute version of the belt. Thus, with her second victory over Acuña, Dionicius was crowned in a second weight division (at featherweight she was only interim titlist) and entered on the right foot what could be a very interesting 2023 campaign for her career. The verdict was a unanimous decision and the scores were a fair double 97-93 and one 96-94.
Dionicius’ speed advantage was evident as early as the first round, as she was able to throw her jab, her right hand or short combinations followed by lateral movements against Acuña, who was a step short of reaching the distance she needed. In the second round, «La Tigresa» had certain favorable results when she used her strength in some exchanges at close range, but in general in the fight Dionicius had a rhythm of legs and hands that was too high for this phase of Acuña’s career. In other words, Acuña could not press effectively when she advanced and was attacked by Dionicius going in and out.
The fight was consolidated in this way, with Acuña not achieving decisive successes when she went on the attack, which led her to receive counterpunches from the mobile «Gurisa», and with Dionicius exploiting her opponent’s moments of pause or doubt to launch fast combinations followed by a step back. Thus, with her footwork, punch output and control of distance Dionicius managed to take the lead.
At times, such as in the seventh round, the brave Acuña connected good power shots with hooks at short range and some right hands, but her work was not consistent enough against Dionicius, who was very successful in defensive actions and resorted to a considerable number of clinches. Thus, and hitting with his fast hands consistently, Dionicius ended up securing a well-deserved victory.
Taking into account the number of achievements that she has obtained in her career and that boxers with a record much less brilliant than her have managed to enter the Hall of Fame, it seems that Marcela Acuña is destined to become a Hall of Famer as soon as she retires and the minimum period before inclusion has passed. For this reason, and although she is still capable of scoring mentionable victories, perhaps it is not necessary to extend more a career that began in the year 1997.
For her part, Dionicius conquered a title whose possession could be crucial to reach a big fight, since, considering the present situation in women’s boxing, it is perfectly feasible that she could receive an offer to unify or to participate in an important evening abroad with a good purse.
