Como el kazajo Janibek Alimkhanuly 13(8KO)-0 no brilló como en sus anteriores actuaciones ni fue tan contundente en su triunfo sobre el británico Denzel Bentley 17(14KO)-2(1)-1, que ofreció una actuación muy tenaz y meritoria, algunos analistas lo han aprovechado para señalar que el invicto no es para tanto y así intentar proteger las imágenes de Munguía y Andrade, que evitaron combatir contra él.
Sin embargo, si Alimkhanuly “no es nada especial” y eso “ha quedado demostrado” con su actuación ante Bentley, esto sólo hace que la actitud de Munguía y Andrade sea más lamentable aún, puesto que estos dos púgiles evitaron afrontar un campeonato mundial por una buena bolsa ante un rival “al que habrían derrotado fácilmente”. El triunfo de Alimkhanuly sobre Bentley llegó con cartulinas de doble 116-112 y un 118-110.
Los comedidos ataques del zurdo Alimkhanuly le bastaron para crear un firme control táctico durante la primera mitad, ganando asaltos de manera consecutiva con sus jabs, sus aislados izquierdazos y con ganchos variados ante un adversario móvil. Bentley le estaba dando demasiado terreno a su incisivo contrincante y lo estaba pagando, siendo sacudido varias veces aunque sin ser puesto en críticos apuros.
Después de que el monarca se situase rozando asegurarse la victoria a los puntos, hacia la mitad el británico intentó reaccionar manteniéndose en el centro del ring y sacando algunas combinaciones, teniendo sus mejores resultados hasta el momento en la pugna. Pero no consiguió impactar golpes que pudiesen sacar totalmente de su boxeo a Alimkhanuly.
Aunque el retador llegó en algún momento con algún duro hook arriba, aunque su rival se cansó de más en la segunda mitad y aunque cuando Bentley insistió en luchar en el centro del ring las acciones se igualaron cada vez más, por lo general el campeón continuó ofreciendo un combate más regular a través de su gran timing y de su precisión. No obstante, Alimkhanuly se terminó encontrando con más trabajo del esperado y no fue capaz de arrinconar a su contrincante o de romper completamente el duelo, teniendo los asaltos del último tercio contendidos intercambios.
Con esto Bentley logró más de lo que se esperaba, pero siguió siendo sacudido repetidamente por los certeros golpes de Alimkhanuly y continuó en inferioridad táctica general antes de que en el duodécimo round quedase seriamente tocado y se viese obligado a correr y a agarrarse. Aun así, pese a los problemas, Bentley continuó resistiendo, logró recuperarse y atacó con valentía antes de alcanzar la última campana con su prestigio mejorado.
Y es que al plantar cara a un boxeador temido demostró, pese al duro revés que sufrió ante Felix Cash, que tiene más cualidades de las que se le suelen reconocer. De ese modo, es seguro que Frank Warren le conseguirá a Bentley nuevas interesantes oportunidades en el futuro próximo. Por su parte, Alimkhanuly quizás ahora, al haber mostrado brechas, pueda convencer a algún boxeador de élite para que se enfrente a él, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que Bob Arum señaló que piensa poner sobre la mesa una gran suma para facilitar pactar el siguiente choque de su boxeador.
Top Rank también tendrá que trabajar en los despachos ahora para intentar cumplir los deseos de coronarse campeona indiscutida de la monarca WBA del peso mínimo, la estadounidense Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada 23(9KO)-0, que cumplió con lo esperado y logró una amplísima victoria unánime (triple 100-90) sobre la voluntariosa argentina Jazmín Gala Villarino 6(1KO)-2-2.

As the Kazakh Janibek Alimkhanuly 13(8KO)-0 did not shine as in his previous performances nor was he as forceful in his victory over the British Denzel Bentley 17(14KO)-2(1)-1, who offered a very tenacious and meritorious performance, some analysts have taken advantage of it to point out that the undefeated is not very good and thus try to protect Munguía and Andrade, who avoided fighting him.
However, if Alimkhanuly «is not special» and that «has been proven» with his performance against Bentley, this only makes the attitude of Munguía and Andrade even worse, since these two fighters avoided facing a world championship and earning a good purse against an opponent «whom they would have easily defeated». But he failed to land shots that could knock Alimkhanuly out of his boxing altogether.
Although the challenger landed some hard hook upstairs, although his rival got tired a bit too much in the second half and although when Bentley insisted on fighting in the center of the ring the actions became more and more even, in general the titlist continued to offer a more regular performance through his great timing and his precision. However, Alimkhanuly ended up finding himself with more work than expected and was unable to corner his opponent, with the rounds of the final third having contested exchanges.
With this Bentley achieved more than expected, but kept being rocked by Alimkhanuly’s well-aimed punches and continued to be in overall tactical inferiority before in the twelfth round he was seriously hurt and was forced to run and hold. Still, despite the problems, Bentley continued to resist, managed to recover and bravely attacked before reaching the last bell with his prestige improved.
Winning rounds against a feared boxer he showed, despite the hard setback he suffered against Felix Cash, he has more qualities than are usually admitted.
