En un choque entre jóvenes peso supermosca, estando en juego un título regional mexicano, Miguel “Mickey” Martínez se anotó una merecida victoria por decisión dividida ante Alexis “El Chino” González. Crónica y video del combate siguiendo el link.
Pasando al evento estadounidense de este día, todos los favoritos vencieron, quedando emplazados a peleas significativas: el peso wélter ucraniano Ivan “The Volk” Golub 21(16KO)-1 le asestó la derrota más rápida de su carrera al estadounidense Wesley Tucker 15(9KO)-4(2), que abandonó en el cuarto asalto, el peso superligero ruso-armenio Petros Ananyan 17(8KO)-3(1)-2 batió por KOT en el sexto round al brasileño Paulo Cesar Galdino 12(8KO)-6(4) y la peso superpluma estadounidense Heather Hardy 23(4KO)-2 superó por decisión unánime (60-54 y doble 58-56) a la colombiana Calista Silgado 20(15KO)-16(3)-3.
Terminando con el jueves, la prometedora peso gallo costarricense Julianna “La China” Rodríguez 5(4KO)-0 cumplió en su mayor reto hasta la fecha derrotando por KOT en el octavo asalto a la panameña Sayda “La Bomba” Mosquera 9(6KO)-4(2)-1, que venía de aguantar diez asaltos contra la invicta Jennifer Miranda. Rodríguez está avanzando a paso firme y, de continuar así, en poco tiempo aparecerá en las listas.
Viernes 14 de octubre
El campeonato por el vacante cinturón de Europa del gallo terminó con el cinturón en manos del italiano Alessio “Mosquito” Lorusso, que ofreció un buen boxeo móvil y técnico antes de batir por knockout en el último asalto al voluntarioso español Sebastián “Látigo” Pérez. En este poco ajetreado viernes se produjeron también estos otros resultados:
-El prometedor peso mosca estadounidense Anthony Olascuaga 5(3KO)-0 venció por KOT en el primer asalto a un Marco “El Lobito” Sustaita 13(11KO)-5(3)-1 que fue batido en cinco asaltos por Ricardo “El Niño” Sandoval y en ocho por Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez. Olascuaga era 8º WBA antes de este triunfo y escalará posiciones al haber defendido un título menor.
-La sorpresa de la jornada se produjo en el duelo del peso wélter entre los argentinos Cristian “Azteca” Ayala 9(4KO)-2(1)-1 y Cristian “Escopeta” Reggiardo 9(5KO)-3(1), puesto que el segundo, que había perdido todos sus combates importantes anteriores, cortó la racha de Ayala con un KOT en el tercer round y capturó un título menor que situará su nombre en la parte baja del ranking oficial WBO.
-La invicta peso wélter belga, 3ª WBA, Oshin Derieuw 17(6KO)-0 finalmente no peleó contra la olímpica marroquí Mahjouba Oubtil, sin contra la sustituta Karina Szmalenberg 14(3KO)-55(3)-4 a la que derrotó por amplísima decisión unánime (triple 80-72).
Sábado 15 de octubre
En el esperado duelo por la corona indiscutida del peso medio entre Claressa Shields y Savannah Marshall, la primera ofreció grandes muestras de tenacidad y no poca destreza para lograr imponerse por decisión unánime, afianzándose como número 1 libra por libra del boxeo femenino. Mucho menos concluyente resultó el choque de unificación de tres cinturones mundiales del peso superpluma entre Mikaela Mayer y Alycia Baumgardner. Aunque la victoria de Mayer o el empate hubiesen resultado también justificables, los jueces le dieron el triunfo a Baumgardner, quien tras el combate rechazó darle una revancha a su rival. En el otro campeonato por un título indiscutido de la jornada, el campeón unificado WBA-WBC-IBF-WBO del peso ligero Devin Haney venció con todavía más claridad la revancha ante el excampeón George Kambosos. La cartelera principal de este evento también dejó el triunfo por decisión unánime del top 15 WBA del peso supermedio César Mateo Tapia sobre Abdoulaye Mayweather y la defensa como campeón de Australia del peso superpluma de Rocky Ogden con un KOT en el primer round sobre Ben Cameron Hands. Pasando a la cartelera de Probellum, el prometedor peso supergallo Peter McGrail 5(4KO)-0 continuó su imparable avance profesional derrotando por abandono en el quinto asalto al nicaragüense Alexander Espinoza 21(8KO)-5(3)-2. El invicto McGrail ya tiene programada una nueva pelea ante el japonés Hironori Miyake en el respaldo del Inoue-Butler, que se producirá el 13 de diciembre.
Por su parte, el exaspirante mundial James “Jazza” Dickens 32(12KO)-4(3) logró una victoria por decisión unánime (doble 115-113 y un 116-112) sobre Lerato Dlamini 18(10KO)-2 para continuar recuperándose de su derrota ante Kid Galahad.
Otra cartelera británica fue la que dejó la victoria por decisión unánime de la ranqueada peso wélter Dee Allen sobre la mexicana Cindy Reyes y la coronación de Nina Hughes como campeona de la Commonwealth del peso supergallo con un KOT en el segundo round sobre Flora Machela. -La primera victoria antes del límite de la carrera de Mohamed Kani 21(1KO)-3 llegó en un momento importante, puesto que con un KO en el sexto round derrotó a Yahya Tlaouziti 19(8KO)-6(2)-3 y se coronó campeón de la Unión Europea del peso wélter.
-El cubano Dayan González no fue al final el oponente del afgano Hasibullah Ahmadi 15(5KO)-0, sino que éste se midió al sustituto ghanés Solomon Martey 13(8KO)-1-1 al que derrotó por decisión unánime (triple 99-90).
-El olímpico Hassan Amzile 5(1KO)-0 se convirtió en campeón de Francia del peso superligero derrotando por decisión unánime (98-92 y doble 97-93) a Romain Couture 11(4KO)-6-2.
-El peso pluma argentino Carlos Alanis 10(2KO)-0 venció por decisión unánime (96-94 y doble 97-93) a Nicolás Emiliano Paz 8(3KO)-8(1)-2 y podría escalar peldaños desde su posición de 15º WBO.
-El peso gallo Fran Mendoza 15(7KO)-0 derrotó por decisión unánime a Johneiker Quintana 15(10KO)-6(3).

In a clash between young super flyweights, with a regional Mexican title at stake, Miguel “Mickey” Martínez achieved a well-deserved split decision victory over Alexis “El Chino” González. Article and video of the fight following the link.
Moving on to this Thursday’s American event, all the favorites obtained wins and now they await significant fights: Ukrainian welterweight Ivan “The Volk” Golub 21(16KO)-1 dealt the fastest loss of his career to American Wesley Tucker 15( 9KO)-4(2), whom he beat in the fourth round, the Russian-Armenian super lightweight Petros Ananyan 17(8KO)-3(1)-2 defeated Brazilian Paulo Cesar Galdino 12(8KO)-6(4) by TKO in the sixth round and the American super featherweight Heather Hardy 23(4KO)-2 won by unanimous decision (60-54 and double 58-56) against the Colombian Calista Silgado 20(15KO)-16(3)-3.
On the other hand, promising Costa Rican bantamweight Julianna “La China” Rodríguez 5(4KO)-0 fulfilled her objective in her biggest challenge to date defeating by TKO in the eighth round Panamanian Sayda “La Bomba” Mosquera 9(6KO) -4(2)-1, who was coming from reaching the final bell against undefeated Jennifer Miranda. Thus, Rodríguez is advancing steadily and, if she continues like this, in a short time she will appear on the rankings.
Friday, October 14
The championship for the vacant European bantamweight belt ended with the title in the hands of the Italian Alessio “Mosquito” Lorusso, who offered good mobile and technical boxing before beating the tenacious Spaniard Sebastián “Látigo” Pérez by knockout in the last round. In this not very busy Friday, these other results also stand out:
-The promising American flyweight Anthony Olascuaga 5(3KO)-0 beat by TKO in the first round Marco «El Lobito» Sustaita 13(11KO)-5(3)-1, who was defeated in five rounds by Ricardo «El Niño” Sandoval and in eight by Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez. Olascuaga was 8th WBA before this victory and will climb positions having defended a minor title.
-The upset of the day happened in the welterweight duel between Argentinians Cristian “Azteca” Ayala 9(4KO)-2(1)-1 and Cristian “Escopeta” Reggiardo 9(5KO)-3(1), since the latter, who had lost all his previous important fights, cut Ayala’s streak with a TKO in the third round and captured a minor title that will place his name in the lower part of the official WBO ranking.
-The undefeated Belgian welterweight, 3rd WBA, Oshin Derieuw 17(6KO)-0 finally did not fight against the Moroccan Olympian Mahjouba Oubtil, but against the substitute Karina Szmalenberg 14(3KO)-55(3)-4, whom she defeated by wide unanimous decision (triple 80-72).

In the long-awaited duel for the undisputed middleweight crown between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall, the former offered grit and skill to win by unanimous decision, establishing herself as number 1 pound for pound in women’s boxing. Read more following the link.
Much less conclusive was the unification clash of three super featherweight belts between Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner. Although Mayer’s victory or a draw would also have been justifiable, the judges gave the victory to Baumgardner, who after the fight refused to give her opponent a rematch.
