Breve: Hughie Fury vuelve a alegar enfermedad para cancelar eliminatoria WBA del peso pesado contra Michael Hunter

Desde el comienzo, el combate tuvo tantos movimientos en el calendario que se llegó a un punto bastante absurdo. Finalmente, Boxxer anunció que la eliminatoria WBA del peso pesado entre el británico Hughie Fury y el estadounidense Michael Hunter se produciría el 29 de octubre. Con todo, esta tampoco será la fecha del encuentro y quizás éste realmente nunca llegue a producirse. Y es que, después de que la pelea se aplazase de su última fecha oficial el 2 de julio por enfermedad de Fury, éste alega que todavía no se ha recuperado de la misma y que no puede combatir, señalando que es debido a que padece “COVID persistente”.
Evidentemente, muchos no se creen la explicación dada por Fury, especialmente, teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de fechas tentativas que ha tenido la pelea, pero el hecho es que Hunter tendrá que buscarse otro oponente para el choque eliminatorio. Y es que Fury señala que no boxeará en lo que queda de año.

From the beginning, the fight was moved so many times on the calendar that it got to a pretty absurd point. Finally, Boxxer announced that the WBA heavyweight eliminator between British Hughie Fury and American Michael Hunter would take place on October 29. However, this will not be the date of the clash either and perhaps it will never take place. After the fight was postponed from its last official date on July 2 due to an illness suffered by Fury, the boxer alleges now that he has not yet recovered from it, pointing out that he is having «long covid symptoms».
Obviously, many don’t buy that explanation, especially considering how many tentative dates the fight has had, but the fact remains that Hunter will have to find another opponent for the eliminator, as Fury states that he will not box in the remainder of the year.
