Los mejores combates del fin de semana (22-24/9/2022)

En ocasiones los fines de semana con grandes veladas en PPV son sucedidos por otros bastante escasos de actividad boxística relevante. Pero este no será el caso de las próximas jornadas, puesto que se producirá un muy buen evento el sábado, un interesante campeonato mundial el viernes y varias otras carteleras con alicientes.
Jueves 22 de septiembre
Como tantísimos otros días en el año, el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, acogerá una velada de boxeo, en este caso organizada por Ichiriki Promotions y encabezada por el campeonato OPBF del peso gallo entre los locales Keita Kurihara 16(14KO)-6(3)-1 y Kai Chiba 14(8KO)-3(1). Desde su derrota ante Takuma Inoue (hermano de “Monster” Inoue), el pegador Kurihara ha escalado hasta los puestos de 11º WBC y 15º WBO, por lo que con esta defensa de su cinturón de ámbito continental ante un Chiba voluntarioso pero teóricamente a un nivel inferior buscará mejorar algo su posicionamiento antes de un combate decisivo.
En el respaldo, el veterano exaspirante mundial Akihiro Kondo 34(19KO)-10(1)-2 realizará un rodaje sin título en juego (antes de una defensa de su cetro OPBF del peso superligero) midiéndose en revancha al bravo Tatsuya Yanagi 18(7KO)-7(3)-2, al que derrotó por decisión en 2019.
Viernes 23 de septiembre
El viernes tendrá lugar un campeonato mundial unificado WBO-WBC del peso superpluma entre el titular Shakur Stevenson y el oro olímpico Robson Conceição. En el semifondo combatirá el plata olímpico Keyshawn Davis. Previa del combate siguiendo el enlace.
También en Estados Unidos, en el DoubleTree Hotel de Ontario, Thompson Boxing ofrecerá una de sus veladas emitidas por YouTube. En principio, el combate estelar será un choque entre dos jóvenes peso superwélter invictos y con buena base amateur como Richard Brewart Jr. 12(4KO)-0 y Joeshon “Showtime” James 6(3KO)-0, quienes podrían llevar a un nuevo nivel sus carreras en caso de lograr una victoria en este significativo test a sus desarrollos. Además, en la velada el peso pluma Roberto “The Ram” Meza 15(8KO)-2-1 pondrá fin a 13 meses de inactividad enfrentándose al fogueado y competente Isaac “Canelito” Avelar 16(10KO)-5(2), que viene de ofrecer una meritoria actuación ante el invicto George Acosta.
Por otro lado, en el Grand Oasis Hotel de Cancún, México, la plataforma de streaming ProBox Tv ofrecerá una cartelera que contará con un exigente combate para el prospecto supergallo Cristopher “Pollo” López 15(10KO)-0-1. Y es que éste se enfrentará al joven y peligroso Alejandro Jair “Conejo” González 11(6KO)-4(1)-2, boxeador que se anotó una victoria en Reino Unido y que ha padecido sus derrotas más recientes de manera muy ajustada (o directamente controvertida) ante Liborio Solís, Frency Fortunato Saya y Bryan Mercado.
En el acompañamiento de este evento, la excampeona mundial del peso supermosca Guadalupe “Lupita” Martínez 19(6KO)-10 pondrá fin a más de un año y medio de inactividad enfrentándose en el peso supergallo a la dura exretadora mundial Mayeli Flores 8(3KO)-1-1, y el arribado citado Bryan “El Chillón Destructor” Mercado 22(17KO)-1 buscará su tercera victoria del año ante un Víctor de Jesús Albino 14(5KO)-1(1) que llega de anotarse la mayor victoria de su carrera ante el invicto Gustavo Vega.
Sábado 24 de septiembre
El mayor evento de la semana será el organizado por Frank Warren y encabezado por el combate del peso pesado entre Joe Joyce y Joseph Parker. En el respaldo, entre otros combates, Amanda Serrano disputará una unificación ante Sarah Mahfoud, Michael Magnesi y Anthony Cacace se medirán en un interesante choque del peso superpluma y Ekow Essuman expondrá su título británico ante Samuel Antwi. A la misma hora se desarrollará una velada de Matchroom Boxing y DAZN que tendrá como pugna estelar el choque del peso ligero entre el enrachado Maxi Hughes y el excampeón mundial Kid Galahad. También destaca la cartelera que Bild+ emitirá desde el Friedrich-Ebert-Halle en Ludwigshafen, Alemania, cartel en el cual la invicta local Sarah “Babyface” Bormann 14(7KO)-0 tratará de situarse aún más cerca de un mundial en el peso mínimo, y comparará su rendimiento al de la cumbre, enfrentándose a la exretadora mundial mexicana Elizabeth “Veneno” López 10(1KO)-4(3)-5, que en su último combate logró un empate como visitante (en realidad mereció la victoria) ante la monarca WBC del peso átomo Fabiana Bytyqi.
En el respaldo, el 9º WBA del peso crucero Huseyin Cinkara 18(15KO)-0 tratará de escalar puestos en el ranking peleando por un título menor contra el estadounidense con limitado encaje Al Sands 22(19KO)-4(4)-1 y el peso superwélter Ahmad Ali 17(11KO)-0-1 disputará una revancha ante el excampeón de Italia Felice Moncelli 23(5KO)-7(2)-1.
Por otro lado, en el Club Atlético Ferrocarril Midland de Libertad, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará un mundial femenino en el que estará en juego el cinturón WBO del peso mosca. Dicho cetro será defendido por primera vez por Gabriela Celeste “La Chucky” Alaniz 13(5KO)-0, que tras su victoria por KOT sobre Tamara Demarco será clarísima favorita para vencer a la cinco veces retadora mundial venezolana Débora “La Pantera” Rengifo 18(10KO)-9(4)-1. En este mismo cartel, la icónica exmonarca mundial Marcela Eliana “La Tigresa” Acuña 50(20KO)-8(1)-2 pondrá fin a diez meses de inactividad peleando contra Laura Soledad “La Joya” Griffa 18(1KO)-7.

-En el Sibur Arena de San Petersburgo, Rusia, emitido por Match Tv, el peso pesado Sergey Kuzmin 17(13KO)-2 tratará de lograr su tercer triunfo desde su derrota por decisión ante Martin Bakole enfrentándose al excampeón de Sudáfrica Tian Fick 9(5KO)-1.
-En el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, se producirá el aplazado combate entre el campeón de Inglaterra del peso superpluma Liam Dillon 11(3KO)-0-1 y el invicto nigeriano Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab 22(15KO)-0.
-En el Coliseo Elias Chegwin de Barranquilla, Colombia, ESPN Knockout emitirá el segundo combate profesional del peso mosca, plata olímpico, Yuberjen Martínez 1(1KO)-0, que debería poder noquear al venezolano Jimson García 11(6KO)-4(2)-1. Además, el exretador mundial estadounidense Dewayne Beamon 21(15KO)-4(1)-3 se medirá en el peso supermosca al invicto venezolano Isaac Arias 10(9KO)-0.

Sometimes the weekends with big PPV cards are followed by others that lack relevant boxing activity. But this will not be the case for the next few days, since there will be a very good event on Saturday, a unified world championship on Friday and several other interesting cards.
Thursday, September 22
Like so many other days of the year, the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, will be the venue for a boxing event, in this case organized by Ichiriki Promotions and headlined by the OPBF bantamweight championship between Keita Kurihara 16(14KO)-6( 3)-1 and Kai Chiba 14(8KO)-3(1). Since his loss to Takuma Inoue (brother of “Monster” Inoue), the puncher Kurihara has climbed to the position of 11th WBC and 15th WBO, so with this defense of his continental belt against a brave boxer but theoretically at a lower level than him he will look to improve his ranking somewhat before a decisive bout.
