A quien le guste el boxeo femenino, en esta semana está de suerte, puesto que podrá ver tres unificaciones, siendo una de ellas realmente trascendental. Por contra, a quien no le entusiasme el pugilismo femenino, en las próximas jornadas no tendrá enormes carteleras, pero igualmente podrá entretenerse con unos cuantos eventos que contarán con peleas con ciertos alicientes.
Jueves 8 de septiembre
La Ciudad Deportiva Heiner Ugalde en Hatillo, Costa Rica, acogerá una velada de Golden Boy Promotions, emitida por DAZN y YouTube, que contará con una unificación de cinturones mundiales femenina. Y es que la monarca IBF del peso mínimo, la local Yokasta Valle 25(9KO)-2, y la campeona WBO, la vietnamita Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen 5(1KO)-0, se verán las caras en el combate estelar. Dado que Nguyen es una boxeadora con escasa experiencia profesional, que se coronó ajustadamente ante Etsuko Tada y que se enfrenta a una Valle con un nivel muy superior y con un ritmo mucho más consistente, la victoria de la costarricense parece el resultado lógico.
En el respaldo, la estadounidense Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz 11(6KO)-0-1 y la mexicana Sonia Osorio 15(4KO)-7-2 disputarán una revancha (con el título WBC interino del peso supermosca en juego) de su duelo terminado en empate técnico en marzo de 2021. Además, la mexicana, exnúmero 1 del peso mínimo, Anabel “Avispa” Ortiz 31(4KO)-5(1) tratará de regresar a la senda del triunfo (tras derrotas ante Seniesa Estrada y Marlen Esparza) combatiendo contra la guatemalteca María Micheo 9(5KO)-1(1), que viene de ser duramente noqueada por la misma Estrada.
Viernes 9 de septiembre
El viernes contará con el retorno de la serie de eventos ShoBox: The New Generation con una velada emitida por Showtime (y por TyC Sports) desde el Bally’s Event Center de Atlantic City, Estados Unidos. El choque estelar será un interesante duelo del peso superligero entre el estadounidense Joseph “Blessed Hands” Adorno 16(14KO)-1, que sólo ha sido derrotado por Michel Rivera, y el argentino Hugo “Nato” Roldán 21(7KO)-0-1, que disputará de lejos el mayor test de su carrera hasta la fecha.
En la cartelera principal se incluirán otros dos choques con interés. En uno el prospecto noruego de origen filipino Bernard Angelo “La Máquina” Torres 16(7KO)-0 realizará su debut en Estados Unidos contra el joven dominicano Frency Fortunato Saya 13(10KO)-1, más conocido por participar en un combate contra el olímpico Alberto Melián que tuvo en total siete knockdowns. En el otro, el imbatido peso wélter Janelson Figueroa Bocachica 17(11KO)-0-1 pondrá fin a 14 meses de inactividad combatiendo contra el pegador venezolano con 100% de knockouts Roiman “Flaco de Oro” Villa 24(24KO)-1.
También en Estados Unidos, en el Whitesands Events Center de Plant City, se producirá un evento emitido por el servicio de suscripción ProBox TV encabezado por dos encuentros con abrumadores favoritos. En el estelar, el peso crucero estadounidense Brandon “Bulletproof” Glanton 16(13KO)-0, 8º WBA y 14º IBF, no debería tener problemas para noquear al mexicano Mario “El Ruso” Aguilar 22(18KO)-7(4), que ha sido noqueado por rivales como Félix Valera y Anthony Sims Jr., mientras que en el coestelar el fortísimo peso superpluma georgiano Otar “Pitbull” Eranosyan 11(6KO)-0 debería arrollar al muy venido a menos mexicano César “Corazón” Juárez 27(20KO)-11(4).
Mejor emparejado parece, por lo tanto, un duelo del respaldo entre dos invictos estadounidenses como los peso supermedio Hakim López 13(8KO)-0 y Richard VanSiclen 12(6KO)-0, que afrontarán una prueba interesante para conocer sus niveles e impulsar sus trayetorias.
No sólo en Estados Unidos se producirán veladas en las que, comparativamente, una sale perdiendo por mucho, puesto que en Canadá sucederá lo mismo. Y es que DAZN iniciará una nueva campaña en el boxeo canadiense con un evento desde el CAA Centre de Brampton en el que sólo se puede destacar un choque, con título menor en juego de un organismo no reconocido, en el que el invicto local Josh “The Boss” Wagner 12(6KO)-0 partirá como claro favorito para vencer al mexicano Jorge “Soldado” Pérez 13(5KO)-2(1) que viene de dos derrotas consecutivas.
En cambio la otra velada canadiense, organizada por Eye of the Tiger Management desde el Casino de Montreal y emitida por ESPN+, sin ser extraordinaria ni mucho menos contará con la participación del prometedor peso supermedio Christian “Solide” Mbilli 21(19KO)-0, que tratará de afianzar su posición de 3º WBC peleando por un título menor contra el experimentado estadounidense DeAndre “Axeman” Ware 15(9KO)-3(2)-2. También pugnará en ella la prospecta del peso superwélter, oro mundial amateur, Mary Elizabeth Spencer 6(4KO)-0, que tratará de acercarse a una pelea titular peleando contra la exaspirante mundial mexicana Cynthia “Canelita” Lozano 9(7KO)-1(1). Finalmente, el peso pesado Simon “The Grizzly” Kean 21(20KO)-1(1) disputará un sencillo rodaje contra el asequible Newfel Ouatah 18(10KO)-4(4).
Terminando con el viernes, se puede hacer mención de estos otros dos choques:
-En el Magna Centre de Rotherham, Reino Unido, emitido por Fightzone el campeón de Inglaterra del peso superpluma Liam Dillon 11(3KO)-0-1 tratará de realizar la primera defensa de su cinturón ante un Levi Giles 13(3KO)-0 que nunca ha disputado un duelo titular ni un combate contra un rival con aspiraciones.
-En Dimiao, Filipinas, el invicto peso minimosca Regie “Filipino Phenom” Suganob 11(4KO)-0, se mantendrá preparado para una posible eliminatoria IBF enfrentándose al imbatido y zurdo indonesio Andika D’Golden Boy 19(10KO)-0-1.
Sábado 10 de septiembre
En este día se producirá una de las más importantes veladas que el boxeo femenino ha tenido, puesto que cuatro boxeadoras consideradas top 10 libra por libra se enfrentarán entre sí. Por un lado, Savannah Marshall y Claressa Shields pelearán por la corona indiscutida del peso medio, mientras que por el otro Mikaela Mayer y Alycia Baumgardner unificarán tres cinturones del peso superpluma.

El segundo evento más importante del sábado se producirá en Alemania, en concreto en el Unihalle de Wuppertal, emitido por Bild+, y en él se producirá un interesante campeonato de la Unión Europa del peso supermedio, y duelo de revancha, entre el titular Marten Arsumanjan 12(6KO)-1(1)-2 y el aspirante Bjoern Schicke 19(10KO)-1(1)-1.
En el primer choque, en junio de 2020, Arsumanjan venció por abandono en el sexto asalto y desde entonces ha mostrado un gran rendimiento. Con todo, si la promotora de Schicke, que parece haber aumentado su pegada recientemente, ha buscado esta revancha, es probable que lo hayan hecho debido a que tienen un as en la manga y tienen confianza en la victoria.
También en el cartel, el 7º IBF del peso superwélter Haro Matevosyan 15(9KO)-0 se mantendrá activo y tratará de proteger o mejorar su posición en las listas peleando por un título menor contra el fogueado mexicano Jhony Navarrete 35(15KO)-17(5)-2, mientras que el invicto Vincenzo Gualtieri 19(7KO)-0-1, 6º IBF del peso medio, buscará lo mismo que su compañero de escuadra pero enfrentándose al excampeón de Italia superwélter Vincenzo Bevilacqua 18(0KO)-1.
Esta no será la única cartelera organizada en Alemania en este día, puesto que el gimnasio de Universum de Hamburgo acogerá una más de sus veladas emitidas a través de YouTube. En ella combatirá el exretador mundial del peso supermedio Vincent Feigenbutz 34(30KO)-3(3), que tras descender al peso medio encadena tres victorias y es 9º IBF y 10º WBO. Tratando de extender su racha, este sábado disputará un rodaje ante un boxeador resistente como el argentino Diego “El Chacarero” Ramirez 24(6KO)-8(1)-1, que este mismo año se anotó un knockdown en Reino Unido ante Nathan Heaney.
En este mismo cartel, el olímpico bielorruso Dzmitry Asanau 3(2KO)-0 buscará el cuarto triunfo del año ante el nicaragüense Robin Zamora 17(8KO)-15(7) y el peso superwélter Freddy Kiwitt 21(12KO)-3 disputará un rodaje ante el venezolano Iván Matute 30(25KO-9(3).
El sábado también destacan estos otros choques:
-En el City General Gymnasium de Yokkaichi, Japón, el excampeón mundial del peso minimosca Masamichi Yabuki 13(12KO)-4(2) disputará su primer combate desde que fue noqueado por Kenshiro Teraji (el pasado marzo) enfrentándose en el peso mosca al tailandés Thanongsak Simsri 24(22KO)-0.
-En el Campo Deportivo del Colegio Privado IMEI en Cañuelas, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará la tercera pelea del año del campeón de Argentina del peso ligero Claudio Daneff 15(8KO)-2(1)-1, que disputará un combate sin título en juego contra su compatriota Christian “El Elegante” Andino 16(2KO)-4(1)-2.
-Al igual que el viernes, el CAA Centre de Brampton, Canadá, acogerá una velada emitida por DAZN con claros favoritos. En ella el peso medio Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti 12(5KO)-0, el peso crucero Salar Gholami 5(2KO)-0 y el peso superwélter Brandon Cook 22(15KO)-2(1) se enfrentarán, respectivamente, a boxeadores con múltiples derrotas antes del límite como Xhuljo Vrenozi 18(3KO)-4(3), Sylvera Louis 8(4KO)-7(6) y Stepan Horvath 21(11KO)-6(4).
Domingo 11 de septiembre
La restante cartelera destacada del fin de semana será la organizada por RCC Boxing en Rusia. En ella el peso ligero Zaur Abdullaev, que llega de batir por KOT al excampeón mundial Jorge Linares, buscará sumar una nueva victoria meritoria ante el pegador mexicano Jovanni Straffon. En el respaldo estarán presentes el participante en eliminatoria Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov y el prospecto Vadim Tukov.

Those who like women’s boxing are in luck this week, since they will be able to watch three unifications, one of them being truly historical for female boxing. On the other hand, those who are not enthusiastic about women’s boxing will not have huge evenings on this week, but they will still be able to entertain themselves with a few events that will have fights with certain interest.
Thursday, September 8
The Ciudad Deportiva Heiner Ugalde in Hatillo, Costa Rica, will be the venue for an evening of Golden Boy Promotions, broadcast on DAZN and YouTube, which will have a unification. That is because the IBF minimumweight monarch, the local Yokasta Valle 25(9KO)-2, and the WBO champion, the Vietnamese Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen 5(1KO)-0, will face each other in the main event. Given that Nguyen is a boxer with little professional experience, who narrowly defeated Etsuko Tada and who faces a Valle with a tremendously superior level and a far more consistent pace, the victory of the Costa Rican seems the logical result.
In the support, the American Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz 11(6KO)-0-1 and the Mexican Sonia Osorio 15(4KO)-7-2 will have a rematch (with the interim WBC super flyweight title at stake) of the duel ended in technical draw in March 2021. In addition, the Mexican, former minimumweight number 1, Anabel «Avispa» Ortiz 31(4KO)-5(1) will try to return to winning ways (after losses to Seniesa Estrada and Marlen Esparza) fighting Guatemalan María Micheo 9(5KO)-1(1), who comes from being knocked out hard by Estrada.
Friday, September 9
On this day the series ShoBox: The New Generation will return with a bill broadcast on Showtime (and TyC Sports) from the Bally’s Event Center in Atlantic City, United States. The main event will be an interesting super lightweight duel between the American Joseph “Blessed Hands” Adorno 16(14KO)-1, who has only been defeated by Michel Rivera, and the Argentinian Hugo “Nato” Roldán 21(7KO)-0-1, who will face by far the biggest test of his career to date.
Two other intriguing clashes will be included on the main card. In one, the Norwegian prospect, of Filipino origin, Bernard Angelo “La Maquina” Torres 16(7KO)-0 will make his debut in the United States against the young Dominican Frency Fortunato Saya 13(10KO)-1, better known for participating in a fight against the Olympian Alberto Melián which had seven knockdowns. In the other, undefeated welterweight Janelson Figueroa Bocachica 17(11KO)-0-1 will end 14 months of inactivity by fighting the Venezuelan puncher, with 100% knockout ratio, Roiman “Flaco de Oro” Villa 24(24KO)-1.
Also in the United States, at the Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, will take place an event broadcast by the subscription service ProBox TV headlined by two matches with wide favorites. In the main event, the American cruiserweight Brandon “Bulletproof” Glanton 16(13KO)-0, 8th WBA and 14th IBF, should have no problem knocking out Mexican Mario “El Ruso” Aguilar 22(18KO)-7(4), who has been stopped by rivals such as Félix Valera and Anthony Sims Jr.. In the co-feature, the very strong Georgian super featherweight Otar “Pitbull” Eranosyan 11(6KO)-0 should overwhelm the very faded Mexican César “Corazón” Juárez 27 (20KO)-11(4).
Therefore, maybe the best matched duel of the card could be a support bout between two undefeated super middleweight Americans such as Hakim López 13(8KO)-0 and Richard VanSiclen 12(6KO)-0, who will clash in an interesting test to show their levels and boost their careers.
Not only in the United States there will be evenings in which, comparatively, one looks a lot worse, since in Canada the same will happen. DAZN will start a new campaign in Canadian boxing with an event from the CAA Center in Brampton in which only one clash can be highlighted. In it, with a minor title at stake from an unrecognized sanctioning body, the undefeated local Josh “The Boss” Wagner 12(6KO)-0 will be the clear favorite to beat Mexican Jorge “Soldado” Pérez 13(5KO)-2(1), who is coming off two consecutive losses.
On the other hand, the other Canadian card, organized by Eye of the Tiger Management from the Montreal Casino and aired by ESPN+, despite not being extraordinary at all, will feature the promising super middleweight Christian «Solide» Mbilli 21(19KO)-0, who will try to strengthen his position as WBC 3rd fighting for a minor title against experienced American DeAndre “Axeman” Ware 15(9KO)-3(2)-2. Also, super welterweight prospect, world amateur gold medalist, Mary Elizabeth Spencer 6(4KO)-0 will try to get closer to a title bout battling Mexican former world challenger Cynthia «Canelita» Lozano 9(7KO)-1(1). Finally, heavyweight Simon “The Grizzly” Kean 21(20KO)-1(1) will face a stay-busy fight against a low-level opponent, Newfel Owatah 18(10KO)-4(4).
On Friday, these two other clashes can be mentioned:
-At the Magna Center in Rotherham, United Kingdom, broadcast by Fightzone, English super featherweight champion Liam Dillon 11(3KO)-0-1 will face the first defense of his belt against Levi Giles 13(3KO)-0, who has never fought in a title bout or against an opponent with aspirations.
-In Dimiao, Philippines, undefeated light flyweight Regie “Filipino Phenom” Suganob 11(4KO)-0 will prepare for a possible IBF eliminator by taking on Indonesian southpaw Andika D’Golden Boy 19(10KO)-0-1.
Saturday, September 10
On this day will take place one of the most important evenings that women’s boxing has ever had, since four boxers considered top 10 pound for pound will clash in its two main fights. On the one hand, Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields will battle for the undisputed middleweight crown, while on the other Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner will unify three super featherweight belts. The second most important event on Saturday will take place in Germany, specifically at the Unihalle in Wuppertal, broadcast by Bild+. It will feature an interesting super middleweight European Union championship, and a rematch, between titleholder Marten Arsumanjan 12(6KO)-1(1)-2 and challenger Bjoern Schicke 19(10KO)-1(1)-1.
In the first match, in June 2020, Arsumanjan won in the sixth round and since then he has had great performances. Still, Schicke seems to have increased his punch recently and if his promoter has sought this rematch it’s likely they did so because they have an ace up their sleeve and are confident of victory.
Also on the card, the 7th IBF super welterweight Haro Matevosyan 15(9KO)-0 will try to improve his position on the list by fighting for a minor title against the experienced Mexican Jhony Navarrete 35(15KO)-17(5)-2, while the undefeated Vincenzo Gualtieri 19(7KO)-0-1, 6th IBF middleweight, will be looking for the same as his squad mate facing former Italian super welterweight champion Vincenzo Bevilacqua 18(0KO)-1.
This will not be the only card organized in Germany, since the Universum Gym in Hamburg will have one more of its evenings broadcast on YouTube. In it, former super middleweight world title challenger Vincent Feigenbutz 34(30KO)-3(3), who after moving down to middleweight has scored three victories and is 9th IBF and 10th WBO. Trying to extend his streak, this Saturday he will face a fight against a resistant boxer like the Argentinian Diego “El Chacarero” Ramirez 24(6KO)-8(1)-1, who this same year scored a knockdown in the United Kingdom against Nathan Heaney.
In this same bill, the Belarusian Olympian Dzmitry Asanau 3(2KO)-0 will seek his fourth victory of the year against the Nicaraguan Robin Zamora 17(8KO)-15(7) and the super welterweight Freddy Kiwitt 21(12KO)-3 will have a stay-busy bout against the Venezuelan Iván Matute 30 (25KO)-9(3).
On Saturday, these other clashes also stand out:

-As on Friday, the CAA Center in Brampton, Canada, will be the venue for an evening broadcast by DAZN with clear favorites. In it, middleweight Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti 12(5KO)-0, cruiserweight Salar Gholami 5(2KO)-0 and super welterweight Brandon Cook 22(15KO)-2(1) will face, respectively, boxers who have suffered multiple stoppage defeats like Xhuljo Vrenozi 18(3KO)-4(3), Sylvera Louis 8(4KO)-7(6) and Stepan Horvath 21(11KO)-6(4).
Sunday, September 11
The remaining featured card of the weekend will be the one organized by RCC Boxing in Russia. In it, lightweight Zaur Abdullaev, who comes from beating by TKO former world champion Jorge Linares, will seek to add a new meritorious victory to his record against the Mexican puncher Jovanni Straffon.
