Después de haber apoyado su avance profesional en peleas ante rivales de récord negativo o con poco bagaje, el invicto italiano Simone “Il Bandito” Giorgetti 9(4KO)-0-1 afrontó anoche un adecuado test ante el exretador al título italiano superwélter Mirko Di Carlantonio 13(3KO)-10(1)-1, rival ante el que hizo toda una declaración de intenciones imponiéndose por KOT en el séptimo round.
Giorgetti salió muy motivado para lograr la mayor victoria de su carrera hasta la fecha y hacerse con su primer título (un cinto menor IBF), avanzando sobre su contrincante y sacando con frecuencia sus manos. Es cierto que a menudo se encimó un tanto, algo que es habitual cuando no se tiene mucha experiencia, pero su jab, su uno-dos-hook abajo y sus uppercuts de ambas manos llegaron con claridad ante Di Carlantonio, que se centró demasiado en el clinch para intentar parar las ofensivas rivales y que sólo eventualmente encontró buenos huecos al contragolpe con sus ganchos zurdos.
En cualquier caso, Giorgetti ofrecía un trabajo muy superior y hacia el cuarto asalto dio la sensación de que Di Carlantonio estaba empezando a ver su resistencia afectada, replegándose más ante la presión de su adversario. Por si esto fuese poco, Di Carlantonio sufrió un corte en torno a su ojo derecho en principio causado por puño, de modo que, pasada la mitad, aunque todavía sacaba alguna esporádica precisa derecha a la contra, la situación se había vuelto muy complicada para él.
Finalmente, tras unos instantes de confusión, al inicio del séptimo asalto el médico revisó la brecha de Di Carlantonio y al momento llegó a la conclusión de que el púgil no podía seguir, llegándose así al resultado de KOT.
Este triunfo ante un boxeador con más de una decena de victorias y con experiencia en campeonatos nacionales es un importante paso adelante para Giorgetti, si bien sólo es el primero de algunos más que tendrá que dar para alcanzar en las mejores condiciones posibles el campeonato nacional italiano. En cualquier caso, por el momento, y más allá de varios ajustes que deberá realizar, Giorgetti tuvo un buen rendimiento y no cabe duda de que, si se le propone pelear por el título de Italia cuando Nicholas Esposito lo deje vacante a medio plazo, contará con opciones de lograr la corona.

After having supported his professional career in fights against rivals with negative record or with little experience, last night the unbeaten Italian Simone «Il Bandito» Giorgetti 9(4KO)-0-1 faced a suitable test against the former Italian national super welterweight challenger Mirko Di Carlantonio 13(3KO)-10(1)-1, an opponent against whom he made a statement defeating him by TKO in the seventh round.
Giorgetti fought highly motivated to achieve the biggest victory of his career to date and win his first title (a minor IBF belt), advancing on his opponent and throwing his hands frequently. It is true that he often got too close to his rival, something that is common in boxers with lack of experience, but his jab, his one-two-hook down and his uppercuts with both hands landed clearly against Di Carlantonio, who focused too much in the clinch to try to stop the attacks and only eventually connected good counterpunches in left hook.
In any case, Giorgetti offered a much superior work and by the fourth round it seemed that the resistance of Di Carlantonio was decreasing, retreating more under the pressure of his opponent. As if this were not enough, Di Carlantonio suffered a cut around his right eye, in principle caused by a punch, so after the halfway point, although he still landed some occasional precise right hands countering, the situation became very complicated for him.
Finally, after a few moments of confusion, at the start of the seventh round, the doctor checked Di Carlantonio’s cut and immediately concluded that the fighter could not continue. Thus, the bout ended in a TKO.
This victory against a boxer with more than a dozen victories and experience in national championships is an important step forward for Giorgetti, although it is only the first one of some more that he will surely have to take to reach the fight for the national belt in the best possible conditions. In any case, for the moment, and beyond several adjustments that he will have to make, Giorgetti has performed well and there is no doubt that, if he reaches the fight for the Italian welterweight title when Nicholas Esposito vacates it in the medium term, he will have a good chance to conquer the crown.
