Zolani Tete logró sencillísimo triunfo sobre el enrachado Jason Cunningham

Después de lograr los triunfos más importantes de su carrera, el peso supergallo británico Jason “The Iceman” Cunningham 31(7KO)-7(2) alcanzó una posición que ni siquiera había soñado, pareciendo que realmente una vez que llegó a su mayor oportunidad hasta la fecha se amedrentó y no supo estar a la altura del reto. Y es que el excampeón mundial sudafricano Zolani Tete 30(23KO)-4(2) le asestó su derrota más amplia, rápida y fácil con un knockout en el cuarto round.
Durante tres asaltos las acciones se mantuvieron en la distancia larga y a un ritmo muy bajo, por lo que un Tete más veloz y preciso, y ligeramente más activo, pudo usar su buen jab para ganar los rounds ante un Cunningham extremadamente dubitativo y que no asumía ningún riesgo. Finalmente, en el cuarto asalto Tete se anotó un knockdown con un directo de izquierda descendente y posteriormente conectó golpes de poder hasta que con un par de hooks desplomó sobre la lona a Cunningham, que no podía seguir.
Tete era 6º WBO del peso supergallo antes de este triunfo sobre un boxeador muy bien clasificado, por lo que es de suponer que ahora recibirá un gran posicionamiento en las listas y que hacia finales del año debería pelear cuanto menos en una antesala titular.

After achieving the biggest wins of his career, the British super bantamweight Jason “The Iceman” Cunningham 31(7KO)-7(2) achieved a position he hadn’t even dreamed of, seeming that once he reached the biggest opportunity of his career he really was intimidated and unable to rise to the challenge. On Saturday, the South African former world champion Zolani Tete 30(23KO)-4(2) dealt him his widest, fastest and easiest defeat with a knockout in the fourth round.
For three rounds the actions were kept in the long distance and at a very slow pace, so a faster and more precise boxer like Tete, and slightly more active, was able to use his good jab to win the rounds against an extremely hesitant Cunningham who did not assume risks. Finally, in the fourth round, Tete scored a knockdown with a straight left and later landed power shots until with a couple of hooks he dropped to the canvas Cunningham, who could not continue.
Tete was 6th WBO at super bantamweight before this win over a very well-ranked fighter, so presumably he will now receive a great positioning in the world list and by the end of the year he should fight at least in an eliminator.
