Jesse Rodríguez extendió acuerdo con Matchroom Boxing: “Quiero seguir mejorando y peleando contra los mejores”

Después de que Jesse Rodríguez hiciese toda una declaración de intenciones sobre su futuro en el boxeo batiendo por KOT a Wisaksil Wangek, el púgil y Matchroom Boxing han firmado una extensión de su acuerdo promocional. Esto supone que la promotora se ha dado cuenta completamente de la estrella en construcción que tiene entre manos y que no quiere dejarla escapar, todo ello a la vez que quiere tener una base estable para poder sacarle todo su potencial deportivo y económico.
En el anuncio oficial del nuevo acuerdo, Jesse Rodríguez señaló entre otras cosas:
“Estoy entusiasmado por firmar con Eddie y Matchroom y muy emocionado por el futuro. La pasada noche fue la mejor de mi carrera hasta el momento, derrotando a un gran boxeador como Rungvisai en mi ciudad, pero esto sólo es el comienzo y hay mucho más que puedo conseguir”.
Por otro lado, Rodríguez dejó en el aire en qué división militará:
“El plan era ir a las 112 lb [peso mosca] y ganar un título ahí, pero estoy abierto a pelear contra cualquiera, quiero seguir mejorando y peleando contra los mejores. Todo boxeador quiere estar en la lista libra por libra, y se llega ahí peleando contra los mejores y derrotándolos”.
En cuanto a Eddie Hearn, éste insistió en la idea de que su boxeador tiene un enorme futuro por delante, sugiriendo además que podría combatir entre el peso minimosca y el supermosca:
“Estoy entusiasmado por ver a Jesse comprometer su futuro con Matchroom y DAZN. Como dije en el ring la pasada noche: superestrella. Eso es todo lo que necesitas saber de este chaval. Es un talento que no se puede pasar por alto y, ya sea en directo en persona o en directo en DAZN, tenéis que verle boxear. Las opciones para Jesse no tienen límite desde las 108 lb [peso minimosca] a las 115 lb [peso supermosca], y con Matchroom y Robert García detrás de él, vamos a ser capaces de exhibir a este boxeador sensacional en las mayores plataformas. La pasada noche tuvo a los fans de su ciudad a sus pies, y queremos que se convierta en una enorme estrella en su propia casa, pero no os equivoquéis, este joven hombre se convertirá en una estrella que toda América apoyará”.

After Jesse Rodríguez made a statement about his future in boxing by beating Wisaksil Wangek by TKO, the fighter and Matchroom Boxing have signed an extension of their promotional agreement. This means that the promoter has fully realized the star in the making that he has and that he does not want to let him escape. At the same time, the company wants to have a stable base to be able to get all the boxing and economic potential of the fighter.
In the official announcement of the new agreement, Jesse Rodríguez pointed out among other things:
“I am delighted to sign with Eddie and Matchroom and so excited for the future. Last night was the best night of my career so far, beating a great fighter like Rungvisai in my hometown – but it’s only the beginning and there’s so much more that I can achieve.
On the other hand, Rodríguez left in the air in which division he will fight:
“The plan has been to go to 112lbs and win a title there but I’m open to fighting anyone, I want to keep improving and fighting the best. Every fighter wants to be on that pound-for-pound list, and you get there by fighting the best and beating them.”
As for Eddie Hearn, he insisted on the idea that his boxer has a huge future ahead of him, also suggesting that he could fight between light flyweight and super flyweight:
“I am delighted to see Jesse commit his future to Matchroom and DAZN. As I said in the ring last night – superstar. That’s all you need to know about this kid – he is a must-watch talent and that’s live in person or live on DAZN, you have to watch him perform. The options for Jesse are endless from 108lbs to 115lbs, and with Matchroom and Robert Garcia behind him, we’re going to be able to showcase this sensational fighter on the biggest platforms. Last night he had his hometown fans on their feet, and we want him to grow into a massive star on his own doorstep, but make no mistake, this young man will grow into a star attraction that all of America will get behind.”
