Parece que los hermanos Sauerland no han tenido suficiente con destruir la compañía de su padre y ahora van a intentar hacer lo posible para llevar a pérdidas también a la empresa Wasserman, que les absorbió. Esta es la única explicación para comprender que emitiesen en PPV una cartelera en la que los dos combates estelares estaban extremadamente desnivelados, en los que la rápida victoria de los favoritos era inevitable y que, consecuentemente, atrajo una muy escasa cantidad de espectadores al estadio.
En cualquier caso, ante la mirada de Tyson Fury, uno de los pocos que quiso estar en el recinto para ver combatir a su primo, el peso pesado Nathan Gorman 19(13KO)-1(1) logró una victoria en el primer asalto demasiado fácil sobre el checo Tomas Salek 17(13KO)-4(3), que realmente ni siquiera lo intentó.
Tratando de deshacerse pronto de un adversario que no estaba ni remotamente a su nivel, Gorman lanzó fuertes directos de mano adelantada y combinaciones de hooks que Salek recibió cerrando su guardia. Con poco tiempo transcurrido de la sesión de “golpeo al saco”, Gorman impactó un cruzado diestro que envió al tapiz a Salek. En la reanudación el visitante fue atacado nuevamente hasta que unos directos diestros le enviaron al tapiz. El checo se levantó e hizo un extraño paso “tambaleante” intentando mostrar que no podía seguir, y el árbitro paró un combate que ni siquiera debió haberse pactado.
Es positivo que Gorman pudiese poner fin a su inactividad de 15 meses y que entrase al ring casi 2 kg más ligero que en su último choque, pero habiendo malgastado cerca de dos años de carrera realizando peleas de dos asaltos y un asalto ante los checos Pavel Sour y Salek, este segundo “enfrentamiento” pareció demasiado poco exigente y de nula utilidad. Sea como sea, su promotor afirmó que ahora Gorman recibirá peleas frecuentes en un pretendido camino hacia alcanzar el mundial, objetivo para el cual en el combate del viernes estuvo en juego un cinturón menor IBF que podría llegar a llevar al púgil al top 15 de este organismo.
