Era de suponer que el duro pegador, y extitutlar mundial, Ángel “Tito” Acosta 23(22KO)-3(2) no iba a tener grandes problemas ante su compatriota Janiel Rivera 18(11KO)-9(4)-3 y que además iba a derrotarle seguramente antes del límite, algo que terminó sucediendo en el cuadrilátero. Aun así, Acosta tardó incluso menos de lo previsto, concluyendo el enfrentamiento en poco más de un minuto del primer asalto.
Con unos 40 segundos transcurridos, Rivera ya fue encerrado en las cuerdas por Acosta, que comenzó a tirar sin parar golpes de poder, especialmente hooks, buscando la victoria por detención. Inicialmente en ese ataque algunos de sus golpes fueron bloqueados y otros errados, pero posteriormente conectó con brutales manos que estremecieron duramente a un Rivera sin respuesta y que llevaron al árbitro a parar el combate.
El deseo de Acosta es enfrentarse al ganador del campeonato mundial WBC del peso mosca Martínez-Arroyo II, que se producirá el día 25 de junio. La pelea entre Acosta y el titular WBC sería posiblemente muy entretenida para el público, asegurando buenos intercambios y acción, si bien que tenga lugar dependerá, en caso de victoria de Martínez ante Arroyo, del entendimiento entre Golden Boy Promotions y Matchroom Boxing (ambas compañías vinculadas a DAZN) y de que esta defensa no interfiera con los planes de unificación del mexicano.

It was predictable that the hard puncher, and former world titleholder, Ángel «Tito» Acosta 23(22KO)-3(2) was not going to have problems against his compatriot Janiel Rivera 18(11KO)-9(4)-3 and that he was also going to surely defeat him by stoppage, something that ended up happening in the ring. Still, Acosta needed even less time than expected, finishing the bout in just over a minute.

The fight between Acosta and the WBC titleholder would possibly be very entertaining for the public, ensuring good exchanges and action. However that it takes place will depend, in the event of Martínez’s victory against Arroyo, on the understanding between Golden Boy Promotions and Matchroom Boxing (both companies linked to DAZN) and on this potential defense not interfering with the unification plans of the Mexican.
