El WBC ordena eliminatorias Ryan García vs. Isaac Cruz, O’Shaquie Foster vs. Eduardo Ramírez, etc.

Nos acercamos a la mitad de la temporada boxística 2022 y, como suele ser habitual en el WBC hacia estas fechas, el organismo ha ordenado una serie de combates con los que se sigue la línea trazada en su convención anual o se añaden nuevos pasos. Entre los enfrentamientos que han sido puestos sobre la mesa por el Consejo Mundial de Boxeo destaca una ordenada eliminatoria del peso ligero entre Ryan García e Isaac Cruz, duelo que decidiría al retador obligatorio por el WBC del campeón indiscutido que salga del combate entre George Kambosos Jr. y Devin Haney.
Por lo tanto, el premio potencial no podría ser mayor para el ganador de la eliminatoria, siendo además el García-Cruz un choque con evidentes alicientes boxísticos, enfrentándose dos boxeadores con estilos agresivos, jóvenes, en buen estado de forma y que son parte de la parte alta de la división. No obstante, sabiéndose cómo funcionan los despachos en el boxeo y teniendo en cuenta que García es representado por Golden Boy y Cruz por PBC, de momento no hay ninguna certeza de que el duelo vaya a tener lugar y habrá esperar a que el choque se negocie y se acuerde para empezar a creer en que se materializará.
Otra de las eliminatorias será en el peso superpluma, ya que el WBC ha ordenado que se enfrenten el estadounidense O’Shaquie Foster y el mexicano Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramírez. En la Convención se habló de un torneo en la división para decidir al aspirante obligatorio, aunque esta propuesta de momento ha dejado una serie de eliminatorias semifinales inconexas que, entre otras cosas, han terminado dejando en el aire cuál va a ser el lugar del exretador mundial Robson Conceiçao, quien en teoría iba a ser parte también de dicho torneo.
Cambiando de categoría, otra eliminatoria más será en el peso crucero entre Noel Gevor y Thabiso Mchunu, pugna que elegirá al retador del monarca Ilunga Makabu. Tanto Gevor como Mchunu son púgiles fuertes y habilidosos que han dejado grandes actuaciones ante oponentes de nivel, por lo que sobre el papel parece un choque de calibre.
Finalmente, el WBC ha ordenado también una pugna del peso gallo entre Jason Moloney y Nawaphon Kaikanha, pelea que teóricamente debería servir para elegir a uno de los adversarios obligatorios del ganador del Inoue-Donaire II. Por ello, valorándose que Moloney ya perdió ante Inoue por KOT y que Kaikanha parece estar bastantes peldaños por debajo del nivel de la cumbre, esta es la eliminatoria menos coherente de las que el WBC ha ordenado en esta tanda.

We are approaching the middle of the 2022 boxing season and, as is usual in the WBC around this time, the sanctioning body has ordered a series of fights that follows the line drawn at its annual convention or adds new steps. Among the bouts that have been put on the table by the World Boxing Council stands out an ordered lightweight eliminator between Ryan García and Isaac Cruz, duel that would decide one of the mandatory challengers for the undisputed champion that will come out of the fight between George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney.
Therefore, the potential prize could not be greater for the winner of the eliminator. On the other hand, the García-Cruz is also a clash with obvious boxing interest, since they are two young boxers with aggressive styles, in good shape and who are part of the top of the division. However, taking into account how boxing works and that García is represented by Golden Boy and Cruz by PBC, at the moment there is no certainty that the fight will take place, and we will have to wait for the match to be negotiated and set to start believing that it will materialize.
Another of the eliminators will be in the super featherweight division, as the WBC has ordered a clash between the American O’Shaquie Foster and the Mexican Eduardo «Zurdito» Ramírez. In the annual convention there was talk about a tournament in the division to decide the mandatory challenger, although this proposal for the moment has offered a series of disjointed semifinal eliminators that, among other things, have ended up leaving in the air which will be the place of former world challenger Robson Conceiçao, who in theory was also going to be part of said tournament.
Another eliminator will be in the cruiserweight division and between Noel Gevor and Thabiso Mchunu, fight that will choose the challenger of the monarch Ilunga Makabu. Both Gevor and Mchunu are strong, skilled fighters who have put up great performances against top opponents, so on paper it looks like a great match.
Finally, the WBC has also ordered a bantamweight fight between Jason Moloney and Nawaphon Kaikanha, from which theoretically should come out one of the mandatory challengers for the winner of the unification Inoue-Donaie II. Therefore, considering that Moloney has already lost to Inoue by TKO and that Kaikanha seems to be quite a few steps below the top level, this is the least coherent eliminator of those that the WBC has ordered.
