Friday, March 18

Once again, the American O’Shaquie Foster obtained an important victory against a very tough opponent, this time the undefeated Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov, whom he defeated by unanimous decision in a WBC super featherweight eliminator. Estelle Mosely, Bakhodir Jalolov, Jono Carroll and Shabaz Masoud also added victories to their records on the evening. Read more following the link.

On paper, the Ukrainian Oleh Dovhun 14(5KO)-0 did not face a great challenge against the Belgian-Armenian Geram Eloyan 7(6KO)-3, although in the ring he barely managed to defeat him by split decision (96-94, 94-96 and 97-93). So it gave the feeling that, despite coming off an important win against Glenn Dezurn and being one step away from the top 5 WBA at super bantamweight, Dovhun is not yet ready for the fights at the top.

On the other hand, the unbeaten super welterweight Tyrone James 12(9KO)-0 returned to the ring making a statement against the veteran Jimmy Williams 18(6KO)-7(3)-2, whom he beat by TKO in the fourth round. Regardless of the result, James needs continuity of bouts to stabilize his boxing and in the future try to fight against a rival on the edge of the top 15.

Saturday, March 19

IBF flyweight world champion Sunny Edwards, despite being cornered up continuously during the first half, retained his belt with a close unanimous decision against the brave and aggressive Muhammad Waseem. In the co-feature, former super lightweight world champion Regis Prograis became the first fighter to beat Tyrone McKenna by stoppage with a TKO in a WBC eliminator. Read more following the link.

The rematch between Masamichi Yabuki and Kenshiro Teraji for the WBC light flyweight belt ended again by TKO, but this time with another winner. Yabuki could not repeat the feat of the first duel and was defeated by TKO in the third round by Teraji, who reigns again in the division. Read more following the link.

Regarding the super middleweight Edgar Berlanga, he won by unanimous decision against Steve Rolls. However, Berlanga’s performance was not convincing, he showed serious flaws and the verdict was questioned by many observers. Read more following the link.

Very different was the case of the European welterweight champion David Avanesyan, who defeated in the first round Oskari Metz, a boxer that is not even close to his current level. The co-main event also ended quickly, as super welterweight Hamzah Sheeraz beat Jez Smith in the second round. Read more following the link.

As for welterweight Alexis Rocha, he obtained one of the biggest wins of his career beating the skilled but overconfident Blair Cobbs by TKO in the ninth round. Supporting this clash, welterweight Michael McKinson and super middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev got wins, respectively, over Alex Martin and David Zegarra. Read more following the link.

The Italian welterweight championship between Nicholas Esposito 16(5KO)-0 and Tobia Loriga 33(6KO)-10(3)-3 ended with the victory of the former by unanimous decision (99-91, 98-92 and 97-93). Following this link you can watch the official video of this rematch.

On Saturday stood out these other results:

-In a WBO flyweight world championship, the undefeated Débora Anahí López 20(1KO)-1-1 suffered the first defeat of her career at the hands of Tamara Elisabet Demarco 10(0KO)-4(1), new world champion who achieved the victory by technical decision (cut in López due to head clash) despite losing a point. The cards were double 87-84 and 84-86.

-The European middleweight championship Matteo Signani vs. Anderson Prestot did not take place, because the titlist had alleged problems in his mouth a few days before the duel that ended up leading him to an intervention at a dentist. The fight is supposed to be rescheduled, but if Matchroom and OPI find a way more profitable for their interests, it is very possible that the Signani-Prestot duel will not occur in the future either.

-The super welterweight Abass Baraou 12(8KO)-1 beat Brian Damián Chaves 14(5KO)-2(1) by TKO in the sixth episode, showing that he is ready for a fight in the upper part of the division and that he should stop wasting time with belts from unrecognized organizations.

-The welterweight matchup between Carlos “El Tiburón” Sánchez 22(18KO)-1 and Pedro Campa 34(23KO)-1(1)-1 ended disappointingly, as a wrist injury forced Sánchez out in the third round, thus suffering the first setback of his career. Still, despite this unfortunate loss, Sanchez is a fighter with potential and capable of achieving important triumphs in the future.

-Lightweight Jacob Ng 15(11KO)-1 was supposed to strengthen his position in the rankings with a win over Billy Dib 48(27KO)-6(3) close to retirement, but the bout ended with the undefeated suffering his first defeat, although with enormous controversy. Ng shook off a hold by throwing Dib to the mat, the veteran fighter then pointing out that he was injured and that he could not continue, so the referee disqualified the favorite. Dib claims to have broken ribs, but most fans question this alleged injury, or at least that he suffered it in the fall.
