The WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF organizations are committing a horrendous discrimination against Russian and Bielorrusian boxers

Imagine that you wake up in the morning one day and the president of your country has decided to invade another country. Obviously, you do not have the capacity to oppose to that decision since, even if you find the idea of starting a war for no reason repulsive and even if you were perfectly willing to let the president know it out loud, among other things, they would not let you even go near to the presidential palace. Even if you organized a protest against the invasion, your cries would not be heard.

However, although you are against the war, you feel sorry for the situation that the invaded are experiencing and you have not positioned yourself in favor of the war in any way, someone takes away your job and truncates your future simply for being from the same country in which a president has decided to carry out an invasion. Obviously, that would be a crime of discrimination and you could immediately go to a police station to report your boss protected by the laws of your nation or the supranational laws.

Well, although this injustice needs little common sense to be understood, it seems that it goes beyond what the world organizations or their empathy can accept. The WBC, the WBO, the WBA and the IBF have openly decided to discriminate Russian and Belarusian boxers and remove them from the rankings (WBA) and not allow them to fight for any type of championship (WBC, WBO, IBF).

According to the organizations, this is a measure to oppose the war, although this does not generate any opposition to the war, but rather it is a crime of discrimination for which they should be tried, and one more example that their arbitrariness does not have limits. How does an institution or organization oppose the war by mistreating an individual citizen who has not expressed any political position? Does anyone believe that the Russian and Belarusian boxers losing their opportunities will force Putin to stop war?

On the other hand, we must bear in mind that this measure is incredible if we look at recent precedents. From the moment the world organizations were created, decades and decades have passed in which the United States has invaded a large number of countries or has intervened in others in one way or another, often for absurd reasons, and the politicians of that nation have caused hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths by their bombings. Did any organization thought of banning American boxers from competing during those invasions over the last century?

Not only has the United States used occupying force in the past decades, but other countries have acted in the same direction, such as Israel in the case of Palestine despite the UN’s rulings, and no organization has taken away from Israeli boxers the possibility of competing, since in that case they do understand perfectly well that this would be discrimination.

In short, Bastion Boxing wishes to keep politics away from the sport, and this will continue so. However, since its origins, Bastión Boxeo has wanted to denounce the injustices in boxing, and this is a flagrant, horrendous and very worrying one perpetrated by truly corrupt organizations.
