Friday, January 21
The South American featherweight title bout between Federico «El Zurdo» Pedraza 13(2KO)-1(1)-1 and Mayco «Pumita» Estadella 10(4KO)-0-1 ended in a resounding victory for Estadella, who scored two knockdowns before achieving a TKO win in the fifth round. That way, Estadella captured the belt and added to his record the biggest victory of his career with a good performance, so for the moment he seems a boxer to follow in the Argentine scene.
As for the co-feature, welterweight Williams Herrera 11(4KO)-1 only needed one round to finish his fight against Juan José Balmaceda 10(3KO)-4(3)-2, making it clear that he needs a step forward in difficulty of his opponents.

Nearly seven years after his reign began, WBC featherweight belt holder Gary Russell Jr. was dethroned by his mandatory challenger Mark Magsayo, who was crowned as the new champion with a majority decision. Read more in this link.

The co-main event of this evening concluded with the victory of the super lightweight puncher Subriel Matías, who in the rematch against the tough Petros Ananyan imposed his power to wear down and knock down his rival before the stoppage win in the ninth round. Read more in this link.

As for the bout that opened the undercard, Mongolian Olympic silver Tugstsogt Nyambayar did not return to the path of victory against late substitute Sakaria Lukas, as he had to settle for a draw that will negatively affect his position at featherweight. Read more in this link.

Moving on to the Fächer bill, all the favorites achieved victories, including the 9th IBF welterweight Karen Chukhadzhian 20(10KO)-1, who knocked down on one occasion and beat by TKO in the eighth round British Ryan Martin 14(6KO)-3(1)-1. Chukhadzhian has not lost since a defeat in his professional debut and he is approaching an IBF eliminator, so the boxer urgently needs to face demanding challenges to prepare for the big night that should come soon.
On the undercard, middleweight Andrii Velikovskyi 20(13KO)-2(1)-2 returned to the path of victory by beating veteran Rafael Bejarán 29(12KO)-6(4)-1 by retirement in the second round; super middleweight prospect Petro Ivanov 15(10KO)-0-2 handed in the first round the fastest defeat of his career to Nuhu Lawal 27(15KO)-10(3) and could appear in the world rankings; and heavyweight Oleksandr «Hunter» Zakhozhyi 16(12KO)-0 defeated Pavel Sour 14(9KO)-7(6) by TKO in the third round after knocking him down three times.

As the fight between Meiirim Nursultanov and Andrey Sirotkin was cancelled, only two more results remain. One of them is the victory before the start of the seventh round of Mexican super bantamweight David «El Rey» Picasso 20(9KO)-0-1 over Peruvian César «Zurdo» Paredes 15(5KO)-4(2)-1, triumph that could serve the unbeaten to solidify his position in the top 15 WBC and to aim for more ambitious challenges as the season progresses.

As for the remaining result, this was an upset, since the middleweight, top 15 in two organizations, Hugo «The Boss» Centeno Jr. 28(15KO)-4(2)-1 was beaten by majority decision (95-95, 93-97 and 94-96) by an irregular boxer as Antonio Todd 13(7KO)-5(2). Thus, Centeno Jr.’s career reaches its lowest point and he will lose his position in the rankings, while Todd probably will appear in an upcoming Premier Boxing Champions card.
