Confirmado combate del peso crucero Noel Gevor vs. Youri Kalenga el 12 de febrero

En 2018 una muy controvertida derrota contra un letón, el actual monarca mundial Mairis Briedis, separó a Noel Gevor (su nombre real es Noel Mikaelyan) de un hueco en las semifinales del torneo World Boxing Super Series, estancándose desde entonces su carrera. Curiosamente, Letonia ha sido el país escogido para que Gevor dispute un nuevo decisivo duelo para su trayectoria, ya que será allí cuando el día 12 de febrero se enfrentará al exretador mundial congoleño Youri Kalenga, habiendo sido confirmado esto por la empresa Probellum.
Gevor es 5º WBC y Kalenga 15º en esta misma lista, por lo que, estando además en juego en el cruce el título Plata de este organismo, es de esperar que el ganador quede muy bien clasificado y cerca de un campeonato mundial.
En el anuncio oficial de Probellum se incluyeron declaraciones de Gevor, que afirmó:
“Estoy esperando con ansia retornar al ring y competir contra Youri Kayembre Kalenga, que es un experimentado peleador. Después de firmar con Probellum en diciembre mi objetivo inmediato se convirtió en asegurarme de que estoy en la mejor forma posible para mi siguiente combate, y esto ciertamente será así. Tras un largo tiempo fuera del ring estoy deseando recordarle al mundo del boxeo mis capacidades y estaré listo para el combate el próximo mes”.
Por su parte, el presidente de Probellum, Richard Schaefer, señaló:
“Estamos entusiasmados por confirmar que Noel encabezará el evento de LNK Boxing en Letonia. En el transcurso de su carrera Noel ha demostrado su calidad en numerosas ocasiones. Es un boxeador de nivel top que garantiza emocionar a los fans que asistan al evento. Firmar a Noel con Probellum fue un gran momento, y ahora podemos apuntar a verle en acción en el que promete ser un fantástico evento”.

In 2018, a highly controversial defeat against a Latvian, the current world champion Mairis Briedis, separated Noel Gevor (his real name is Noel Mikaelyan) from a place in the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament, stalling his career since then. Curiously, Latvia has been the country chosen for a new decisive duel for his career: on February 12, Gevor will face the Congolese Youri Kalenga. This have been confirmed by Probellum.
Gevor is 5th in the WBC ranking and Kalenga is 15th on the same list, so, with the Silver title of this organization at stake in the bout, it is to be expected that the winner will be very well classified in the near future and close to a world championship.
Included in the official Probellum announcement were this statements from Gevor:
“I’m very much looking forward to returning to the ring and competing against Youri Kayembre Kalenga, who is an experienced fighter. After signing for Probellum in December, my immediate focus turned towards ensuring I’m in the best possible shape for my next bout, and that will certainly be the case. After a long time out of the ring, I’m eager to remind the boxing world of my capabilities and I will be ready for the fight next month.”
